- I've made a lot of dog cakes before, but I've never had a chance to make a cake that looks like my favorite dog: an English Bulldog! This dog is so dang cute, he was giving me puppy fever while I made him (DM to send me all your English Bulldog puppies)

Love your sculpted cakes!!! Hey, for the cake itself, are you using a dense pound cake? I am making my first sculpted cake (out of real cake, that is) and was going to use a box mix, maybe add some eggs to make it denser??? Any suggestions? Also, if you are doing a person/portrait (this is of a famous person), how do you figure out what size you ultimately want it to be? I don't want to end up with a huge bust, but also not a teeny tiny one....Thanks in advance, Natalie!!
I was just requested to make a “roasted pig on a platter” cake for a client, and I’m trying to figure out how I’d like to add details to the face and body. Would this be doable with fondant? I’ve never worked with modeling chocolate. If I were to switch to modeling chocolate I’d have to make sure she’s ok with the change!

That reminds me of mine, too girl, Bulldogs that I used to have before and we had to put her down Sadie and it was on a Friday, December 6. I don’t remember the year and then April 3. My mom gave Lexi a pill. She had a little problem and then they went out to eat outside pizza, giving her the pepperoni she walked in, kind of funny and then the next thing you know, my mom was doing the dishes. Next thing you know Lexi was going down into her arms and passed away in house and that cake reminds me of them and I like it that English bulldog cake it just reminds me of my girls bulldogs.

Most carved cakes like this range between $12 and $20 per slice depending on how much detail goes into it. You pay for the ingredients, time, and artistry.
