I replaced the battery today in my Moto G5 Plus and I declare now NEVER to do it again. I took the phone originally to a phone repair place and they said they would not guarantee not to break the face of the phone and would charge 70.00 for the privailage. I had already bought the battery and tools and adhesive to replace it, so I said what the hell I will give it a try. So I got my wife's hair dryer and off I went. Things went well, No broken face. SUCCESS! All except the adhesive didn't match the phone so I did patchwork on it. The stepo where they took out the motherboard I could see a reason and I shipped that step altogether. Phone works...But never again...
Thanks you for the help. Just a comment: at 6:23 when insert the backplane, there is a little lock in the upper side, near the earspeaker that must insert in a very litlle slot on the body. If it doesn´t insert, the equipment not work. Regards
Beautiful job. But why did they make it so difficult to replace the battery? On the regular Moto G5 (not "Plus" version) the battery just snaps right out and in after removing the back plate.
My partner's G5S was very easy to open as the battery had swollen and pushed the touch screen away from the housing; I only had to use heat on the button. The only snag was the internals were a little different but I soon sussed it out. The battery came out without heat too; I suspect it has been getting pretty warm.
Excellent video. Thanks for uploading. This device is pretty complicated to take apart. What's the name of the tool you use to heat the plastic/adhesive?
where do i get the adhesive? oh yea and is this the same for the motorola g5s(not plus version) bc like online i can never find the g5s only g5s plus online and i have no clue if its the same for both
Good video tutorial. Now 2020 and on the fence to replace. I don't like changing out phones and I don't like this process to replace a battery. It is almost criminal. There is NO WAY all the people shoving climate change down our throats can think this will lead to cutting down climate change. If one has $300 they will buy another phone. Then what happens to the old phone???? It is in a ditch or landfill.
Probably really easy to warp or crack the screen on your phone using a heat gun.I would just score the crack several times. You might get away with using heat on the sensor...maybe.

I don't know much but think it should be fixed. can you tell me is it a problem ? or there nothing to worry about. please help
I've got this problem. It's too much work. Next time I'll get a phone that you can change the battery more easily. It shouldn't be allowed to make phone's like this.
My battery expanded on my moto g3, it had a similar battery and replacement method, however the screen never worked again, it did make some noises though. HOWEVER I did have problem of my own making, a couple of the screws are hidden under black glue, effectively invisible, so I removed all the screws I could see, thinking that was the lot, but I missed the, I then obviously had trouble separating the thing until I realised there were still a couple of screws in, I guess I damaged it using too much force. Now the battery on my G5s has also expanded and I will have to replace it. I vowed never to by a non-replaceable battery type again and say the G5 had a replaceable battery, I thus assumed the G5s did too, but obviously it has not, I was so pissed off when I discovered that mistake. I won't replace it yet as the expansion is not that bad but it gets worse I think. Has anyone actually successfully changed the battery? I note no one says so.
@@IcyJay30 Yes but I am so annoyed I never noticed two hidden screws and probably used too much force before I realise my error. I will never know if I would have been successful had I removed those two screws when I should have. I still have not attempted to change the battery my new phone a G5.. It works OK but almost one side of the screen is separated from the base. I feel so stupid I screwed up on the first phone. Only one person has reported doing this with success and it seems they broke a part and had to order a new one. SO it seems difficult! The screen separation is getting progressively worse, but still that will make removing the screen easier so I will let it progress further. I will also have to sort out which new phone to get should I break this one too. Obviously I am not too keen on Motorola given my experiences!
I fixed my new phone! The battery was expanding and then the screen broke.. I changed battery ok but I damaged my new screen, I bought a second screen and was successful on my second attempt, I am so proud I finally fixed it, it is very difficult though,
I don't understand what battery cannot be replaced just like it would in the older phone models. We should be repairing electronics instead of dumping them the battery is spent. Think Green!
