- We had a lot of fun shopping with our teen girls today, but we ended our day with a crazy experience when our dogs discovered a baby owl in our back yard! We called a wildlife animal rescue immediately for help! Is it Okay?

Poor little owl. I'm so glad that you got someone who could move the owl so your dogs wouldn't hurt it. I love how protective the mommy owl is and that she followed when the baby was moved.
I wouldn't want to go shopping either, if I was Cynthia... Who wants to go see other people shop and not shop for yourself also... When I go shopping with my mom, she buys me stuff, or if one of my nieces goes with me, I'll buy them something... Even if one of their friends goes with us, I let them pick out at least one thing... I know she's an adult, but she's a young adult and on her own, and is probably tight on funds... 😒😒😒

Putting the wings up is defensive for owls. I’m quite surprised with how the rescue handled it actually, she definitely didn’t grab it correctly. The rule for all raptors is, while wearing protective gloves, grab the legs and control the feet. Have both feet in one hand with your index finger in between the legs, then hold the owl against your body (having them facing forward) with a hand on their chest. Bites can hurt, but it’s more difficult to get bit like that, especially if you put a towel on top of their head. The talons are what you really need to worry about and protect both yourself and others from.

They still consider her a “little” Braxton is actually older than Brinley. She probably just wanted to go with the other girls cause her and Aubrey and Addison have gotten so close lately

Call a wildlife in need if you have one
Baby owls quite often fall out of their nest. That looks like a long eared owl. The mother will usually be nearby and still feed it if you put it somewhere safe whilst wearing gloves so you don’t transfer scent. They stay motionless so predators think they are a rock and won’t get eaten. They are probably still eating regurgitated food from Mum and Dad still as it hasn’t got its feathers through.
The handler were the gloves to protect themselves from the owl claws and talons. Leaving your scent on a bird is an old wise tale, you can pick up a baby bird and put it back in the nest if you can reach.

So happy the wildlife lady checked the young owl out, then transferred it to your neighbours yard who do not have dogs. Mama and Daddy will look after and come down to feed the youngster, hopefully in a couple of days the youngster will fly, fingers crossed. Well done to your dogs for drawing attention to the owl and for not hurting it. Blessings.

You can always call a local wildlife rehab . We had to do that last week when our dog caught a cottontail baby bunny and carried it in . In our case I called a wildlife rehab and they instructed us to get it back outside and let the mama find it . The mama came at dusk and hid it

Loved seeing the owl I was a girl scout leader one time we went camping I went to open the leaders tent it faced all the other tents there was an owl in the tent I opened the tent flaps and it flew out it sat on a light pole watching me the rest of the evening some of the girls tried to get it to look at them but it didn't take it's eyes of me anytime I moved it followed me with it's eyes the girl's kept trying to scare me saying it was going to attack me we finally all got in our tents and went to sleep the next morning it was gone after it got dark it came back and watched me until I went into my tent . Not all owls are nocturnal. Some come out during the day too such as barn owls, little owls etc. the tufts on their heads are not their ears, their ears are just behind their eyes.
Is Brinley losing weight? Or has she just had a growth spurt? Either way she looks great! And i LOVE her hair!

You do realize that owls do pick up small dogs and other small animals and carry them off and kill it's prey. You have some very small dogs that they could carry off.
They have raptor vests for their dogs. They talk about it a lot. It makes them look bigger, spikier, something raptors don’t want to pick up and is more difficult.
Awww I cried hearing the mama owl. You guys did good. Prayers for the baby owls fill recovery and that in a few days it will fly.

Good Job calling an owl rescue!! Next time, you can also call Arizona Fish & Wildlife they will be able to help you figure out what to do. I had to call Idaho Fish & Wildlife (couldn't find the number for Utah Fish & Wildlife) one time because there was a hawk in my back yard. It eventually flew away.

Usually you leave babies alone and the mother will still look after it till it's strong enough to fly on its own - so glad you did the right thing ❤
FYI...an owl can take away a cat. My daughter lost her cat because of an owl. So really watch Roxy when she's outside

I have a couple of barn owls over here in England, they are beautiful! But they do drive me nuts when they are calling each other all through the night! lol Ours are called Ollie and Ollietta! lol

A cool little fun fact about owls and my family is that owls mean a lot to my mother and I because of my grandad. He used to call her hoot as a kid and so the day he passed my mother saw an owl in the middle of the day come to our front yard a perch for awhile for her to enjoy. We took that as a sign that he’s saying he loves us, all will be ok, and he is always watching over us ❤🦉❤

Did you know cuz I have native of American friends and one of my native American friend told me that a native American culture owls are bad luck cause in their culture it owls mean death all animals mean something a native American language that's what I was told
