Fantastic!! I read all of the comments and I like the idea of putting the tubing in a large black plastic garbage pail. If you coil up the hose in a big black garbage pail in the sun, wow it will get HOT FAST!! Nice idea!! 👍👍👍
Nice video for showing how simple this is for people to do! You’re bang on with the ‘not too fast, not too slow’ you have to tailor the heat energy output compared to the electricity used to pump it… One slight change to make - put the pump input further and deeper from the heat output… This way you take in the colder water at the bottom to ensure the pool heats more evenly.
I've been using this method on my pool for 2 years now . Works great. I use a 15mm isolation valve to control the water flow . And it works better if you take the water from one side of the pool and return it to the other side of the pool. Plus suspend the pump about 2 inches from the bottom not near the top.
Sent to my grandson to help heat his pool next year. Great idea. I may even set up the smaller one I have next year to see if it will heat that one up along with it's solar cover.
Nice. I’m definitely going to make this for my pond. Any thoughts of running the hose through a series of black cans inclosed in a box with a glass screen? I’ve seen solar heaters made for warm air this way, but I haven’t seen it done with hose ran through it.
I am doing this this week, I already have 2 solar mats in parallel they got me from 70 to 84f, the 500 ' Hose was cheap at Target $21 plus $7 shipping , I just looked it's $113 now . after running around 2 hours after setting it up on a cloudy hot day it was putting out 99f pretty damn good.
Nice video filled with good tips & trix. I'm setting up a solar powered pool heater right now and my goal is 30°C / 86°F in the pool. I'm starting with 250 meters / 820 feet of 20 mm / ¾ inch PEM hose in a flat rooftop setup. A 20V rainwater barrel pump (2,000 liters - 528 gallons / hour) will be connected directly to a solar panel, so it's a completely automatic system controlled and powered by the sun. No sun = no pump = no heating. Since I'm located at 60° latitude in the northern hemisphere, I'll guess it'll be some problems and math to solve along the way, but it'll be fun. Keep up your good work
@@wendizoid I moved my tarp and got kinks everywhere I am cutting hose into sections then splicing with barbs ugh and It was putting out 105 degrees just b4.
You should be able. Being a smaller mass of water. It should heat faster . Because being a Jacuzzi. Adding more coils to get it toasty. Is a good idea.
I want to do a setup like this, and am wondering if the pressure from the bottom drain hole would be enough to push the water through the hoses? Sorry if that's a dumb question, but when we drained our pool last fall, I was shocked at how much pressure came out of the drain hole, so that got me thinking...*edit - our pool is 6600 gallons (18' round x 4' deep)
Good idea. I bet that would work. May have to play around with how much pipe you can get away with seeing as it will need to lift the height of the pool.
Basically, you do the same concept but instead of the multiple coils… you attach it to a copper hose, and throw that hose on a grill (im gonna try a small one) so no suntanning the coils! The water will be boiling! Set it inside the pool and you should be set. Can you try with an affordable grill?
I have a salt water pool and I generate the chlorine through the salt cell at night. That's the standard set up. During sunny days just switch to the drain setting on the filter. That diverts the water to the hose. Keep in mind that you want a system that circulates a good volume of water. If you use too weak of a pump or a hose with a narrow diameter, you'll get hot water ok but the volume will be insufficient to effectively heat the pool. I recommend using the pool pump..much stronger...but don't make it work too hard by using really narrow pipe...sure the water will be hot but you'll toast your pump....too much resistance. The goal is to heat lots of water a little bit, not a tiny amount of water to a high temp.
Several of your links only go to "related searches" so not sure which kne you used. Like the pump. We have a 20 ft pool and are thinking of using 500 ft of the tubing. We aren't sure what pump. Also couldn't see which adapter you used for pump to hose.
inflation 😂🤣 . but seriously. to bring cost down you can also use the pools pump. to avoid the cost of a pump. also in our case we bought 500 ft of hose but you can always buy less. instead of our own table. laying it, in the ground will provide very similar results. also for the connectors you don't need to buy a set . you can always buy the ones needed. in our case we bought the extra hose and connectors for our garden. hope this helps. 👍😊

How long does it take to heat the pool? How hot?
I love your funny takes

Thanks! Going to try this only with a pump outside the pool and with an inline shutoff to slowdown the waterflow for hotter water. ✌
Awesome 👍😊 good idea
I loved this video. It helped me plus made me laugh so hard at parts. Great job
thank you!! 😊👍

What pump are you using?
A hole can be easily cut for tube to come out. Cheap, hidden and easy! 👍🏼

would covering the coils of hose with a clear tarp for a greenhouse effect would it hurt or help or even work?
Yes it helps. Enclose coils in tarp to hold in heat.
@@wendizoid I moved my tarp and got kinks everywhere I am cutting hose into sections then splicing with barbs ugh and It was putting out 105 degrees just b4.
@@kpj9535ugh. The black irrigation hose is a pain to work with. It has a mind of its own. It definitely likes to stay in a round, coiled position.
Does it still help at night ?
I am hyped about this. Can you do the same thing for a Jacuzzi? Let me know. Thanks.

This was motivational

What horsepower pump are you using on yours?
Where do I get everything I need ??

Any dangers of leaving Polyethylene sitting out in the sun? Chemical breakdown?
How much power is the pump
Did you see the grill heater hack? Can you try to step by step explain that. Would it work with a small grill

I’m thinking of putting it in inside of a black trash can with lid in the sun!☀️👍🏼
Awesome 👍😊
why do you use a drip hose? doesn't the water leak out of the hose where it is coiled up?
Drip hose usually has no holes until you decide where to put the holes.
@susannaharris3489 Yes that is correct. No holes until you decide to place them . @ragenbostrom8075 thanks for replying. 👍😊💪💪
How would you connect it to your pool filter instead of the little pump?
That's gonna depend on your system. I would put it last in the system, after it's chlorinated and filtered.

Which pump did you use?
A small garden / fountain pump from harbor freight. But we also placed links in the description of the video. Good luck 😊😁

Thank you so much👍😊
Thank you
You're welcome😊👍
The only problem with this is the tubing was not designed for high temps and wont last long before breaking down and start to develop cracks
😂😂 the infections in your voice
Cost of pond pump $60.00 cost of t joints $15 cost of 500ft water line $70 $200 total cost....
Pond pump on Amazon is $12. Fittings in plastic are under $1. 200ft black tubing on Amazon $25
Takes two weeks to reach one degree
Hilarious THANKS
Your welcome 😊👍
A great way to cool down x hundred feet of irrigation tube and get no benefit to the pool.
i could probably suck a vacuum on that line instead if using a separate pump
Withing 3 minutes he's gone above the $50 mark
