Good day sir. Do you have idea about the soecs of teiton beast master trolling rod. And in your side sir, what is the good trollig rod, roller tip or not. Thank you
I have several Shimano Trolling series that have lasted me a lifetime. The challenge is that Shimano no longer services or provides parts (drag washers, etc.). I don't seem to have this issue with Penn reels. I take great care of my gear; however, what good is it for the reels to last so long if service and parts are no longer available? Does anyone have any tips on where to get parts and service for vintage reels? I am in Southern California. Thank you.
Hi. I just bought this reel in really good condition. How to determine if the drag washer is worn without opening her up? If a new drag washer is needed, what steps are required to obtain a new one, given that Shimano no longer services these reels ? Also, what is the maximum drag level for this reel? Cameron
If the line is still pulling out when you are in max drag and fully adjusted on the preset knob, the drag washer would need to be replaced. You should be able to get the drag washers through Southwesternparts.com or Platinum Parts website shop.fishingreelparts.com. or Smoothdrag.com. I think the max drag is around 30 Dennis
@@2ndChanceTackle Many thanks Dennis. I have also read on the internet that this reel can be converted to 2 x speed along with a bearing and sleeve conversion. Do you know about these mods and what the purpose is for each one? How much does this reel weigh? How does the drag ratchet compare in sound with today's Tiagra model? Cameron
thanks for the great video , I picked up a triton 80w for not a lot . and have noticed that the drag is not that smooth and steady. Seems either to loose or too tight. line is either screaming off , or not at all. Is it possible that its that drag washer is the issue? very informative video , thanks again.
The problem you are describing is almost always drag related. Most of the time that this problem occurs, it is the result of the drag stack sticking together. That can happen when the washers lose their flexibility and dry to the metal. You most likely will need to service the washer by removing it and making sure the metal pieces are smooth and clean. If the washer is damaged or dry, you will need to replace them to fix this problem. - Thanks for asking - Dennis
thanks for the help. If i could pick your brain on one other issue with this reel. My handle on the triton 80w is functional but plastic is cracked at the actual handle part. I heard that a modern tiagra handle assembly would work, Is this correct you think? again thank you for all the good info in your videos!!
The best thing to do is to call them Shimano parts center and ask an expert. They can answer your question and get you the part if needed. The number is 877-577-0600. If you want to contact them through email - go to Fishshimano.com - Dennis

Thanks for the video, I'm going to work on my penn 30, question...the large felt washer on this reel does not require oil like smaller reels, thanks again
That is correct. It just needs to be clean. Good luck on the overhaul. Make sure you pull the schematic and pay particular attention the sequence of items on the spool shaft. Take lots of pictures. Also. The Collar on the Penn reel is similar, but you may need there removal tool to get it off. I have had a few of the Penn Internationals that would not be removed with hand strength. I bought the tool. It is available through Pennparts.com - Dennis
yes - that reel is way too big for that fishing application. Try using the smaller Tritons, like the 15 size or go for a Calcutta or Corsair, depending on the size of fish you are chasing
I am located in Central New Jersey. Good luck with the reel. They are great performers. For more information, please email me at 2ndchancetackle@gmail.com
Was just curious what size conventional reel this is I wasn't able to find much about this online mostly about the newer models mine is a older model just like this one.
Thank you this is great. Just subscribed 👍
YW - Thanks for the sub and for watching - Dennis

I do not, but you can check the Shimano website and view comparable rods. The site is fishshimano.com

2nd Chance Tackle thanks I'll let ya know how I make out.
Hey Dennis or public, do you know how much 80lb braided line this reel will hold?
Just a guess about 600 yards of 80# braid.
I'm looking at a tts30 is it too big to pier or bridge fish with

I enjoy watching your videos and they are very informative. Could you do a video on a Shimano TLD Star series reel?
I will do a video as soon as one comes in my shop. The TLD maintenance is very similar to this Triton overhaul. Thanks for asking - Dennis
Where can I get new screws and rod clamp ?
There are multiple sources. In the U.S. they should be available through eReplacementParts.com or in Canada through www.mikesreelrepair.com/ - Dennis
Very helpful I just got one of these !!!!! I just like to use the old school gear. I'm so happy I found your channel, where are you located ?

The size is comparable to the 6/0 penn format
@@2ndChanceTackle I wonder if I could get around 300-400yards of 100lb braid on that reel
@@2ndChanceTackle I just finish lining this reel with 315 yards of 130lb Suffix Braided line with 100lb backing
