Respect and much love to Egypt , from Greece !!!! My grandfather born and raised in Alexandria in the 1950-1960' !!! For me Egypt its like a second home!!!!!
The Greeks belong to the Mediterranean nations..and they always had a place in Alexandria through different Historical times. Alexandria will always be in their Heart as the Jewel of the Mediterranean
I am Alexandrian, and somehow I am very connected to Greece and Greeks, I remember in the nineties we used to go to Pastroudis, Calithea and Elite - Greek music were often heard in not only Geek cafes and restaurants but also in cloths shops like Habiba and Nadet in Roushdy ..
Dude seeing what is happening today, can I just say that the Greeks dont have to worry, you already have a place to go in Egypt if something ever happened to you ♡ history still brings those two countries togther, amazing.
Is there an Egyptian dialect of Greek? You would expect it, at the latest after 2000 years (that's an understatement!)... even after only a few hundred years, English dialects developed around the world. And don't tell me it's Coptic. Coptic is not Greek, Coptic is just written in Greek letters and has some Greek words, but it is the descendant of the language of the hieroglyphs. Coptic is the original Egyptian language.
I am greek i just LOVE Egypt's language, country, people and music .i hope to cisit soon Thiw video is a proof that different people religions and culture can respect each other and coesist peacefully. Love you evyptians and egyptiotes egyptiotises!!
Interesting video - for cities today with big immigrant populations (eg. Gujaratis in London, Chinese in Kuala Lumpur) this video is like a glimpse into the future...
My late grandmother (born like this gentleman in the 1930s) was second generation Greek-Egyptian, her family having emigrated from Malta and Italy in the 1800s. They were part of a large, inter-married Greek and Italian community, and my great, greatg uncle was Chief of Police in the city. We have medals given to him by the last king, King Farouk. The family, who had British passports due to their centuries living in Malta, had to leave after the revolution, with nothing but a suitcase and £100 and start new lives in the UK, Australia and Italy. They were part of a colonial system, yet the history of that city, the mix of cultures (Greek, Jewish, French, Bulgarian and so on) is fascinating. I compiled a memory book for her when she had dementia, and the streets looked like Paris. Very nice if you could attend the beautiful clubs and resorts, which of course, many native Arabs could not. My grandmother spoke seven languages, and told stories of the city which sounded magical. A world long-gone but pleasing to imagine.
I still remember the Greece 🇬🇷 club in Al ibrahimaya in Alexandria and also the 🇬🇷 Greece Marin club in bahary in Alexandria also and nice country with nice culture Greece 🇬🇷
Abdel Nasser was good. But the foreigners emigrated because of nationalization and because of the wars in Egypt and because of Egypt's economic conditions, but some foreigners preferred to stay, and we should not forget that now there are more than 30,000 Russians in Hurghada, Egypt, and other foreigners also reside in Egypt

I don't get it, Greeks have been in and assimilated with the indigenous Egyptians thousands of years ago. Many of the Copts are Egyptians mixed with Greeks and many who are now Muslim have ancient Greek blood mixed with Egyptian, Phonecian and little Arab in them too.
Those communities of greeks came to Egypt during ottoman and English rule the ones thousands of years ago were long assimilated into th Egyptian population
@@shetos1233 Not really, the Egyptiotes actually retained their Greek Identity through Byzantine and Medieval Islamic Alexandria, They assimilated culturally as in they lived side by side with Egyptians as brothers and contributed to Egyptian culture and society but they rarely mixed with Egyptians(in an effort ofc to remain Greek). Except for a few who were Egyptianized and some who mixed with Egyptian Christians, the overwhelming majority however didn't.
I heard the ladies, who were gathered together at the beginning conversing in Greek, but I'm wondering why the people who were interviewed chose not to speak any Greek at all....
At 1:50 tell that lady Greece is more free living there then all of Egypt put together throughout the centuries. Hopefully she opens up her mind and not stay brainwash because she could get comfortable back home in Greece.
Your nationality is more important than ancestry. If she's actually been to Greece and she wanted to stay, she would as she probably has the Greek passport and has the option to leave. How the hell would she be brainwashed into loving the city she was born in?
