    I just came to your YT page because I follow VS Code on TikTok and I swore I heard your voice in one on one of their videos and yup I was right it was you!! Congrats!! 🎉

    This looks awesome! I've used dev containers with code spaces but this is the first time I've seen them pitched properly for a local environment as well. Totally makes sense to use them to ensure everyone has exactly the same base environment

      Exactly! I feel like it’s so underrated still.

    These are tools that are actually used in production and roles. Learn to use them in your personal projects.

    I've been using WSL on my Windows machine to do this for a while...but man, Dev Containers looks much more flexible. Got to look at using this now. Thanks for the walk through! 🤜

      I love it. Sooooooooo much more convenient.

    That makes it convenient to have a container that can run anything you need without it being local, this seems great for testing as well. The material was a little confusing because i'm not that far into my cloud journey and haven't messed with containers yet, but I was able to understand it slightly.

      Good on you for watching, try that last example on your own and let me know how it goes :)

      @@MadeByGPS I will for sure, I program in Python mainly so it's nice that this is available in different languages and has a ton of templates.

      @@MadeByGPS It's crazy how you can just be in a container running Python, then close it and be back to my local system without any interruptions. Could you please explain the main advantages of running something in a container like this? I just want to be able to understand it more and couldn't quite understand it from the video, I'm more of a hands on and visual learner. Thank you!

      @@michaelcronk What if you needed to work with a different version of python on your machine? without a container how would you approach it?

    • @michaelcronk
      @michaelcronk 6 місяців тому

      @@MadeByGPS Ahhh, I see. Without it you would have to downgrade to a different version locally, which is not efficient and annoying. Thanks again, I understand it now. 👍🏽

    What software do you use for recording videos? To be more specific, the circle you use to capture your face comes from where?

      My camera, audio, and screen are all sources in OBS. I’ve setup of different scenes and switch through them when I need to. Most of my videos are one take. Editing is only a little bit of audio enhancing.

    Do you mentor people who are trying to get into cloud? I’m starting the aws cloud institute which will take a year. I’m getting a degree as well but I’d like to pay you for career mentorship ?

      What are your thoughts on learning ansible? Is it a tool you use? Would you recommend it for an aspiring cloud engineer?@@MadeByGPS
