Coraline is a true story that Damiano did not want to specify. The Castle, some see it as a madhouse others like the cemetery, in this strange and lyrical equivocation lies the genius of the musical piece. Yes. These guys are really good and the sensitivity on deep and intimate themes is evident.
But there are no psychiatric hospitals/asylums in Italy, in the sense of places where you can live. You can get psychiatric treatment but then you're sent home. Combined with the fact that all cemeteries in Italy have "strong walls", it's a cemetery. "Andare a vivere" in Italian also means "to take residence", "to move (in)", so an alternate translation of the last verses could be "She was told that in town there's a castle with walls so strong that if you take residence inside nothing could hurt you any longer".
Ciao
Ciao Maria Rita ( io mi chiamo Maria Silvia 🤗) ... Ti abbraccio 😘

I appreciate your emotional reaction to this song. Most of their songs in Italian have very deep lyrics, so in order to enjoy them fully you should get a translation. Not only that, you should also understand the symbolism. Welcome to the journey!
Even though this song has a tragic story I am so glad that you reacted to the lyrics. Like I always say: you can't get the full Måneskin experience without understanding the lyrics of their songs. And it is important to read them while you are listening to their music. Great work ❤
The Castle (of the song) is a cemetery in Rome. Coraline (fictitious name for a friend of Damiano who really existed) took her own life after the abuse of her father and having lost the child to an abortion.
I keep seeing this written in various comments and it's certainly one interpretation but I have never once heard or seen Damiano or any of the band say this. Can you please clarify what source you have for this or than speculation? As far as I understand this is just a popular fan interpretation. I watched the interview where Damiano confirms it's about a real person he once knew and the story didn't have a happy end. He said he and the rest of the band transformed the story into a fairytale which means it's impossible to know which of the details, if any, are real events and what has been changed/embellished for storytelling purposes. It can be interpreted as a story of abuse but the band have never (to the best of my knowledge) confirmed that the castle is meant to represent a cemetery or specifically the cemetery in Rome. Unless you have read or seen an interview from the band, directly stating this it's only a popular theory and interpretation but not a fact.
I actually shed a tear..no fluff in this story 😢! Knowing the story I want to revisit the video and put the visual..if indeed it’s the cemetery people in the comments are speaking of..the line regarding her tears are bells ringing feels true...
Hey Qofy! Looking and sounding great! Nice singing! Yeah, this one is beautiful but sad, in my opinion. I heard an interview with Maneskin about this song and they said that they wanted to leave it up to each individual who heard it to come up with their own story as to what it was about and what happened with Coraline. The song is just so beautiful and Damiano's voice is just as beautiful! I love the little breakdowns they have in the middle of most of their songs, they change the whole feel of how the song started out! Love these guys! Love you, too! Thanks for the reaction!
Will add some details: - In Italy little cities bells from churches are singing also when someone dies, probably referring to the lost mother, so everytime she listen to the bells, she lives again her loss. - When they says :" wants the sea, but she's afraid of water", it probably referrs to someone drowned (her mother? herself, someone tried to do that to her?) - the castle with strong walls is probably a cemetery (in a little city near Rome, there is a cemetery that everyone call it "Il castello" "the castle")
Great reaction video, these lyrics are so deep, pure poetry by Damiano and such a great storyteller. In my opinion the end is almost surely a Cemetery for me these words give it away "non potrà colpirti più niente" translated in the video to "nothing will ever hurt you again" just think about it, only when we're gone we won't be hurt anymore. Anyone who has had a loved one with a long disease feels less pain for their loss when they realize that they will not suffer (hurt) anymore.. just my two cents.
Hi, the song is about a sad but true story of a girl, a friend of Damiano (the singer), who was abused by her father, defined monster in the second verse (as he suggests in the last verse: "She lost the fruit of her womb He has not known love But a father who is nothing of a father ") and who committed suicide (" They told her there is a castle in the city With such powerful walls That if you go to live inside Nothing can hit you anymore "), where the castle is a Roman cemetery, the Verano Monumental Cemetery, called, in fact," the castle "... I hope you will read the comment and now that you know what it's about I know you will appreciate this beautiful song even more, thank you.
You had one of the best reactions I’ve seen. You’re a sensitive soul, man. This song shatters my soul in an almost unbearable way each time. I cannot even listen to it with other people around.
Cool reaction! Coraline is a masterpiece of a song , put tears in my eyes. I think Damiano is a poet as well as an amazing frontman. Obviously without the amazing music and musicians, this would just be a poem. Add in the music and it becomes an emotional experience, that each of us can have our own personal reaction to.
More than once Damiano said he won't talk about details of the real story but it's one with no happy ending, he specifically wrote the lyrics in fairytale form in order to leave to listeners their own personal interpretation. Rumor has it Coraline was inspired by a young girl abused by her father who eventually committed suicide.
Listen to the Sanremo version with the orchestra, you will loved It, Damiano cried at the end of that performance, Is something too Amazing to be described.
Yeah bro that hits very hard. Not a happy ending. Damiano didn’t say what happen afterwards, the most common opinion is that the castle with powerful walls actually is the Verano Cemetery in Rome. In my opinion it could be a psychiatric asylum.. very sad and beautiful, fortunately Maneskin managed to celebrate and remember this poor soul, unfortunately not the only one in the world that had such an experience
Dopo averla seguita per un po', secondo me è dedicata a Giorgia Soleri. The text actually says "if you go live in it, nothing can hit you anymore", "if you go live in it", and this part seems to negate the interpretation that it is a cemetery.
Coraline becoming pregnant by her monstrous father master when she was a teenager, she told her situation to Damiano who wanted to help her. After she had an abortion, the situation escalated and she committed suicide

coraline is literally the fair of an italian girl killed by mistake from public execution in 1550 in rome medieval era,her real name is Beatrice Cenci u can find her story easily in wikipedia, the city of rome in 1900 make her a martyr and decide to name a street in rome in her memory.
Coraline =måneskin each phrase is about a person of the band for example coraline doesn't want to eat like damiano the singer that had ED coraline has anxiety like victoria the bassist coraline cant sleep like the guitarist thomas and coraline has social anxiety like the drummer ethan
The song describes in a fairytale way the real story of a girl who is abused both psychologically and sexually by her father and who, in the ending, suggests that the girl dies ... the final text of the song, the part of the castle, is a very strong metaphor .... a castle with high walls represents a place of isolation or even a prison, a mental institution .... but the part of the walls is the one that reveals the ending .... "Le han detto in città c’è un castello Con mura talmente potenti Che se ci vai a vivere dentro Non potrà colpirti più niente Non potrà colpirti più niente" "They told you there is a castle in the city With such powerful walls That if you go to live inside Nothing can hit you anymore Nothing can hit you anymore" In prison or in an institute there is no peace. "the castle" where you can find peace, serenity, a place of rest, a place where there is no longer suffering or pain ... think of the walls that delimit the cemeteries here in Italy, think of the peace and silence of those places .. the powerful walls where everyone finds peace..

The Castle is a Cemetery of Verano in Rome! A Very GOOD Song and Deep Damiano's lirycs! MORE Maneskin! (Maneskin in this moment are in RUSSIA)
unfortunately, the story doesnt have a happy ending, the castle Damiano is talking about at the end of the song, is the verano cemetery in Rome, where maneskin is from, the entrance of the cemetery looks like a castle :(
That translation is full of mistakes and doesn’t give the exact meaning of the song . It was clearly done by someone who is not familiar with English and translated too literally … like miserable door is not the right translation to misera porta . In Italian misera , in this context means stupid , like it’s just a door . Anyway I suggest you to watch this one , it’s much more accurate . Unfortunately many reactioners have done the reactions to Coraline with this wrong translation . Watch this one ua-cam.com/video/yRnxYhttJwA/v-deo.html
Beautiful ballad from Maneskin, a'course, but so damn tragic, based on true events. Do not make the mistake by presupposing what the lyrics mean until the very last verse Unsure if it involves Damiano as some have claimed because I can't find an interviewer where he answers questions about the story of the song, which is supposed to be personal for him. If so, my heart goes out to him because I lost my first baby to miscarriage but my story has a better ending. 😟😢

Coraline is actually Damiano's girlfriend, Giorgia Soleri, a brilliant young lady who among other things it's spreading awareness about vulvodynia and it's late diagnosis, taking to the Italian parlament a new law about this disease
Guys it's all about Coraline movie you probably watched when you were younger. That's it, it's not a real life character. And Damiano, his gf Giorgia Soleri and the band members all were fans of that movie, it's what inspired them to write Coraline.

Good to hear from you
Will add some details:
- In Italy little cities bells from churches are singing also when someone dies, probably referring to the lost mother, so everytime she listen to the bells, she lives again her loss.
- When they says :" wants the sea, but she's afraid of water", it probably referrs to someone drowned (her mother? herself, someone tried to do that to her?)
- the castle with strong walls is probably a cemetery (in a little city near Rome, there is a cemetery that everyone call it "Il castello" "the castle")

Coraline (Maneskin) -English translation
-------------------
Tell me your truths
Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths
Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths
Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths
Coraline, Coraline
Coraline, as beautiful as the sun
A warrior with a zealous heart
Hair like red roses
Those copper wires are precious, my love, take them to me
If you'll hear the bells singing
You'll see Coraline weeping
She takes the sorrow of others
And she carries it inside of her
Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths
Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths
Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths
Coraline, Coraline
But she knows the truth
Going on is not for everyone
With the heart split in two halves
It's cold already
She's a child but she feels
Some kind of weight and sooner or later she'll break
People will say. "She is not worth anything"
She can't even go out of a simple door
But one day, one time, she will make it
And I told Coraline that she can grow up
To grab her stuff and then leave
But she feels a monster keeping her in a cage
Covering her path of mines
And I told Coraline that she can grow up
To grab her stuff and then leave
But Coraline doesn't want to eat, no
Yes, Coraline would like to disappear
And Coraline weeps
Coraline is anxious
Coraline wants the sea but she is afraid of water
And perhaps the sea is inside of her
And each word is an axe
A cut on her back
Like a raft that sails
In a swollen river
And perhaps the river is inside of her, of her
I'll be fire and cold
A shelter during winter
I'll be what you breathe
I'll understand what's inside of you
And I'll be water to drink
The meaning of good
I'll also be a soldier
Or light at night
And I ask nothing in return
Just a smile
Each of your smallest tears is an ocean on my face
And I ask nothing in return
Just some time
I'll be a banner, a shield
Or your sword of silver and
And Coraline weeps
Coraline is anxious
Coraline wants the sea
But she is afraid of water
And perhaps the sea is inside of her
And each word is an axe
A cut on her back
Like a raft that sails
In a swollen river
And perhaps the river is inside of her, of her
And tell me your truths
Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths
Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths
Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths
Coraline, Coraline
Coraline, as beautiful as the sun
She lost the fruit of her womb
She never knew love
But a father who is nothing like a father
They have told her that in the city there's a castle
With walls so strong
That if you go and live in there
Nothing will be able to hit you
Nothing will be able to hit you

coraline is literally the fair of an italian girl killed by mistake from public execution in 1550 in rome medieval era,her real name is Beatrice Cenci u can find her story easily in wikipedia, the city of rome in 1900 make her a martyr and decide to name a street in rome in her memory.
Very nice reaction video, really! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊
this girl committed suicide... "the castle" is a cemetary in Rome... they knew this girl and couldn't help her...
Coraline =måneskin each phrase is about a person of the band for example coraline doesn't want to eat like damiano the singer that had ED coraline has anxiety like victoria the bassist coraline cant sleep like the guitarist thomas and coraline has social anxiety like the drummer ethan
You should react to vent anni by måneskin it has deep meaning and wants to give a very important message
people who know..."lets watch a grown man cry"
The song describes in a fairytale way the real story of a girl who is abused both psychologically and sexually by her father and who, in the ending, suggests that the girl dies ... the final text of the song, the part of the castle, is a very strong metaphor .... a castle with high walls represents a place of isolation or even a prison, a mental institution .... but the part of the walls is the one that reveals the ending ....
"Le han detto in città c’è un castello
Con mura talmente potenti
Che se ci vai a vivere dentro
Non potrà colpirti più niente
Non potrà colpirti più niente"
"They told you there is a castle in the city
With such powerful walls
That if you go to live inside
Nothing can hit you anymore
Nothing can hit you anymore"
In prison or in an institute there is no peace.
"the castle" where you can find peace, serenity, a place of rest, a place where there is no longer suffering or pain ...
think of the walls that delimit the cemeteries here in Italy, think of the peace and silence of those places .. the powerful walls where everyone finds peace..

Coraline 💔❤❤❤
Castle means what u prefer...cemetery????...to run away?..the silence in her room alone with herself?...to give up and stop feeling anything?....whatever u prefer is always a bad ending..
un bacio da Roma!!
❤️
I think, the Castle is a metaphor, Coraline close your self in apathy life or make an armor for the rest of life.
❤❤❤
QoFy React
Thanks for this Song! ♥️
A GOOD React! In the italian's songs is Very important the lirycs! In the Fairy the Prince Save the Princess! In this sade Story Damiano couldn't to help the girl! The Castle is a Cemetery of Verano in Rome! A Very GOOD Song and Deep Damiano's lirycs! MORE Maneskin! (Maneskin in this moment are in RUSSIA)
🤩😊
unfortunately, the story doesnt have a happy ending, the castle Damiano is talking about at the end of the song, is the verano cemetery in Rome, where maneskin is from, the entrance of the cemetery looks like a castle :(
Yep no too bad for a bunch of kids🖤🌈
🎵🎶💕
That translation is full of mistakes and doesn’t give the exact meaning of the song . It was clearly done by someone who is not familiar with English and translated too literally … like miserable door is not the right translation to misera porta . In Italian misera , in this context means stupid , like it’s just a door . Anyway I suggest you to watch this one , it’s much more accurate . Unfortunately many reactioners have done the reactions to Coraline with this wrong translation . Watch this one ua-cam.com/video/yRnxYhttJwA/v-deo.html
Btw the song talk about a damiano's friend who commited suic1d3😢
You do have a very nice voice indeed. Are you a singer yourself?
I sing a little

👋🏼🌶️🔥💪🏼🇮🇹😁
Beautiful ballad from Maneskin, a'course, but so damn tragic, based on true events. Do not make the mistake by presupposing what the lyrics mean until the very last verse
Unsure if it involves Damiano as some have claimed because I can't find an interviewer where he answers questions about the story of the song, which is supposed to be personal for him. If so, my heart goes out to him because I lost my first baby to miscarriage but my story has a better ending.
😟😢
⚰ 👩with such strong walls
castle=graveyard. she died
Life is just unfair
Ciao sono di Napoli...SEMPLICE SIAMO NOI delSud che diamo così tanti sentimenti.....tu sei un genio bravo FRATE...DA NAPOLI w.w.w. i giovani MONESKYN......SEMPLICE
CORALINE it's a sing song
Coraline is actually Damiano's girlfriend, Giorgia Soleri, a brilliant young lady who among other things it's spreading awareness about vulvodynia and it's late diagnosis, taking to the Italian parlament a new law about this disease
Yes ....i have vulvudynia ....im another coraline😥😥
Coraline is , unfortunately, a common story...
Guys it's all about Coraline movie you probably watched when you were younger. That's it, it's not a real life character. And Damiano, his gf Giorgia Soleri and the band members all were fans of that movie, it's what inspired them to write Coraline.
