I see why you've been reacting to the sc2 alpha showcase videos recently! You've been trying to figure out what they did right there to replicate it. This looks pretty good so far! I'm really excited to see what you and everyone on the team can do here!
The designs of the alien units are a little underdeveloped I'd say. Everyone imagines themselves as the Spacemarines shooting the bugs and not as the bugs getting shot... Starcraft was able to overcome that problem to some degree. Zerg has a lot of personality, design and lore that makes it cool, but here we just have plain looking bugs with wacky abilities that don't make too much sense. Who would wanna play as them? Give me the bad-ass looking mechs any day.
this looks amazing!! i've been starved for a good rts with great art direction, and this seems more to my liking than the cartoon-ish way stormforge decided to go. i'm very hyped to see the final release
This looks pretty cool for a pre-alpha, it for sure has a lot of potential! The first kickstarter ever that i want to support lol. Only (constructive) criticism i'd have so far is to not name some units so similarly so it doesn't cause confusion on newcomers. I hope ZeroSpace becomes a big success!!
After checking the patreon videos, I am in love with this already and I heavily hope this gets the attention it deserves. Cheers to you and the entire team.
Why do all RTS games need to look so cute. Give us a grim, dark setting. Unit design is good though. But man these kitty league graphics. Same with stormgate and aoe4
I love that this video is just, “But wait, there’s more!” Am so here for this. With two enticing RTS games on the horizon now, I think it’s time I got that PC I’ve been considering.
Just a few weeks ago we revisited to SC2 Alpha gameplay videos on this channel and now it's Grant's time to channel that Dustin Browder energy. Showing off unit counters and ending on gigantic battle as tradition dictates. All we need is some '... these Reavers just don't have the firepower to stand up to the Disruptors' charged laser beam and are forced to retreat' to complete the circle. Keep up the good work, looking forward to this game.
I can happily say that after the few years I've enjoyed your content, I can finally help a little ! Ty and the team for your wonderful work, looking forward to test the game
You have me intrigued. I shall visit the Kickstarter and other videos later. I noticed many elements from the various mod playthroughs that you enjoy in this demo so I'm glad that heart is finding its way in.
I am now more interested in this than in Stormgate. While both games are still in their infancy and require a lot of TLC to get them where they want to be, the ambition and scope of ZeroSpace rekindled my hope in seeing good, new RTS games where the people who makes them are gamers and understand what is fun ! Cheers and godspeed to the ZeroSpace developpers !
So it's the Not-Terran vs the plant zerg :p. It looks like it has a lot of potential and you've earned my trust as someone who does understand rts games. I look forward to seeing your vision in it's totality and hope it turns into an awesome game.
Just a few things, which came to my mind while watching this.: - The units of the alien race all look very similar in shape, which makes them fairly boring to look at. - The human artillery fire is way to distracting for the eye. It''ll be a pain to manage anything in the line of fire of these things.
Such a talented creator amazing, I am always astounded at how people can make such amazing games virtually singlehanded in a lot of cases. My hat is off.
I made a Kickstarter account just for this. Never before have I seen a project so well done in pre-alpha and it seemed like a good way to pay y'all back for all the wonderful mods and content the community has been making recently. I'm already hyped to play the beta :), especially with Winter's seal of approval.
I'm not sure if i like or hate how similar this seems to SC2 & WC3. But i am 100% sure that i love the Project you've started and am 110% hyped to get to know more about it.

its really nice to see small time groups trying to make a change in the current game market. fight the good fight. hold on to 'want to make something incredible' for as long as you can.
I'm a bit late, currently checking out BQT, Winter and Harstem's videos about this game and It looks amazing! Can't wait to try it for myself, keep up the great work!
I can already see the units' personalities showing in the gameplay sample here - a sign of a true passion project. I'll definitely have to check out what other content creators think of this one!
this really looks incredible. Great job. Biggest thing to get right I'd say is... the control and physics of the units. If you nail that... I think this game has so much potential, the design looks just so well thought out and so creative. TBH I'm more excited about this than stormgate. Definitely will buy, I hope it takes off.
This already looks amazing! I love the ideas presented here and the veriety they come in. Every new unit made me go 'woah, that' s cool!'. And something I also noticed is the phsyic based enemy destruction, which looks really good. Thisbis something I adore in Starcraft, and made most other RTS that came out after it feel less impactful in their battles. I am highly interested in this, happy developing!
Looks great. You really have your ear to the ground when it comes to making enjoyable RTS content. Anything you have a major say in is going to be fun. Backed and looking forward to eventual release
Wow. Truly surprised! I was wondering why Grant was always so busy, and thought he was doing some advisory work on the side, but this is huge! Congrats Grant and the team, and I hope you deliver an incredible RTS and a breath of fresh air to the genre. God speed.
Remember when Grant said the next RTS was gonna fail? I think he might be wrong. I'm hoping the team behind this game gives it an SC2 esque Arcade and custom campaign maker.
The core infantry unit being called the "commando" is pretty funny considering commandos are supposed to be elite infantry, usually working alone (at least in popular depiction)
A few super interesting details I've spotted! The tanks on the Protectorate's side seem to lose their top halves when killed, but the treads and base still remain. I get the vibe it might let Engineers rebuild the unit on the old treads of the previous one, hence the name 'Avenger' as each one is getting revenge for the previous tank? Maybe even combines with the Disruptors, as they're both similar tank designs? I do really dig the Grell's vibe, and I'm curious how things balance as they look very very durable (maybe the combat feels much slower than SC2 so they feel tankier) though it took me a moment to spot the differences of the units in the moment. I think it's cool that they're a bit different from Zerg and feel more like one species with some different ways to grow, rather than how the Swarm incorporates foreign DNA into itself. There's also a sort of plant vibe that we really saw from the Thresher (the AOE around it where grass began to grow?) so I wonder if that's a buff/debuff, and how it ties into the lore! Also in the final fight, we see what I assume to be a top-bar ability that makes a tree? It has the same grassy radius, which feels like the creep/a regen area for the Grell, and seems to consistently spawn the littlest unit to harass (or respawn units that die in its radius) Overall, while initially I thought the Grell felt like they were invading the planet against the Protectorate, the fact that their siege unit results in life flourishing around it makes me feel like they're the natural species on the planet and the humans are the ones invading. (Akin to the Glyphids from Deep Rock Galactic). I believe that unit we see with a yellow circle around them in the end of the video is a Grell Hero unit, as it's the closest thing to humanoid we've seen so far. Very cool to include it for a moment. I'm very very excited to see more as this develops, the details are already outstanding (even if it's not the final decisions) and I also really hope there's a robust campaign for us players that aren't too hot in the competitive scene. Having read the Kickstarter, I think it's INSANE that we're getting 4 main factions as well as a few smaller mercenary factions, that's going to provide so many ways to play, especially if each has different ways to play through the campaign.
So checked out the kickstarter page, looks good. One big thing that stands out is that while stretch goals are mentioned a lot there isn't anything telling people the details or level of donations needed to actually unlock them like there is in many other kickstarters I've seen. Like it mentions that the name and details of the two other main factions and three minor factions (Cause unless I got it wrong only the details are hidden behind stretch goals and that they'll appear in the game either way) will be revealed via a stretch goal it doesn't actually give anyone a clue how far it needs to be funded to actually get those details. Unless I somehow managed to miss the part where that is shown, wouldn't put it past me.
I love how this is obviously taken inspiration from the Starcraft alpha showcases. It has the same vibe and is very good at showcasing the different units and mechanics!
As a cnc gamer by heart myself, as well as sc2 gamer. i have never been more happy by seing a rts game being made, i cant even begin to tell u how much i am gonna play this. it looks absolutly amazing, keep working on it and i promise you that you will atleast have me as a buyer

I've played SO many RTS games from SC, WC, AoE, mainstream games to Northegarde and There are Billions indie RTS, can't forget about what we've seen for Stormgate either. This game you and your team are making, has fluidity, pacing, strategy, etc in here. Something a lot of RTS games lack. They're all good, don't get me wrong, but there isn't a real fluidity. I appreciate everything you do Grant! Thank you!
This game looks amazing and it seems that it will be an absolute blast to play and I will be looking forward to playing the public release and soon as i get some irl stuff settled ill donate towards the Kickstarter this is an rts that will be fun and enjoyable to play.
This looks super cool so far! There's a lot of interesting things at play here, such as the top bar mechanic and the minimum range on iconic units. If you guys would accept critique, however, the names of the Protectorate units feel a bit too similar-if you swapped some names away from the "verber" convention, it'd feel more unique and easier to tell apart. Also, a bit more color diversity on the other faction would help as well-maybe pulling off of fruits or even insects for inspiration? I'm interested to see what you guys have in store in the future!
This looks really cool. I love how Stealth is less binary than it is in a game like Starcaft: instead of being "do you have detection? No? Then you die. Yes? Then I die." it is much more about positioning and ambushes.
Only caveat is that they will need a blink/jump to bypass choke points or it becomes inviable to stealth behind enemy lines instead of just surprise attacking outpost. Nothing wrong with the current state but flexibility would be nice, to annoying to play against.

Eh, personal taste. I’ve always found the ‘human’ factions to boring and preferred anything else.
Wow. This already spoke more to me than the Stormgate video did. Also, I like the art style way better.
Congratulations, so far.
this looks amazing!! i've been starved for a good rts with great art direction, and this seems more to my liking than the cartoon-ish way stormforge decided to go. i'm very hyped to see the final release
If you like art design, you should check out Sanctuary: Shattered sun. It is very different in gameplay to these 2 games, but cool in many others
I was intensely skeptical of the entire concept of the game until 0:06 when double barreled tank appears, now I'm a fan.
I love how bright and clear it is to see! So many rts try to be dark and gritty and it just makes me have to up my monitor brightness.
I love that this video is just, “But wait, there’s more!” Am so here for this. With two enticing RTS games on the horizon now, I think it’s time I got that PC I’ve been considering.
Hopefully ur referring to tempest rising and zerospace because Stormgates artstyle looks like fortnite and overwatch did an unholy fusion dance
It looks like a fusion between starcraft and command and conquer
Warcraft Is the best
StarCraft Is very good
C&C Is too best
Until EA killed IT
And both together OH BOI!
Some things also remind me a bit of Halo Wars, which is not necessarily a bad thing
@@karelzabijak321 EA killed everything they touched and I feared the same will happen with Blizzard
@@imalator935 EA has Midas Hand
Except Its not gold buz greedy gold that Will rot
Blizzard has the same Hand Now
I can happily say that after the few years I've enjoyed your content, I can finally help a little ! Ty and the team for your wonderful work, looking forward to test the game
I can see why you were studying the sc2 trailers lol
You have me intrigued. I shall visit the Kickstarter and other videos later. I noticed many elements from the various mod playthroughs that you enjoy in this demo so I'm glad that heart is finding its way in.
I realllllyyy like this. My only concern is its similarity to sc2, but I'm expecting it to differentiate itself a lot more
This game looks incredibly clean and has beautiful art. Just backed you all on kickstarter and hoping for the best for ZeroSpace!
It really feels like you took inspiration from SC2 alpha videos ahahah
I love this video Grant, this is so nostalgic of those sc2 unit intro videos. I feel like you primed us for this by reviewing them recently
Awesome game! I'd love to cover it on my channel!
Exact!
What is this? A crossover episode?!
Just a few things, which came to my mind while watching this.:
- The units of the alien race all look very similar in shape, which makes them fairly boring to look at.
- The human artillery fire is way to distracting for the eye. It''ll be a pain to manage anything in the line of fire of these things.
Reskin for StarCraft?
Such a talented creator amazing, I am always astounded at how people can make such amazing games virtually singlehanded in a lot of cases.
My hat is off.
This is literally just StarCraft.
I made a Kickstarter account just for this. Never before have I seen a project so well done in pre-alpha and it seemed like a good way to pay y'all back for all the wonderful mods and content the community has been making recently. I'm already hyped to play the beta :), especially with Winter's seal of approval.
Yeah.... this looks way too much like sc2
And?
The little hops that the bastions walk with makes me love them a lot, please never change that walk cycle
I'm not sure if i like or hate how similar this seems to SC2 & WC3. But i am 100% sure that i love the Project you've started and am 110% hyped to get to know more about it.
The top bar is such a good idea to make this game more accessible to everyone. You’re getting wrecked? Here’s your chance to get back in there!
golden design, I love it. I can’t wait to see more!
Man, this is amazing. I'm glad you're doing this: some genres really need people who loved them to revitalize them.
I really, really like this. Hopefully you'll reach the hidden rewards at the very least.
its really nice to see small time groups trying to make a change in the current game market. fight the good fight. hold on to 'want to make something incredible' for as long as you can.
Just hearing about this now and I am sure I'll get this when it eventually releases. Keep up the good work
Your pre-alpha looks more polished than many AAA releases. I can't wait for this.
Hell yes, I love the way you design rts and I hope that you have all the freedom and support you need (:
And I hope your team has all that too (:
Looks great. You really have your ear to the ground when it comes to making enjoyable RTS content. Anything you have a major say in is going to be fun. Backed and looking forward to eventual release
This looks really cool! Finally a new RTS that looks good! Can't wait to try it out!
Wow. Truly surprised!
I was wondering why Grant was always so busy, and thought he was doing some advisory work on the side, but this is huge!
Congrats Grant and the team, and I hope you deliver an incredible RTS and a breath of fresh air to the genre.
God speed.
This is the Stormgate we all asked for
I gotta say, these units look more interesting to me than stormgate units
Remember when Grant said the next RTS was gonna fail? I think he might be wrong. I'm hoping the team behind this game gives it an SC2 esque Arcade and custom campaign maker.
The core infantry unit being called the "commando" is pretty funny considering commandos are supposed to be elite infantry, usually working alone (at least in popular depiction)
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!!! PLEASE LET THERE BE STORY MODE!!!
Kinda reminds me of StarCraft 2 so I might actually play this when its ready.
that is an absolutely massive news, and it is a very good one. I sincerely hope this makes it to being the equivalent of the old SC 2
Both this and the trailer video over on the main channel look great. I cannot wait to give this a try when it is out!
This looks so much better than Stormgate
Love your explanation, Grant! Keep up the good work! I'm really excited about ZeroSpace!
It has the same grassy radius, which feels like the creep/a regen area for the Grell, and seems to consistently spawn the littlest unit to harass (or respawn units that die in its radius)
Overall, while initially I thought the Grell felt like they were invading the planet against the Protectorate, the fact that their siege unit results in life flourishing around it makes me feel like they're the natural species on the planet and the humans are the ones invading.
I am very intrigued by this, and Grant himself being part of it and backing it only reassures.
Really looking forward to more!
I'm rewatching this on a bigger screen, and I saw the sparking arteries in the Grell bodies. That's amazing.
As a cnc gamer by heart myself, as well as sc2 gamer. i have never been more happy by seing a rts game being made, i cant even begin to tell u how much i am gonna play this. it looks absolutly amazing, keep working on it and i promise you that you will atleast have me as a buyer
Pumped about this. I didn't see this until today, and am amazed it is already at 200%!
Nah bro, with those Avenger's upgrades you 100% got me. That's so awesome.
Wow for early development this is really impressive. Excited to see where it goes.
Thank you so much for making this video and taking time to explain things more slowly. Most of the other videos have been going at full game speed and they didn't have enough time to explain everything. Getting a better understanding, slowed down like this, has made me appreciate what you guys have made even more! I'm more excited than before. Would you consider making an economy video?
Good Job man! That looks actually really dope and that really does mean something, you know that better than anyone else Grant!
Damn this looks impressive. I'm starting to get super hyped for this game
This looks amazing. will definitely buy this when it comes out fully.
OMG this looks so much better that StormGate. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
I can't tell if Grant including Warp In Reinforcements was chaotic good for trying to improve it or chaotic evil for inflicting it on the players even if it isn't. Genius.
As a Zerg lover, the Grell look awesome! I can’t wait to see more of this game!
No shit. They're a carbon copy
This is AMAZING. I'm so happy for you and for the RTS community.
You absolutely deserve to be recognized by yours and your teams abilities. This game is an extremely welcomed piece of art in the RTS world.
Grant?? I had no idea you were working on this! This makes me so excited. Thanks for sharing! I'll be sure to send it to folks I know. :)
Great to see Stormgate, zerospace, tempest rising, BAR & stargate terran command nicely bringing back RTS genre back from the brink
This looks pretty good.. and the talent behind the game actualy understands the RTS genre. I wish you the best of luck and cant wait for more :D
