and this bike is why I love the 2004/2005 ZX10R . so many design features made there way to the road bike, and if you have ever ridden one you know how fun they can be to ride.
Yeah...I bought $ 800.00 a second-hand engine , as a funny-spec washer on the alternator drive shaft didnt mind (...its own bizness?), dilating 500 RPM from redline (@ 14 K) using a fine-brand synth.oil... Then , shaft seized , teeth broke , crankshaft didnt like to chew it through primary downwards clutch box... This way u go back home holding a fine bike on the platform of a van for 80 km. And pay for another '04 ZX-10 R inline 4 powerplant...
I couldnt agree more, I had a 1997 p2 ZX7R black version and it saved me a lot of times pounding the roads. A first-class bike especially when I kitted it out with a Yoshi RS2 Pipe
This bike became the ZX10 and is the foundation for 6 world championships. Good investment. The first generation was a unruly beast, then the 2006 zx10 came along. It was excellent at some tracks with its superior horse power, but usually is was overall slower on track as it did not have the steering of the gsxr or R1. As soon as Kaw fixed the chassis it was destined to dominate world superbike and here we are.
This is a real beast!! It's such a shame that KAWASAKI is not participating in MOTO GP. I think it would really make things much more interesting. Of course the regulations are so restrictive now. We probably won't ever here a real screamer like this again in MOTO GP.
MotoGP gets more expensive every year and Kawasaki doesn't have the infrastructure or the funding to support a MotoGP team. It's not cost effective for them, which is why they stick to WSBK, improving bikes they can sell rather than prototypes no one else can use.
Do you think these motogp manufacturers are just there to waste their money and no one in the factory telling them that you wasting their money... When Suzuki left motogp last year their share value got down by 30% in just one day.. Not only that but by competition you make greatest engineers by competing them with other great engineers, then that can be used to make market bikes.. If you would look at Kawasaki ninja then at launch it front wheel always try to fly not remaining on ground.. Racing makes your brand and that is the motive of that..
Just imagine travelling back in time with a current day ZX10RR ( or the equivalent of other brands ) , and showing up on the grid. Crazy how much technology has advanced ( and , yes, I know that without any electronics current superbikes could be considered handicapped compared to those , less-powerful but also unruly , motorcycles )
Crazy to think they only took 10 months to develop the bike before it hit the track, hopefully if Kawi can continue their dominance in WSBK for an additional 2 or 3 years that they can justify the price of returning to MotoGP
A lot of the commentary is fluffy corporate talk, defying the fact that it was a bit of a stinker on the track. That said, I was at the Barcelona MotoGP when Garry McCoy was powersliding this thing to the point that there was a permanent blue haze over the corner we were at. Still the coolest bit of any race I've been at. And fair play to Kawasaki for deciding that it was a bit too brutal for MotoGP, so they put lights on it and made it a road bike! The later MotoGP machines were really pretty, bit the lack of MotoGP legacy was something they never overcame. Sad that they haven't been back. Should've built something for Johnny Rea 5 years ago.

I want to be in the development team and do nothing but watch what others in my team are doing and just nod my head and opening the bottle of Champagne at the of the project.. then clap and shakes everyone's hand in my team. I'm pretty sure there is at least one in the development team who does absolutely almost nothing.

Is it any wonder some Kawasakis got the name 'widow maker'. Kawasaki... Number 1. The MOTO GP paddock is a desolate place without Kawasaki......
How is it that Aprilia and KTM are currently in MotoGP, but Kawasaki is not? Does that make sense to anyone? Especially since Kawi's been dominating in WorldSBK.
They dominate in WSBK because they are basically a full factory team, all other teams in WSBK are private or semi factory. Aprilia dominated WSBK with a factory team then they went to GP. Now they are at the back of GP grid and nowhere in WSBK, kawasaki don't want to do that. I would love to see them back in GP but I don't think that will happen.
