- I Tried The 6am Instacart Shift For 1 Week. I did gig work at 6am for one week, ranging from favor, shipt, spark, and instacart orders. Hopefully this helps you decide if instacart 6am orders are worth it.

I am a gig driver that mostly uses instacart to make some money, this has been my full time job for almost a year, and I have learned alot over that short period of time. Hoping to share tips and advice with you all!

So.i subscribe? And u send me 10$?
I once had a Walmart delivery driver drop the eggs on the way up my stairs, he was so apologetic and I just kept saying it was okay not to worry. He insisted that I request a refund and that he would run to the farmers market on the corner to grab me some more eggs. I was very adamant that he not do this and that it was okay, he did it anyway. That guy was a real decent human being. We tipped him $100 through the app.
People like him will get crushed and take advantage! This world is so evil with good people…So sad…
@taivo2520 wtf?
@@BARB_BLOX wut?
@@taivo2520I’m that guy and almost 99 percent of my shoppers increase my tip and have met the founders along with the top shoppers 🎉 so no my friend you are wrong but nice try 😊
Too bad he only saw $1.09 worth of that $100 tip through the app smh
It's good that you brought the chips back. I would've done the same. The customer most likely appreciated the extra service.
One time I forgot milk and brought it back and the customer and her husband screamed at me. Now I just contact support and have them remove it and then bring the items back to the store lol
@@yungtunathat’s so psycho to scream at someone for fixing their mistake. I can’t even imagine what would compel me to scream at anyone in the retail/service/gig industry. It would have to be pretty heinous.
@@yungtunalol, damn bro.
Wow 20 miles for an order….
Iv e done this before with a case of monster, unfortunately i didnt get any😂 but its still the right thing to do👌🏽😉
Just a friendly tip...use a clothes basket to put the bags in, easier and less trips to the door.😊
When you make a comment before watching the whole vid 😂
TBF it is a half hour video which is like hours of the time it used to be relative to content and value offered. Still useful tip for some who only watch 3 minutes but scroll through the comments.
I like the pop up wagons on wheels only takes a second and has a handle and cup holders it’s great
I use large reusable Sam’s/BJ’s bags that hold lots of grocery bags and have long straps that makes it easy to carry on my shoulders. These are super convenient for 12 packs of soda, gallons of water and other large items.
This is smart af.
I put my alarm on before 7am every morning and always turn it off 😂😂😂😂😂
It’s a struggle
@@aphidcartwhat city of TX are you in?
@@stephenlandrum let’s just say in between San Antonio and Austin
@@aphidcart ok, nice!
Glad I'm not the only one
I’m naturally a morning person so I’m always at the stores at 6 am right when they open. I find it’s easier to shop in the mornings because stores are less crowded and I get better orders
And the roads seem to be less busy 💯 so relaxing.
It’s cool but depending on how it was the day before a lot of things are out of stock and you gotta wait for trucks to get in or for workers to refill things
@@izzy_elnino864the overnight stock workers usually stock the shelves between the hours of 11pm-7am depending on the store.
Taking the chips back isn't about the tip, it's about doing the right thing. Good for you. You should always do something without expecting anything in return. I know you say this is good money, but what about benefits? Retirement? Wear and tear on your car? Gas, insurance? Do you factor all those real life things in? Honestly curious. ❤ P.S. I like your outfits
Thank you! And I am pretty hard on myself, I always want to do my best, so that is the main reason I took them back. Gig work can be flexible, and for people who run new businesses it can be very beneficial. People who are sick a lot can just work when they can. Also I feel that pregnant women can really benefit from work like this, since they can work on their own time and even with a kid if need be.
Personally gig work is not my main source of income, it is just a side thing and mostly for UA-cam videos now.
@@aphidcart Gotcha!! Just subbed earlier, keep up the videos! 🫶
@@exxsprout Awesome! Thank you 😃
My husband does uber. Taking a mom and her daughter to airport. Daughter left her purse in car. So mom asked to keep it for the next 2 weeks till they came back. One night daughter called saying she was back we headed to drop her purse but she told us no to go to her house but a friends house in the neighbor. She never sent money thru Zelle. At least my husband did his part.
re: the chips. it is never wrong to do the "right thing". Turns out....she was grateful and showed it. Well done!
i loved that little situation with chips! really was a good example of how life can go so much better for everyone if we just put that tiny bit of effort into being a kind human being:’)
I forgot to drop off something on a double batch to first customer. You can still text first customer to let her know by going to batch details even though you marked it as delivered. Just an FYI for when you screw up again like this in the future, not that you will.
Great info! Thanks
discovering new places doing gig work is one of my favorite parts of driving
Did the 6am-noonish instacart shift at kroger for 3 years straight, 3.5k orders done, just got hired at nordstrom so offically retiring from fulltime insta (will do part time 😆) great long video also!
Enjoy the new job! What made you quit instacart, if you don’t mind me asking?
@@aphidcart our car is falling apart, nordstrom is within walking distance of me and gfs apartment and she'll take the car to her job a mile away. Plus health insurance since I'll age out next year turning 26
@@enjaluu that sounds like a good plan though! My car has been falling apart as well, but luckily I got family to help teach me how to fix it so I can keep going. Hope the new job works out 💯
former Instacart customer experience agent here, our team just got fired and we are gonna work for COX now, our company says Instacart's end is near, sorry yall, thank Pepsi Co for that... shout out to our shoppers, stay strong yall, its not over yet!!
I had to quit instacart coz I barely saw any orders the few I did find barely covered gas and any decent orders were quickly snatched by others. Near the last month things went down fast. Multiple orders from multiple stores for only $4-12 dollars with millage over 20 it was a big H***NO.
How can Pepsi co affect instacart forcing it to close?
@@dragonext2001 pepsi co bought a controlling share of instacarts stock.
$760 for 6X 5-6 hr shifts in the mornings is good money in my book. But I guess it depends on where you live (cost of living)
There are some people that could probably make the same amount in half the time forsure. But like you said, for my market, it is descent 💯💪
Another thing to consider is that, (Given I'm not sure if he's already mathed it out and showing us the end result) most drivers have to hold their own taxes since they are independent contractors, so you end up having to set aside ~20% give or take out of that amount, and the gas while driving to and from each day has to be taken out of that too. It's still good money, just things you have to think about
@@AkariKinryuu true, but if you keep a pretty accurate milage log, list of all repair bills for the car, cost of anything extra [bags at stores that wont provide paper/plastic bags anymore.] add in anything else you bought to assist the job. When you claim all of that on taxes that ~20% quickly drops to 4 ot 5%, I went from having an almost 1k tax bill last year, down to 176 dollars after deductions.
He lives in Texas it seems so idk if it’s good at the area
@@pepsilove6306fwiw you can either take mileage or "actual expenses." You can't take both.
Love this challenge. I just got a job as a bus operator for my city that’s pretty good with a pension and you’re under a union. They are sponsoring my CDL B license for the job. Will still do gig work on my days off every now and then.
Hope you enjoy the new job! Keep grinding 💯💪
@@aphidcart thanks appreciate it
I really like how you shined light on the positive things youve come across during the challenge
Thanks! I am trying to be more positive to help spread good vibes 😎
I do Instacart in New Jersey and single-use plastic and paper bags are no longer allowed to be provided by stores. I use the boxes by warehouse stores like Costo, BJs and Sam's Club to consolidate items. For other stores, we purchase reusable bags. Unfortunately customers then get a huge collection of these reusable bags.
I’m just glad that Instacart pays for the bags because I like to bag stuff organized
@@mycinnamongirlWhat's funny is you you can't use plastic bags but a lot of items are packaged in plastic. Hmmm
@@mycinnamongirl Another funny thing is that Cali pushes paper straws but the straws come in plastic packaging.
@@mycinnamongirl Recycling is a scam. Only about percent gets recycled. The rest goes to the landfill.
This was a wicked cool video, looks like it took a lot of time to put together. Really awesome seeing what it's like.
Really appreciate hearing that. Thanks for the support.

I haven’t sparked in awhile I need to get out there and do some orders. I’m usually Dashing when I’m not at my regular job. I love gig work ❤
i applaud your commitment and work ethic to make content and earn an honest paycheck.
i am going to sound "old" but it is soooooo refreshing to see someone with an amazing work ethic! i have hope for the future
17:17 my high school graduation present was a 2014 civic coupe I loved that thing lost her in 2020 to a bad crash but seeing the view again hit me in the feels. Nice video man also is never too late to join the hybrid club😈
I have a tip i think you could use , you should keep a laundry basket in your trunk then put all the bags in there and just carry the basket might be easier .
I used to do that! Recently my basket broke so I just started using a costco box. Sometimes I forget to put it back in my car though haha
Awesome that she tipped you and left a great review, she's a realistic person she knows a simple mistake even if it's not your own fault are going to happen in life. Huge of you to go back and do it when most others would rather take the ding on their account and move on to the next order. For that you get recognized with a bigger tip and a great review and she gets her chips, everyone wins.
In my market with Publix things start rolling in at 7am mostly shop only right off the bat, I love doing one of those to get the juices flowing in the morning 😅
Early mornings have been growing on me, especially since I can escape most the Texas heat 😂
That was so nice of you to take those chips back to your customer! Excellent job! 🎉😊
just started uber eats delivery as a side job when im bored and make about 100 bucks each aday at about 5 hours im loving it
I've been in limbo for about 3 weeks waiting for the Walmart Spark background check to complete.
Interesting watching this. I often place orders for early morning drop off but I do it the day before.
I do doordash and every shop order I get I swear it's nothing but cases of water, soda and juice and it's always the 3rd floor... once had a shopping order to Aldi and it was 12 items.... all 12 were 2 litres to a 4th floor apt with no street parking.
Beginning at 21:07! Is it just me or is his background music the best!❤ I’m just trying to learn about gig work, and find myself jammin’!😂 💃🏾
That costumer service chip run also earned a sub!
Great video and looking forward to upcoming content!
Haha, awesome! Thanks for joining
Instacart almost always gives me trash orders, either orders waaaay out of my zone, or laughable orders with no tips.
Had this video pop up on my suggested so I started watching and one of the apartments he delivered to I was like wait that looks really familiar, and turns out he is in my area! Had no idea until he showed a part of his map on his phone 😂 Thought it was funny, definitely have a new subscriber!
Haha, that is awesome. Thanks for stopping by 👋
It's good to see you uploading videos again. Today was the first time I got a notification in quite some time. I've always wondered how many people place orders that early in the day.
Yeah, I’ve been working on some other stuff. Thanks for stopping by again! I should be uploading more often again
Way to go! I did early Amazon same day and Fresh shifts. That's the way to do it.
Make sure you are taking into consideration your mileage charge....track your mileage, check your government suggested mileage rate and take that off your earnings, as well take off the gas charge per mile and then decide if it is worth your while.
Definitely enjoyed this challenge super hard waking up that early would love to see more of these. We always wondered if spark was good early morning or not thanks for the insight 💰💰💪🏼💪🏼
I would definitely give it a try. It is so peaceful! Appreciate you both, hope you guys are doing good 💯💪
Getting up, every single day at 8am for 5 years straight is a blessing.
Some days I wake up at 11am-1pm depending how late I worked the day before, or even as early as 5am despite getting off at 1am :)
40 items for 75$?!!! Dude that is some luck there
It was an old regular of mine. She favorited me recently 💯
@@aphidcart dude that’s some luck bro
I love how your days turned mostly into Spark. Spark is always the busiest in my area.
Come, hell or Highwater I’m gonna get that incentive done no matter what!! 🎉
If you made the same amount every week if you did this exact thing every week your looking at $1,519.32 in two weeks which is a nice amount to look at.
Orders move from store to store. They follow the shoppers. When I am at home, I can watch the app and I see orders move between 3-4 different stores because I’m close to multiple Publix stores. That’s why it seems weird for an order to be so far from the customer. IC is trying to give YOU an order 😊
I never knew 6am was even a thing! 😮
Sometimes the repeat customers or customers that see one’s effort to provide a great experience, when using the grocery service, pays off not all customers will increase the tip but they will not report an items missing if one drives back to give it to them I’ve had some moments were I forget an item or it slips out of the bag and I don’t see it but I rather would take it back to the customer and document it so if they do report it missing I put it on the dispute report to cover my self from any wrong doing
Good call on doing the shipt and favor!
Multi-apping for the win 💯
You’ll really start making a lot when you can accept a double shipt curbside order and an Instacart order and deliver them at the same time. You’ll need boxes or something to keep them organized and separated.
Good job filming so much while working.
Thank you!
Are you not allowed to park in the customer's driveway? It would make carrying all the groceries a lot easier, I'd back it up, & unload. :) Maybe you could put a fold up wagon in the back of your car to put the grocery bags in, for easier delivery to the doors of the homes? :)
it is a liability. if something were to happen, they could blame you. not worth the risk.
I just seen you on the instacart commercial on my Facebook feed way to go that's a real big
Awesome!!
Your video making skills are on point
Thank you 🙏 definitely not perfect but I’m pretty happy with this one
Been waiting for spark for a yeeaarrrr 😫
For Instacart, do you have to go in the store and look for each item or do the workers there find it for you and you just take the bags to their home?
You have to get the stuff, sometimes the stores will have it all picked and ready to go, but 95% of the time you will have to get it like if you were grocery shopping.
That’s pretty crazy, you are basically working two jobs for the price of one. While Instacart comes up with ways to pay you less everyday.
@@bobby_digital9493it is really crazy. Some customers don’t realize how much work we do! I shopped for and delivered groceries for 3 different people for $9.75 on my second day. I could barely believe it. Should be $10 per household at the very least.
Get a foldable cart to take up in 1 trip vs 2 trips to one address !
Love your style of editing
Thanks!
i used to work at heb and someone buying that much distilled water in one go is very common. they’d come in and buy so much.
Can Instacart shoppers choose their shopper? How do you think you got early access to a batch being a regular? Do you think Instacart shows you a batch early if you've delivered to that customer before?
no. the shoppers choose the orders they want.
W for getting her chips back
💯🫡
I just started Walmart Spark,. So far loving it.
Turned the app on for first time in a year maybe. Wtf are these shopper fees now? I'm seeing $5 orders, 6.46 with a $1 tip lol wth is this nonsense? That's terribad, was already the most questionable app but damn...
It’s not clickbait at all…I want to know the correct metrics. 40 hours vs 80 hours vs 20 hours…25 hrs etccc
You probably got plenty of orders but Instacart doesn’t give you notifications for every order that shows up. That’s why it’s good to have a second phone
bro wtfff i’ve beeen trying to get on spark the past couple months and every time says they’re not hiring. and I actually live in Dallas. yall stay in ur own town
Wherever you live, they sure tip a lot better. I live in Iowa and the tightwads barely tip.
I'm at the store at 6am 4.98 rating 5 star diamond not getting batches...I don't get it. So disappointing
Glad you’re back !
Yeah it took a bit to make this video 💯💪

I just subscribed, I really enjoyed your content! Thanks 😊
What they need to do is deactivate people who have all these multiple accounts. In my area, nobody can sign up because. Too many people signed up for people like this. Who doesn't even use the app while people like me Will use the same app all day long. What they should do is look at how many hours they are putting in, and if they don't fulfill a certain amount of hours, deactivate the account.
I'm a rookie. I accepted my first order on door dash from where i was parked. It got cancelled. Accepted another order. delivered it. Then my brakes overheated. Old brakes. Ordered new rotors off amazon. Oh boy
Oh no 😅
How many times do you need to fill up your tank for all that driving around? Keep up the great work!
another tip for you get one of them folding kids wagons to put heavy stuff in like cases of water.. inless you want the workout.
I got one, just put it back in my car haha
i tie all plastic bags in a knot & roll down paper bags if possible to avoid losing items.
I used to but apparently some people hate that 😂 I had a person leave instructions on there order roasting me for doing that 💀
@@aphidcart wow
this is why i no longer go to early drops always bad batches if i even see one.
Not bad weekly earnings :)

52 items for $36 😮 that's cheap asf
Junk food is cheap haha

Good ole NB!
You know it!
Literally 5:15 where I’m at when he said that😂
I love how white guys show up to work like they're going to the park or swimming lmao I have to start dressing like that man. Screw pants
As someone w/o a car in one of Tulsa's many food deserts, I've used insta and uber eats to get groceries. I've just been sticking with the default tip at the beginning but I don't tip afterwards. Am I a bad person? I was hoping that would be enough and I'm already on a strict budget. Does it depend on how large the order is? Are they always expecting more than the default?
You do what you can. The important thing is not to tip zero, nor to bait and switch by putting a tip on and then taking it off after delivery. Even modest tips are appreciated, keep in mind depending upon your market if there are better batches with bigger tips, those are going to get picked by shoppers first. If your tips are very low your batches may get combined with other customers that are nearby which may make it more feasible for you to get a delivery and the shopper to still make good money.
So one thing I noticed about what you said is every HEB has somewhat different inventory I have a feeling that customer was looking for something specific sold at the store you were at
Bros gotta be in the best area in the country if he’s making that much on spark starting at 6 am
Honestly that’s pretty rare
Crazy when u said it's 5 15 am at the start I looked at my time and it was literally the same 😂😂 crazyy
Lol nice timing
See this right here is why tf they have waitlists on these apps because for no reason everybody has to blow it up and ruin it for people looking to start somethings really shouldn't go mainstream or viral
Yet you increase the engagement and help it get more views 🫢
I live up in michigan and those kinds of orders you get are ones I'd hop on real quick. It's just very time consuming
1. Are you in new Braunfels?
2. Are you being tip baited?
3. What year is your civic? I got one too lol
Not trying to put my exact city out there, but I’m very near there 😜 I get tip bait more in seguin. My area seems to not have too much tip bait. Civic is 2012. Civic gang 💯💪
smooth video! but dude if you dont get urself a cart or some IKEA bags lol trust me ur body will thank you when your older.
Lol okay 😂💯
Good for you on returning the Chip's, karma is real and you will be rewarded
It worked out for me, she increased her tip
WHY DON'T YOU GET A COLLAPSABLE WAGON? THEY ARE ABOUT 40 BUCKS, 3 TRIPS TO THE CAR FOR 1 ORDER. YOU DON'T REALLY WORK EFFICIENTLY. NO HOT/COLD BAGS FOR MILK ETC. YOU HAVE TO INVEST IN YOURSELF BUDDY FOR BETTER REVIEWS.
I have one. I just don’t always bring it along. When I work with my wife we don’t have enough room for it usually
I’m new on instacart and I’ve been waking up at 6am too almost all day and I get no batches why?
I drive around stores stay in stores up to an hour and nothing I’m starting to give up
Never ever ever pay for an order yourself.
You should break down the pay by how much of it was tip. You started talking about a regular who tips cash but wasn’t sure you were going to at 6am. You never confirmed or denied and forgot about it.
Never got it. Sorry
i had left 2 dozen eggs in the car and didnt realize it till i dropped off my second order lol
