No breaking down in this one, since it only has one lane going each way which makes it even scarier because I bet there must have been quite a few head-ons with this one....
Happen to be looking at The Weather Channel tonight following a line of thunderstorms and came across a listing of The World's 20 Most Amazing Tunnels. Which is how I ended up here..... Anyway there are about 14 still photos of this tunnel. You might like some of the shots taken there. I was a bit disappointed when I saw the video, not because of the filming or anything like that. It's a great video. But the stills do give a moment in time of the beauty you saw at !:00 and a bit more.
That's a smegging long tunnel! Clever Norwegians, putting bits in to be like daylight so you wouldn't get too sick of tunnelness. In most of Europe, the , means a decimal point. In the UK and US we use a dot . instead. So it would be 24.510km. A comma denotes a separation of a large number like 2,400,000.232 or something like that. That's where the confusion lies!
That's about 3/4 of the circumference of the earth at the equator. Actually, that is the circumference of the earth at the equator in miles, give or take a few hundred miles.
@Hexachloraphine You see in English you say for example "ten point five kilometers" where as in other languages it's more common to say "ten comma five kilometres" which is why it's more common actually to use a comma to distinguish between digits and decimals and a period(point) in numbers such as three thousand (3.000).
also like how it does have places to pull over to the right, in case all of the darkness makes you feel a little on the sleepy side....LOL. at regular speed about how long does it take a vehicle to go from one end to the other?
@charlieiscool1000 He means the world's longest car tunnel. There are many longer train tunnels, but if you see a list of the longest car tunnels, you will see that this is the longest (by far).
I know what your talking about, I would rather have the whole tunnel Blue like that instear of almost complete darkness, I would hate to be the person who is in charge of changing the bulbs in any of those lights throughout the whole length of the tunnel....
@keykey1337 It's not the world's longest tunnel anymore! Today in Switzerland we have inaugurated the opening of the new longest tunnel in the world : the Gothard Tunnel (57 km!!!). So, you can change the title of your video ;-)
HAHA OK First thing, it's not the worlds longest. Second thing, its 24,510 METERS long... not KILOMETERS. Thats 15.2 miles. If it was 24,000KMs long you would need to drive for a good year at 100KM to reach the end. xD
Nice Video showing the Longest Tunnel.
Thanks & Regards,
Prashant S Akerkar
Veri beautiful tunnel
@FiatLux47 but that is for trains
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO HOLD YOUR BREATH when driving thru THIS tunnel !!!

@keykey1337 I think you should change the , to . since the description is written in English. Just to reduce the misunderstandings.
You Definitely Do Not Want Your Car To Break Down In A Tunnel!
