You missed an imp detail, lex says if he has powers he'd save the world, superman points out, he's actually had a superpower of superintelligence but never actually used it for benefit of others.
Well so does superman and he does the same. He is a alien with advance intelligence.
@@loganshaw4527 I think you missed the point.
@@remoantonie3243 just say superman brute forces his way he does not have martial arts, he do not think o if I hit here this is going to happen so hit here after that will help. It like boom what wall. Swish o you were trying to hurt those poeple well they are already safe he has super speed, super strength, super durability, I am saying he also is super intelligent and does not use that as well he can match batman or beat him in making equipment for himself. He could beat lex Luther is a game of chess along and he does not.

When I was younger, I was never a big fan of Superman. When I was in my late twenties, I finally read the graphic novel this is based on and was completely blown away by the storytelling. When I watched this movie, I was legitimately brought to tears. This is THE Superman story.
"What Ever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow" is also an iconic Supes story about his final days and it's an excellent read if you haven't already.
i like your enthusiasm mr lowe!
no this makes no sense. he bascailly has to much sun in his body, and instead of getting kryptonite to see if it would dee power him. or even stick him under red lamps so he isnt getting anymore power and is actualyl getting weaker they allow him to stay under the sun like a solar pannel thats getting to much wattage already they just keep adding more to it
💯
Which Superman is this in the video?
>There is a machine that can generate 200 quintillion tons of force.
>There is a surface that can withstand having superman wedged between it and a machine generating 200 quintillion tons of force down on it.
It's made of the same thing as those planes that Superman can grab without just tearing a chunk off of them.
Tactile Telekinesis. Superman can apply his strength and durability to anything he physically touches.
It was a copy of the US Tax Code. Its density is technically immeasurable... 🙃
@@Tracker947 - that really isn't how it works
Okay but can superman pull two interlaced books apart?
I’m sorry, but this whole movie is based on Superman not being able to go too close to the sun, right? Isn’t there a comic where Superman literally sits in the sun for like, a thousand years and turns gold?
Nothing that happens in this story contradicts that. There are characters in the story that think superman is dying from too much radiation, that does not mean its really happening.
@@thegreaterconundrum Ok, good to know, I guess. I figured both were (and probably are) just excuses by the writers to tell a story.
@@FurryEskimo Maybe, but a lot of comics end in superman "dying" only for him to be brought back in the next run. Its not really uncommon. It's just fun storytelling
@@thegreaterconundrum Ehh, “fun” is subjective. At this point it feels like they’re beating a dead horse, but for some reason people ask them to keep going, so it’s not really dead. It doesn’t:t interest me anymore..
@@FurryEskimo I think killing superman is boring I agree. But bringing him back is fine, because I like him as a character and still think there is a lot to say with him. Most writers get him wrong, but the ones that do it right end up being some of my favorite philosophically interesting comics.
I am more impressed with the floor because it was able to withstand the 200 quintilion pounds from the weight but also from the 200 quintilion pounds of force superman used to lift the with too.
Nah dw he's floating an mm off the ground I promise 😂
@@michaellabonte6390 he actually IS. According to comics and as was demonstrated in this very animated movie, superman's body generated a "bio electric field", a sorta force field a couple mm from his skin. So, technically, he is never touching the ground.
This number is so stupid its like it was written by a five year old that wanted to show off how powerful his version of superman is.
@@Gantali9305 If you research this number, you would find how small it actually is. 200 quintillion is still only 1/30th of the earth's mass. In other words, he would have to lift 30 times this weight to lift a planet the size of the earth.....Which is something he easily does or even exceeds on a regular basis in his ongoing comic book.
@@pullcarsmelly8051 ik about the tactile telekinesis bio electric field but I didn't know he always be floating the it's honestly a logical conc
You missed a detail at the end where in the end, Luthor's work with Superman's DNA meant that Loid could have Clarks' baby after all.
Superman has a descendant in the future. We knew it was going to happen
Wait... if Superman could communicate with his descendants then tell Lois he couldn't have had children because of their different biology did...
...did Luthor save the world by giving Quinton his research on Superman and Quinton created a way for Lois to give birth to a Superman child?
Yes.
If Superman can carry all that weight.... then
WHAT..... is carrying him.... AND that weight???
How durable was the floor? 😂😂😂😂
This movie really epitomises the term "this is MY interpretation of Superman!", The writers own spin on how he sees superman
It’s pretty stupid and why marvel and DC are looked down on
@@boogus1670 I've been watching superman the animated series from the 90s, and while in that one they did make superman seem weaker then in his comic book interpretation, they kept his principles and character as you would expect, so a little change sometimes is fine, but not to the degree of someone wanting to break the character down into something unrecognizable
That's EVERY writer. The original Superman couldn't even fly. He could just leap over tall buildings. Silver age Superman was a full on asshole who murdered people. Your point seems like a criticism, but you're wooshing over the actual reality.
Pretty much every comic book since it's being written by various authors.
This one was based on the work of grant morrison though and it's very good.
@@boogus1670It's really not.
Did Superman not have that weird ability yet where he could dump all of his power in a single blast at someone or something? That should have gotten rid of the extra energy and allowed him to become normal superman again.
This story was based on the All-Star Superman Comic which released in 2006 and ran till 2008. Even this animated film released in Feb 2011. Superman didn't get his solar flare power until New 52 which was first launched in August 2011.
Also All-Star Superman doesn't have direct ties to the main DC continuity or any of it's universes. It was created so writers can write a story about Superman without worrying about past or future consequences to the main DC Story.
Superman's abilities depend on the person writing him. Seigel and Shuster's version couldn't fly. Later writers just gave him a deus ex machina power on top of his standard set in each story to save the day. Modern writers stick to his standard set with a few minor changes here and there. He truly is a blank canvas.
His superflare powers are something that his New52 version discovered in 2014 while this movie comes out in 2011.
At the same time, New52 Superman died because he abused that ability, destroying his cells.
Best superman animated movie
"Give it back. I saw everything. I saw how to save the world. I could have made everyone see. If it wasn't for you, I could have saved the world."
"If it had mattered to you, Luthor, you could have saved the world years ago".
"you're right"
Is it just me or is does this entire film sound like a fever dream?
Moral of the story, always raise a sun eater when given the chance
People don't realize Superman's greatest threat is not Lex or Braniac or Darkseid ... it is literally himself. When you have great power, you have to keep yourself in check every millisecond of the day otherwise people die or your ego takes over and you become a world-ending enslaver yourself. It is only a matter of time or one bad event before Superman is a Universal threat.
Someone that paid attention to Joker's One Bad Day theory and Kal's own World of Cardboard speech in the finale for Justice League Unlimited. Nice.
@@tranz2deep Exactly this! In our own world, there are literally flesh-and-blood, 'can be killed at any time' people walking around that have the ego of God (or whatever deity you believe in) ... and other people are actually afraid of them to the point of committing atrocities for them. Imagine having that ego and the power to commit those atrocities in the MILLIONS in the blink of an eye, f'ing terrible.
Soooooo..... you are saying that even if there only is a 1% chance he will become our enemy, we have to take it as an absolute certainty, then?^^
@random.3665 there is a real world saying "Power corrupts, and Absolute power corrupts absolutely' ... and we have thousands of despots in history who have killed HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of people to prove it
Basically my fav. Superman story, and I'd like to think that this gave some inspiration to superman 1 mil because he became pure energy and sat in the sun for 15000 yrs
Man whoever wrote this story was high af.
8:41 So he put them in the phantom zone to buy time for a cure .. but he knows he is about to die and they will be trapped in the phantom zone
It was their request
@@JoJo-hx4tq yeah but they didnt know he was dying .. right?
@@crayzsmoke I think it's pretty safe to say the scientist (or someone else of trust but he seems the most logical choice) would get the phantom zone projector. He's exactly the type of guy who could figure out a cure.
Tho it begs to question did he ever ask the atom for help
At the time he didn't know if he would be able to beat his condition. So he gave them a chance. Otherwise they would have died then and there. Plus they can't get old or die there, so it's best case scenario. And yes, eventually someone would fiddle with the gun, and Kal El probably had instructions for that scientist friend of his or someone else.
Superman became the gold Superman because of this.
And bring please future.
No. This is a one shot story in its own continuity. Like the Joker movie. It's unrelated to any other timeline. In this Superman dies, but in the end it alludes to scientists cloning a near exact copy in order to have descendents. Or else him using the machine to speak with his descendents in the movie creates a time paradox.
@@gmork1090 So as the Gold Superrman (one million) not connected to any other timeline.

Superman is the Goat and the epitome of what a superhero is.
holy shit this story is all over the place 😵💫
Riddle me this. So if Superman is dead and hasn't married and procreated with Lois how can he communicate with his future descendents?
At the end of the movie, Lex gives the other scientist the ability to make a perfect clone of Superman. They were prepared for people's curiosity about a possible time paradox.
@@gmork1090 or superman ain't dead
@@TonyAlexander-on4syenergy can't be destroyed he will return

I thought going into the yellow sun would turn him into that golden superman thing.
So, technically Sups lifting 200 QUINTILLION TONS is not a feat, its a abnormality which can harm him. 🤔
Depends on the universe. Given the nature of the multiverse there’s always constants and variables
superheroes abilities, what's too much for them?, what's normal for them?, how strong they are?, how weak they are?, and even their personality and decision making abilities vary immensely from writer to writer. You'd find more stability in American politics.
@@cptcolgenltmajor9246 And, almost all of them have plot based buffs or debuffs which affects Superman's power scaling.
Yeah, much like how Steroids can give you a significant boost in strength in the short term, but in the long term they wreck your body

Translation: it depends on if the reader is stupid enough to allow the writer to insult their intelligence
There's a big hint in here that Superman returns. Indeed he must return.
In the end he says I will disintegrate into pure energy. Which we do know that energy can neither be created nor be destroyed. Meaning he will return
i wish sun eater didnt die its so cute
imagine if batman ever went up against the man who could literally lift 200 quintillion tons. he would get smashed to liquid in 0.001 seconds
Batman always has a plan. 😎👍💯
Batman:Cryptonite
Batman knows that superman always holds back, unless he’s pushed by cosmic beings like the new gods. By the time superman realizes the threat, batman would have him in too deep. However, if superman decides to kill batman, without restraint, batman would stand no chance. Once superman grabs batman, he pulls him up into the upper atmosphere, or crush his bones with a FTL punch, batman is dead.

Recapped's favorite phrase "much to the shock"
The ship, being close to the sun or 8 minutes away at lightspeed... Lex Luthor (while on Earth) was able to predict and send transmission command codes to have his "drone" to act on his surroundings.
Lex Luthor was able to predict the events 8 minutes before the events actually have happened.
To be fair, "just smash things" is not so complex a command.
All Star Superman.
I'm sure parasite would have been able to get some of that excess energy from him
Sounds to me like the story goes off the rails after Lois takes the serum from Superman
One of the greatest Superman stories ever told
I was today's year old to learn that Superman like Miguel Hara can release electro-nets
I feel like if he just went and chilled on a red sun he would be cured
That was the plot twist hahaha.
Not to be THAT guy, but superman can live in the sun
I collected this comic All Star Superman when it was new. Didn't quite love it, but it was quirky and had charm. Stood out.
My blind friend loved every minute of me watching this.. now she likes your videos
For anybody curious All-Star Superman
Can you Do a Recap on ruby gillman teenage kraken ?
Chuck Norris: “That’s cute.”
Doesn't Superman become Superman Prime because of this story?
This is my favorite Superman story regardless of medium.
At some point both companies began wildly over powering their characters. Superman, Wonder Woman, Hulk, She Hulk, Scarlet Witch, Silver Surfer have ridiculous levels of power that not only don't make sense but require really stupid plots in order to provide the characters with a challenge. Supes has come a long way from lifting a car overhead to this. Seriously, at one time the Hulk could lift up to a thousand tons which seems more than enough for Superman as well At one time Scarlet Witch could effect probability slightly and had some magical abilities and Zantana was a powerful but not all-powerful sorceress. And that's enough.
This is a weak version of superman all things considered tbh. But his villains' are just as crazy, it been this way for almost the entire history of superman. He really didnt stay in that "lifting the car
above his head stage for very long.
Frieza: am I a joke to you
@@tacoshop7722 No but he was in the lifting anf flying with an aircraft carrier, mre powerful than a locomotive. Very powerful but not lifting a trillion tons. Suspend disbelief all you want, that's just silly.
Let alone 200 quintillion tons.
@CaptainLightning1 you don't read Superman comics. Superman has been capable of this during decades. You might be old, but not too much. You also didn't even know Scarlet Witch existed until the MCU Movies, so don't pretend you did.
Superman one million
200 quintillion tons. There is NO material that can stand that amount of stress. The machine itself will fall apart, or if not, then the floor that supes is standing on will crumble and he'll be forced into the ground.
why it's a stupid cartoon. also our sun is really white as seen from space, it's not yellow! lol.
Dude , theres also no superman chill😂
Superman has a form of telekinesis that's based on touch. Essentially, he can transfer and apply his durability and strength to anything that he touches.
@@Tracker947 - that really isn't how it works

So this nixed the idea of a sun dipped superman saying if he gets to much sun he can't even metabolize it so the whole superman Prime 1 million isn't possible
I think the end of the movie could be considered the beginning of Superman's transformation into Superman 1 million.
So, fun fact, we eventually find out that Superman wasn't actually dying. He was turning into an energy being.
An energy being that needs a million years to fix a star.
you know whats funny about stories of the same characters? they're written differently to make different journeys and outcomes for the entertainment of the viewer/reader
But alot of times it is the same stories just told a different way. I swear if I see the Wayans and a uncle die again I am going to complain directly to the writers.
@@loganshaw4527 Meh. It's fundamental to the character. Sure it can be part of a Batman's story without being showed (rather mentioned or present in the character's motivations), but a 50 seconds flashback won't ruin the movie.
