    I LOVE Qantas.
Please own & operate SEAPLANE water-bombers like the PBY Catalinas you once had during WW2 so my fellow Koalas and I don't burn-to-death in outback wildfires.

Australian LRAs like the PBY Catalina were critical to WW2 success--to include seamine-laying and are lost capabilities that must be restored in updated forms.

WIN THE BATTLE AGAINST MAN (TBAM)
We don't want China taking over Australia making us "Chistralia"--even though they treat their Pandas a hell of a lot better than we get treated!
DEMAND THE AUSTRALIAN DEFENSE FORCE GET LONG-RANGE AMPHIBIOUS SEAPLANES (LRAs) they need to maritime patrol their vast ocean regions defending against human TBAM enemies like the dire threat of seamines layed by ultra-stealthy diesel-electric, Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) submarines--and also win TBATE by being wildfire WATER BOMBERS. Buy at least a squadron of 12 x Shin Maywa US-2 LRAs from Japan capable of operating in Sea State 5 conditions. Anti-Submarine Warfare, Anti-Surface Warfare (ASW-ASuW) crew stations would be modular for quick-conversion into firefighting configuration as needed. These LRAs would also have in-flight refueling probe & drogue systems to extend RAAF/RAAN aircraft ranges by surface ship tenders and cargo tanker submarines filling them up covertly away from land air base DOTG risks. On top of this, LRAs can save Australians in peril on the seas acting as Search & Rescue platforms that can actually land on the water to rescue people as well as insert/extract special operations forces like the Australian Special Air Service (ASAS). 300+ mph LRAs are also much faster than ship-board 100 mph helicopters and can stop large ships and small boats with warning shots, land and deploy an armed team in a small motor boat to search & seize them.

WIN THE BATTLE AGAINST THE EARTH (TBATE)
Pattern analysis shows where most wildfires occur. Using this info, build a series of man-made fresh water lakes so the LRAs can land and quickly TO to put-out wildfires with quick-successive water bombings. Another option would be an Australian Stern Landing Vessel (SLV) which can beach itself like a Landing Ship Tank (LST) with desalinators to fill up fresh water tanks for LRAs to land nearby, pull up alongside and fill-up their water tanks, then take-off for water bombing runs over wildfires. During time of war the SLV--which is essentially a FAST (30 mph) LST--would be filled with JP-8 fuel for LRAs to perform combat missions--to include air refueling of other RAAF/RAAN aircraft. A large crane can LO-LO the LRAs on deck for rearming & maintenance. Another new seaplane tender option not avialable during WW2 is the Float-On, Float-OFF ship submerging underneath the LRAs to lift it onto its deck for refueling, rearming, maintenance, transport etc. Oil supertankers can be converted into liquid seaplane tenders for even greater capacity in light of Australia's endemic lack of GeoStrategic fuel reserves. The RAAF's C-27J Spartan, C-130J Hercules and C-17A Globemaster III rear ramp parachute drop capability should be exploited by MECHANIZED SMOKE JUMPERS who upon spotting a wildfire from Airborne CAP and/or local citizenry reports would Low Velocity Airdrop (LVAD) with specially-modified tracked M113AS FireGavins that can go nearly anywhere to get at the source of wildfires with bulldozer blades and some with water trailer cannon to put-out small fires. The Spartans, Herks and Globemasters can also have modular fire fighting tanks and sprayers fitted to give extra water bombing capabilities.

SMART Russian Navy Buying Contra-Rotating Propfan, Long-Range Amphibious seaplanes (LRAs)!
How About FAST 500 mph Russian Seaplanes, Australia, U.K.--or America?
Maybe its time we removed the NEOCON Illuminati from political power and be allies with Russia again?

On September 3, 2019, the Russian Navy decided to resume production of the Beriev A-42 amphibious aircraft, which had been suspended in 1993. The aircraft would probably use two D-27 propfans as the powerplant. The initial order was for three aircraft, but no timeline was announced.[22]
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beriev_A-40
On 5 September 2008, the deputy commander of Russian Naval Aviation Maj.Gen. Nikolai Kuklev, announced that the A-42 is to be adopted as a main SAR and anti-submarine aircraft of the Russian Navy, and a provisional contract for four SAR-outfitted aircraft has been awarded to the company, with deliveries to start in 2010. All four aircraft were expected to be in service by 2013. The aircraft were to replace the Russian Navy's aging fleet of Be-12 and Il-38 currently in service.[6]
On 3 September 2019, the Russian Navy announced an order for three A-42 aircraft, which would probably use two Progress D-27 propfans as the powerplant and have increased range to 9300 km. An estimated service entry date was not provided, though.[2]
    Between 1989 and 1998, the Beriev A-40 set 140 world records.[7]
Initially a projected aerial firefighting version, able to scoop 25 tonnes (28 tons) of water and transport a team of firefighters.[9] Later the same designation was used for a projected maritime patrol aircraft in direct competition with the Tupolev Tu-204P.[10]
    A-42PE
Projected maritime patrol and SAR version intended for export. Powered by two Progress D-27 propfans.[13]

Russia to resume A-42 amphibious aircraft production
September 2019 News Navy Naval Maritime Defense Industry
    POSTED ON TUESDAY, 03 SEPTEMBER 2019 13:24
The Russian Navy will receive the biggest in the world Albatros A-42 amphibious airplane. Its design was suspended in 1993. Now the aircraft will be modernized and accepted into service. The gigantic flying boat has universal combat features. It can detect and track nuclear submarines and engage in rescue operations in a rough sea. A-42 will have the latest equipment and improved depth bombs and torpedoes, the Izvestia Daily writes.

Defense Ministry sources told the newspaper the decision in principle to resume A-42 production had been made. The ministry is drafting tactical and technical requirements to the upgraded project. The main one is to create a universal antisubmarine and rescue aircraft. So far, the acquisition of three aircraft is planned. However, the sources could not say when the work to produce the gigantic amphibian would begin.
A-42 will be upgraded to expand combat capabilities. It will get a new radar comprising a viewing sight, heat seekers, piloting and navigational complex to measure sea waves, and a new communications equipment. The amphibious aircraft is likely to have two propfan D-27 engines to increase the range to 9300 km. Air refueling system will be also provided.
A-42 will be able to engage in air and electronic reconnaissance. It can detect, identify and track surface, underwater and coastal targets and determine their coordinates. If necessary, the aircraft can destroy them with onboard weapons, lay minefields and acoustic counteraction means. Besides, A-42 can search for submarines with a submergible acoustic sonar.
Albatros is one of the biggest amphibious airplanes in the world. It is 45 meters long and the maximum takeoff weight is 90 tons. The design began in early 1990, but the production of a prototype was suspended three years later when the aircraft was 80 percent ready.
A-42 was initially designed as a rescue aircraft to replace Be-12. It has to evacuate the crews of warships and submarines in distress. Albatros received a whole set of technical means to find people at sea. There are several options. The aircraft can drop rescue means from the air. In case of an urgent evacuation, it can land on water and take people onboard. A-42 has big side hatches in the bow and stern and a boat with rescuers can be floated through them. The amphibious aircraft can take 53 people onboard. It has a surgery room for urgent assistance.
The main mission of the upgraded Albatros is to search for and destroy submarines, former Navy Chief-of-Staff Admiral Valentin Selivanov believes. "The upgrade will provide modern submarine detection means and increase the combat capabilities. Such aircraft is designed for operations in coastal waters, including in the Baltic, Black, Barents Seas and the Sea of Japan. Albatros is equipped with a set of devices to detect submarines. It can drop special buoys and other instruments to detect the adversary," he said.
In good weather the aircraft can land on water and detect a submarine by acoustic sonar, Selivanov said. A-42 is good for rescue operations, as it can quickly fly to the area of a distressed submarine and land close to it to the maximum to rescue the crew, the Izvestia said.
