When you find leaks like that, WE LOVE to see exactly where they are. Can you throw some Leak Tech on the joint to show us exactly where its leaking. Excellent job showing us exactly why it needs to be replaced. YOU are my favorite HVAC Channel. I love your Calm Professional down to earth HONEST demeaner. Its great to see this in a Professional these days. Keep up the excellent work. BC
Layers Curtis! Layers! I start off wearing half my wardrobe and by the end of the day, my wife says that my truck looks like a clothing store on wheels.
That burned connection on the contactor caused too high of resistance which made the start current go way up. The Super boost was just masking the issue. But that compressor is pooched anyways.
Plenty of access to condenser unit. Another added bonus, peaceful area. The absence of school grounds, angry animals and helicopters is refreshing. 42 is cold when the wind kicks up, desert dweller here in Az.
i got an old lennox system air handler and cond. house built in 71. thing purrs like a kitten. decided to change it out . 5 electric heat strips cost a fortune to run.
I was going to say after you mentioned its just the wire and contactor and disconnect. Wouldn't the compressor be the root cause of all that burt electrical. By high amps. I know it can also because lose connections
14:07 147.8 in rush amps?? Holy crap, no wonder that disconnect and the contactor had burned terminals!!! Copper coil, it's at least a decade and a half old.
What’s better a fuse, disconnect, and is a breaker disconnect code, I mean, I don’t hardly see the disconnects with breakers, but fuses being expensive. I think a disconnect with the breaker makes more sense, but I don’t know if it’s code or not. I’m just curious?
Hey Curtis. I see you are using yet another different leak detector. I already know you are not a fan of Inficon, to put it lightly, but did you give up on the Fieldpiece units as well? Just your thoughts as I am in the market for a new one. Thanks.
Good to know, thanks. FYI, I have been using a lower end Elitech for the last few years and it has been pretty reliable and affordable. After talking with you, I might try one of their higher end models and see how it works. Thanks again.
Shame, it's getting old, but not ancient. It sounded horrible and once you found that leak, I knew it was over. That's the same boost that is on my old leaker.
Imagine going through the annoyance of replacing a bad disconnect, only to discover everything else was FUBAR! Stick a fork in that system, cuz it's done.

A clean house and yard for a change!
Some folks still have pride.
But bad a.c. pick one 😂
42 degrees that would be warm where I’m at right now 😂 I’m over this cold weather already
42 is like spring in NE Ohio! Thanks for video.
You bet!

Good thorough diagnostics, Curtis. I hope they are smart and hire you.
I hope so too
Curtis, I look forward to the new change over if you get the job 👍 Au
Thanks.

I know your pain Curtis I'm in Florida 37 this am high of 65.

Congrats 50k
Thank you 🙌
Who makes weather king. Here in Arizona it feels warm when the sun is out and no wind even in the 40,s
WeatherKing is a Rheem product.

42 is spring in the Midwest. Lol
Great job troubleshooting Curtis hope you get the change out as always thanks for the video
I hope so too
Hi bro from west Alabama
That compressor sounded like a Bristol on steroids 😅. They were noisy but ran forever
Not the two stage Bristols that Carrier had in their Infinity condensers. They went broke due to those! Or at least that's what people have said.
@@PhilipNation-xm5lhthose did not have much life! Forgot about those
Please tell us your diagnosis, your recommendation and why.

Nice 👍🏼 work man 😊

My DR58 has an appointment with the hammer as well.

Sick outside unit, leaking inside coil on a 15-16 year old system; likely ready for retirement. Did you get the changeout?
42 heat wave
👍👍
What does "kinda cold" mean? 50 - 60f
Depends on where you are

Curt you are missing the undergrowth and the trash from previous service techs
So what is the diagnosis?
Mechanical failure of compressor and leaking evaporator coil
Sounded like a Bad Base Speaker. WOW! 🤪👎
Curtis, just be glad there's no white stuff on the ground or your teeth will really be chattering...lol
He found him a real leaker. Didn’t know how old it was, but needed a new system.
👍👍👍
