BS"D I sooo appreciated this video. I felt understood and understanding. Baruch Hashem - I am not addicted to substances or alcohol or gambling or any of the many things out there. My addiction has become one of not trusting people after experiencing too many behaviors that are simply not yet "the path of Hashem," so I close people out. I am certainly not blaming others...my own growth, as with everyone - is my responsibility. My mother, z"l, used to say I was "her most spiritual child." I always thought she said that because I was the dumb child, and she wanted to make me feel better about myself. I thought I was mildly retarded, enough that I was smart enough to know it. Then I left home, distanced from family, and discovered that I was quite intelligent and quite capable AND VERY VERY sensitive. I no longer felt the anvil of judgement hovering over my head, ready to drop again! But I didn't understand the sensitivity and the inability to ignore harming, wronging, bad behavior, evil etc. G-d Bless you Rabbi YY - how you genuinely care, and genuinely understand, and you DO something about correcting and guideing individuals and communities. This video is in many ways and on a personal level an area of conversation that was about my life! addiction to narcotics daily hourly heavy 24 hours seven days a week use for 30 plus years and I tried everything to get well and I would agree with the rabbi addicts are emotional. On the other hand, speaking spiritual many don’t know what spiritual is being completely committed to getting high consumes everything . A Devine spark so to speak is a different story and this is what happened to me! Its a life or death punch that has to happen for the completely submerged addict to lay down his addiction! Making just a couple high lighten sentences doesn’t reveal the true grandeur of this life changing experience on the other hand we would need a book to detail the advents. Here is what happened completely distraught with living i was in agony with physical pain couldn’t walk and had suicidal depression for many years it wasn’t for the lack of material things in fact I just retired. I was ready to end my life when not knowing anything about heaven or hell other then good guys go to heaven and bad guys go to hell and really didn’t think on this subject matter in fact not at all I never contemplated on the subject. But here I am ready to end my life and I say hey I am done with this world and I don’t want anything from this world so its time for me to die! I look up and say please stop me if I kill myself and go somewhere worse from that very moment onward everything changed! Everything everything everything changed! It’s been just two years and I am so high on life it makes me sing dance laugh and cry it was and is a Devine encounter that cured me of everything some things are in progress because I am learning and will always be learning you see one must stop wanting and give there self to the glory of HaShem then all good things will follow!
