Most understandable "how to" I've found in 2023!
Mark you are the man, I have been a BlackBerry user for years, everyone around me uses iPhone so I made the jump, but I run a business and I was shocked no one around me uses or even knew how to sync everything, my outlook is massive - long story short, this was unreal, you saved my brain... cheers Pete

Very nice video. What you didn't demonstrate, and what I have been unable to do, is to make an entry in Outlook and have it sync to my iCloud (iPhone and iPad). I don't mean make an entry in iCloud while in Outlook, I mean make an entry in Outlook. I would for example, like my secretary to be able to enter appointments for me in Outlook and have them sync through iCloud to my iPhone and iPad. Is this possible? Thank you.
great video but i have one more component -google calendar -I have a ipod touch, a new ipad 2 and a laptop with outlook 2007 and I use google. Is there a way to sync them all to gather?
Great video. What if you have multiple PC's (main desktop, laptop) that you want the e-mail sent to. Will all the e-mails/folders be copied from my main desktop to the cloud? (and in turn be sent to all devices...i.e iPad, laptop).

Does the new iCloud calender in Outlook become your default calender. Have you found any reason to sync the calender with your original calender?
When I synced to iCloud from Outlook all my events were moved from my Outlook calendar to the iCloud calendar, so now all my events are deleted from my Nokia calendar! Anyone know a way to fix this?
There is also a glitch in that the icloud calendar that's setup in Outlook does not support reminders - so if you start from the "green" icloud calendar in outlook and make an appointment and go to to put in a reminder you'll get an error that states that the folder being used doesn't support reminders! Again - if you start from the iphone you're OK - not sure if you start from the web/icloud you're OK as well. But most folks will be at their office using Outlook and icloud fails to work.
I had the same problem Dal. I don't think you can call apple for icloud support on windows. I'm still syncing via cable. Would love it if icloud worked though!
Does it work vice versa? As in create an appointment on the PC and it syncs to iCloud and your devices?

I have a question: I have everything on Icloud, and I mean Contacts, Calendar, tasks, the world , I would like to sync it to Outlook on my PC, is it possible, I'm afraid that if I do through the Icloud Panel I might erase all my data at Icloud.

followed your instructions & now have iCloud calendar set up in Outlook - But all my Outlook calendar appointments are now in the iCloud calendar and have been deleted from my Outlook default calender - this in itself is not so bad - But - now in my Todo Bar, when looking at my mail, there are no appointments displayed. Apparently Outlook defaults to display the appointments in the Outlook main calendar. How do I redirect my Outlook Todo bar to draw from my new iCloud calendar??
Great video but have been trying over a week to make it work & it doesn't. In the iCloud set-up window, after checking the boxes for Contacts and then Calendars, the spinning wheels just spin forwever and it says "setting up". Never stops until finally an error message pops up. Also, Contcts, Calendars and the checkboxes are grayed out. Any recommendations? Apple tech support by phone and in the store cannot help. Wouldn't even think of asking Verizon.
Mark, it would have been nice to know that Outlook should have been closed at the beginning of the presentation. I had it open. Now I don't know if i can get it to work. The process has stalled and 'not responding'.
Yes very good video. An other solution to sync iCloud with many devices and software, is to use Memotoo as gateway between them (Android, Google, Facebook, Outlook, ...)
That was very usefull for Windows 7 and Vista. But how do you sync. from Outlook in Windows XP?

I have the exact same situation - made worse because the Outlook Todo bar only displays appointments from the Outlook default calendar. Did you find a solution?? Help.

Here is what is confusing me. I understand that this is a two way synch. Let's say that I purchase a new PC and install a fresh copy of Outlook - the contacts folder is obviously empty. I proceed to install the iCloud control panel- outlook 2010 has a tab exclusively for iCloud
What happens next? if the iCloud sees there are no contacts in Outlook- will it erase them all on the cloud? Or will my iCloud contacts download to the new PC? How does it know which direction to synch?
I sync my contacts from iPhone to iCloud. I think i followed a proper process, but it some contacts are missing in iCloud. I have about 600 contacts in my iPhone, but iCloud only has 480 contacts. Can you please advise why and how to fix it?? Thanks!!!!
I use Hotmail (Outlook) on-line only. I do NOT have Outlook installed on my computer. I simply want dates that I enter into my calendar in my iphone to automatically appear in my calendar when I log into Outlook on line. Am I dreaming or is this possible?
This all looked great to me but does it work the same with Outlook in Office 365? I don't see the iCloud Calendar as an option in either my Outlook Calendar list or my Cloud Control Panel. In the panel it says that Mail, Contact and Calendars, are avail at icloud.com. What then?
It worked good for a while, then icloud seemed to wanted to start taking over my computer. Changing search engines on me. trying to force me to use icloud email by not letting me send my email out through my original outlook email. Finally I just removed the icloud program and everything went back to normal. Now my problem is I can't sync my iPhone calendar with my outlook calendar. Is the only solution to go to an android phone?
I have Win 7 64x with Outlook 2013, part of the 365 Office. I installed ICloud as instructed and the result is that all of my calendar, contacts are missing from Outlook after the initial upload and sync. ICloud did not set up an additional ICloud Calendar or Contacts in Outlook. All the information went to the Cloud and now no data in Outlook. What looked simple in you video is proving not so simple. The loss of the contacts is huge in that I had contact groups for batch emailing - these are not in the cloud application. Can you help?
The same thing happened to me while setting up a new iphone and iTunes on my PC and I immediately entered a question on the associated forum. Then I went to close the iCloud control panel/iTunes and it asked, "keep a backup?" or something like that. I clicked yes and all my data reappeared in outlook. It is worrying and I am now very wary that a loss of internet/PC freeze or other problem, or a failure to click the right response will result in loss of important information. I had my old Sony Ericsson with all the data which I could restore from using PC Suite - but as it all magically reappeared I did not need to. I am now trying to find out how to prevent a real loss!

Fantastic, except for the fact that you can't sync the appointments from the cloud into your default Outlook calendar.
When you sync calendar or contacts in outlook, and it shows in the iCloud folder in outlook, does it also show in the outlook folder above? Or is there a way to blend both folders as one?
iCloud does not work and most people that have tried iCloud have gone back to other methods of sync. You cannot sync the calendar / contact reminder function in Outlook to iPhone over iCloud. The Outlook reminders get corrupted by iCloud and mess up everything. iCloud does not use your default Contacts & Calendar making it impossible to use most of the Outlook functions as they are not supported in the iCloud Contacts & Calendar.
Icloud and iPhone synch well. These events do not show up in Outlook. And, events created in Outlook will not show up in iCloud. HELP!!!!

HELP, I synced my outlook 2007 calendar with icloud, but it ripped all of my dates out of outlook. I need the data to be resident in my Outlook calendar for a time scheduling program. There is no two-way sync function on the icloud control panel.

Can we all agree that less than 1% of the population less than 1% of the time will log in to a web interface. We do have our phones or iPad or PC or MAC with us. No big, deal, but just a point I wanted to state.
The bigger question...in Outlook....why did it create the Cloud calendar??? Why not just use the calendars that we already had? I find this confusing.

Like CFergesonTX I also am in need of a fix so that Office for Mac 2011 will sync the Calendar and Contacts via iCloud. I find it hard to believe that Microsoft wouldn't already have a fix for this product in the iCloud...they knew it was coming and they knew it wouldn't work. There has to be a lot of folks out there that use Office for Mac 2011 as a "standard" for business. It's a real pain not to be able to see the same data on my iPhone and iPad.

the only problem to your explanation - and I'm guessing your experience - is that you're not using this how it would be used in real life with Outlook emails - and that's where icloud fails misrably - if you go through the regular Outlook pathway to create an appt in your default calendar - it will NOT be included in the icloud or get transferred to your iphone. It works fine ONLY when you do this via your iphone not the other way around which I venture to say is the way most appts will be made.

Outlook был идеально устроен для планирования и работы с задачами, почтой, контактами и многим другим. Я бы никогда не мог подумать, что кому-то придет в голову создавать такое безтолкове и идиотское изобретение, которое не только будет менять интерфейс аутлука, но и станет "посредником" между outlook и телефоном. И что примечательно, не таким посредником, который упрощает твою работу, а таким, который заставляет тебя трарить время шариться по форумам и youtube, чтобы, черт возьми, разобраться как с этим вообще работать. Причем, ни отказаться от него, ни обойти я не могу, чтобы работать корректно.
Я приобрел iphone совсем недавно и с каждым днем я все больше и больше убеждаюсь, что эта игрушка - переоцененный кусок безтолкового говна.
