In finland we dont hate swedes. Its just kind of not serious hate. We just love to fuck around with swedes, mostly because of hockey. We call you gays and you call us patriotic, melancolic and also alcoholic fuckheads. Pretty fair right? I fucking hated learning swedish language at school. Its frustrating. Its just not easy when you have to learn english, swedish and in gollege you sometimes have to choose third language.
I have met Swedes who moved from Finland to Sweden to avoid harassement and discrimination in Finland. Finns seems to believe that all Swedes in Finland are Bättre Svendktalande Folk and deserves to be beaten up because of their privillges, like living in a mansion with Finnish speaking servants and being entitled to free scholarsshios for everything and so on.
Tango Smurf'en well its pertty normal in finland that someone is being threatened for no reason. Its normal life here kind of. I have been beaten up for being a child of teacher and here i still am. I dont agree that its fair or ok but thats just truth.
the thing with "all swedes are gays" is mostly just a national joke between us finns, i remember when during high school we went to stocholm with my class and one of our mates was drunk, he started saying "all swedes are gays" and stuff like that (not in public thank god), normally we would just ignore him or hell even join him! but since we were visiting sweden and were gests in the country, we asked him to stop it, it wasnt funny anymore, just rude at this point even tho there werent any swedes near us hearing our conversation (in finnish....)
It's not rude at all. That's your biggest mistake, that you seem to think that saying someone is "gay" is offending. We just feel sorry for you when we hear that we are "gay". You're basically making fun of us for not being narrow minded and stuck in outdated notions.
the point was we only say it as a stupid joke but there are limits how long a joke stays a joke, and my point was he was being rude as fuck, if i were to come to Sweden and start talking shit about you guys just because you are swedes, i find that rude as fuck. Hell we dont even use the word gay as an insult anymore, hasnt been used for years, mostly kids who have just learned name calling do that.....
Yeah we know its just a joke. We swedes mess around with the danish and norwegians as well - I think all scandinavians mess with each other in some way.
As a Finn, I agree with all of the Swedish perceptions of Finns except for the language sounding harsh haha. Ofcourse only a minority of us is exactly like those stereotypes, but those people are definitely out there. Same goes probably with the Swedish stereotypes. :) I love all the nordic countries, us Finns just have often felt outsiders thanks to our weird-ass language and our pretty dark history, which still reflects our thinking beyond generations, whether we like it or not!
Finland is a part of the nordics, don't feel left out. By this point with many hundred years of shared history we have shared blood. I know you have a harsh history (partly because we failed you earlier). Out of all the nordic countries, Finland would be the first one I would volunteer to defend, closely followed by little brother Norway.
@madelfuns a what does skin colour have to do with it why do sjw always bring up skin colour and no I'm saying that because they are the only immigrants I have interactions with and what immigrants can't have skin colour besides brown
I'm from Finland. The reason why Felix insults Finland (perhaps not always seriously) is because Sweden and Finland basically have a love-hate relationship and we have a lot of competition, mainly in ice hockey. Also, we commonly make fun of Sweden and swedish people, so that has caused them to make fun of us as well, which is understandable, since we initially started it :D
(American here) My good friend is first Gen American, and his mom (Ritva) is from Finland. One day, he gives me Salmiakki, and I love it. Another visit, his mother said "Ron, would you like to try *real* Salmiakki? She says that the stuff that he gave me was too sweet, more for children. I laugh, because it is pretty salty, but accept her offering. WOW! Ritva's Salmiakki was SO much saltier, and strong tasting. Now we both make fun of my friend and his Salmiakki-for-children. :D Also, when I visit, I say "Hello Ritva, how is your day going?" She always replies "Well, I'm not dead yet..." I love her deadpan humor. Wonderful lady.
The whole "Sweden is gay" etc. joke (if you can call it that) has some historical roots. Homosexuality was legalized in Sweden in 1944 (c.f. 1971 in Finland). This reflected also with the acceptance and attitudes towards gay and LGBT people. This not only made Finns (who truly were more homophobic at the time, probably due to influence from the Soviet Union...) joke about the "gayness of Sweden", but it also made a lot of Finnish gay people move to Sweden, decreasing the amount of gays in Finland and increase in Sweden. Of course rights and attitudes are different now, but sadly the "joke" has still stayed. Although I would say that the idea of masculinity is still different in Finnish and Swedish cultures, also contributing to a bunch of homophobes saying "Sweden is gay lol".
How does Finnish sound harsh? It doesn't even have many consonants. Maybe Swedes think that, but I'm a native speaker of a language that's considered to be pretty harsh, so maybe my ears aren't so sensitive. xD
+Nackagubben, well speaking about the tone of speaking, to finns swedish sounds almost like singing. (see, not everything finns think about swedish is negative ;) ) in swedish words sound to go up and down... maybe that is part of the feeling different?
I think it must come from the stereotype that Finns are angry/grumpy all the time. When you look at the language itself, it favours soft consonants like H, M, N and L. That's also why Tolkien took inspiration from Finnish when creating the elvish languages in his books.
Nackagubben Yeah, probably. My native language happens to be German, and if you pronounce it like Hitler in his speeches, then of course you sound harsh, but normal German sounds completely different.
As a Finn, I agree completely :D That's really interesting. Finnic culture is really melancholic and harsh compared to germanic cultures. There are slight bitterness from Swedish rule, but I think most of the people in Finland think Swedes are generally good people. Greetings from Finland, our dear western neighbours!
@finnicpatriot6399 In fact, it remained a widely accepted view in Sweden proper that the Finns were in principle a separate and conquered people and therefore not necessarily entitled to be treated equitably with Swedes. Swedish kings visited Finland rarely and in Swedish contemporary texts Finns were often portrayed as primitive and their language inferior....
Swedish language does sound VERY gay to a finnish person, its so close to the stereotypical happy gay guy with the weird emphasis on certain parts of a sentence, the tone and sort of attitude, i remember hearing about a study that said sweden is the gayest country in the world, but again idk if thats actually true or just something we assume and spread around.
sugibudder Wouldn't be surprised if we were. You haven't seen the gay propaganda they spread around here. And yeah the swedish language does make people sound gayer. Like infinitely gayer than say Finnish or Russian and it's because of our tonal sounds in words.
Okay first of all: Not all types of metal are "aggressive" :D It's a very common stereotype and i just had to make it clear! :D There is a lot of very beautiful melodic metal :] It's kinda funny to hear all this from a third person view :D I don't think finnish is a harsh language. I love the language and i could listen to it all the time :D
Dragana Heartfilia Thats nice to hear. Im finn. So its nice when someone thinks that finnish sounds beautiful. My favourite word is 'lilja', in english its lily. It just sounds so clean and fresh.
xX_ouchzii_Xx madafaka Hey hey easy there! If someone from Syria is acting stupid, it doesn't mean that all people from Syria are acting stupid too. Or Somalia. Or any country. If one finn is stupid, it doesn't mean, that all finns would bee stupid too.
Jaeger233 And same for you. I'm not angry, just remember, that all the people from any cantry are not same. Every country has stupid acting people and clever acting people. Just remember that. Don't be that stupid acting person.
Oooh I remember that match. I don't remember the year but you mean when Finland took the lead and Sweden turned the whole game around?!. Right? I'm Swedish but no Swedish keyboard. Live in Thailand so I'm sorry, kan inte skriva svenska. Har inte dom sista bokst I alfabetet
@@heavymeddle28 Pretty sure he is talking about 2011 world championship match when Finland beat Sweden 6-1. He wouldnt have put "finland is best" if Finland lost.
To me Finnish sounds so soft actually, it is so beautiful. I love how Finns pronounce the sounds S, T, D and R. Yeah the R is the only really harsh sound in Finnish, to my ears. I would go there just to hear them talking
The notion in Finland we think that all Swedes are gay comes from history. After the war there was shift to more traditional gender norms. Manly men and womanly women. In Sweden same-sex sexual activity was legalised in 1944 and in Finland you were used as an example: "We are not like those immoral Swedes where being gay is ok". Also, we don't study Swedish because Sweden but because we have our own Swedish speaking Finns. Studying Swedish is seen as a way to preserve the language here in Finland. It's debatable how well it is working.
I guess it's the same as when Americans say that "Europeans are gay". The question is not why you think Swedes are "gay". The question is why you think it's something bad, something to make fun of. Why you, still, seem to have these outdated notions in your society - and not only that, so proudly showcasing your ignorance. And (correct me if I'm wrong) you seem to think this somehow hurt's the Swedes? Swedes make fun of Finns for being so backwards as to make fun of Swedes for "being gay". Like, get with the times. Are you still in 1944?
I cheer for finland in ice hocket, and i think they are more interesting than sweden. But they are not better overall. Overall finland are without a doubt worse than sweden at ice hockey.
I only have one Finnish friend so my opinion is not legitimate whatsoever, but I agreed with pretty much everything in this video apart from the harsh sounding language... ^^ I find Finnish weirdly mesmerising and melodic, and I love how deep the voices sound (but maybe it's just his voice ^^)
Ellinoora Koivula Hahaha ! Well, I'm French and in certain areas they have weird accents that make them sound silly, but overall, I think French is ok ^^ ! I believe it's hard not to like our own languages because we're used to them haha, but it's also easy to notice what sounds unusual or interesting or pretty in other idioms, which is pretty cool (:
Swedes are huge on heavy metal, too lol. Sweden, Finland, Germany, etc. - keep making awesome power metal to entertain this American boy! :D PS I love Sweden.
I was in Finland a few weeks ago. I was staying with Finns and they had nothing but nice things to say about the Swedes. They were described as great neighbours and they were grateful in particular for the help the Swedes gave them against the Russians.
It is wierd, but in Australia I met swedish ppl more than living in Finland. I was surprised how warm and nice they were. I made quite a few friends with them.
He looks so scared :( I'm so ashamed of those Finns who posted those homophobic comments! The majority of Finnish people are not homophobic (at least that's what I believe from my own experience as a Finnish girl) And also we're not a scary nation! Don't be afraid 😅😅 Let's all just be friends :D (but also damn I want to have a looong talk with the people who said those hateful things!)
I'm Finn and this is the funniest and the most truthful video I've seen in a while! You just made me laugh So hard, you got yourself a new subscriber XD
2:50 "Wait did I see my avatar? .. I didn't even remember writing that.." I meant it in a joking way. Well of course you wouldn't know that. If you pick up a finnish joke book, it's almost a guarantee that there will be jokes about swedes being gay. So it really is a thing in Finland, about swedes being gay. In my group of friends, gay isn't an insult. Or well, it's jokingly said insult, kinda like any other "mean name" we call each other. Of course I wouldn't call a stranger gay. But I wouldn't call a stranger cunthead either. And since I'm finnish, I don't talk to strangers anyway. Finn logic: Won't talk even to their neighbours, call's the population of an entire country gay.
New American viewer here! I just wanted to take a second to say that I really love your attitude and approach to things. You seem so kind and laid back. Even with controversial topics, you are very unbiased and respectful and humble. That’s hard to find nowadays. Maybe that’s just the Swedish way. Anyways, splendid video! :3
I am so embarrassed of my fellow Finns around this comment section. "All Swedes are gay!" Kinda comments are just... so immature. I am here thinking, am I really surrounded my 12 year old people...
Ive always thought Finnish must sound awful to swedes. Much like Russia sounds horrible to us. What we Finns think of swedes? Imho social, fashionable, good looking and an eternal enemy in ice hockey.
what sweden think of Finns? masculine, machos, asian looking, booze lovers, introverted if not on alcohol, always wearing stonewashed jeans and tracksuits.
My father came to Sweden from Finland in the late 1960's worked at Volvo, got used to alot of bad words, always called, ''finnjävel'' no one raised an eyebrow, but when someone calls someone for ''blatte'', then you are suddenly in a blazing inferno.
I'm half Swede, but I love Finland. The Ostrobothnia area is really nice and more Swede friendly. I love the Finnish language, and their music scene is awesome. When this CV crisis is over I'm going back, and then riding the boat to Sweden.
i don't really care what people think about sweden, but it really hurts when people just don't accept people who like the same gender as themselves. most sweds accept things like that, we are really openminded and we express our feelings. i guess to some people expressing your feelings is gay, being a guy and hug another guy seems kind of gay to some? but we just really like to show affektion to everybody. who cares? we do our thing and you do yours.
Finns don't learn Swedish because Finland was a part of Sweden, but because Swedish is one of TWO official languages in Finland (the other being Finnish, obviously). Learning Russian is not mandatory even if Finland was a part of Russia. The Finns had to start learning Swedish in 70's in case the student would become a public official, and therefore have to know both official languages of the country. Swedish is not an optional language because everyone should have a basic understanding of both official languages.
Yes (or because a lot of Swedes moved to Finland and Finns started speaking Swedish and it was the administrative language, and later nationalism arose and Russia decided that both Swedish and Finnish should be administrative languages), but Finns still learn Swedish because it's a official language and not because Finland once belonged to Sweden.
Well it's quite a difference. If it was because Finland belonged to Sweden Finns would have mandatory Russian as well, as Finland used to be a part of Russia.
There are some dislike in Finland about both Swedes and Russians, it comes from the history. They both have torn our country from two sides and use it as a battlegroud for centuries. Finland also payed a horrific price from Swedens passion of dominating the Baltic sea. It's all about the history 😊
Of course we finns joke a lot about the swedes, and it's cool to "hate" the swedes, but in the end of the day, if something very serious happened in Finland or in Europe, for example a natural disaster or a war, all jokes would go aside and Sweden would be the first friend we would ask help from. I've travelled in Sweden on several occasions and to me the country looks like a happy version of Finland. It's inevitable for grumpy finns to envy that happiness.
kimmo Virtanen Yeah those swedish volunteers in the winter wars were just Soviet bots. And all those refugees from Finland who came here to Sweden where also just imaginary Finnish. Yeah you are so correct man.
Somebody mentioned knives. As a Finn i associate a drunk Finn with a knife more to historical times (1800s to 1970s) than the last 30 years. In comparison younger generations drink less. I'm born 1984 so i'm between people who drink a lot and people who don't drink much. There was a severe depression in Finland 1991-1993 and it overshadowed the whole 90s (basically ended only by late 90s Nokia/IT boom). At it's peak 18.9% of people were unemployed so kids born in the 70s had very rough time getting into worklife and us 80s born kids probably had kinda poor childhood. Personally i wasted 2000-2009 studying and not getting a profession. When i FINALLY got a profession 2012 then the 2008-2018? recession is still going and i'm having a hard time getting into worklife in my 30s. Kids born in the 80s in Finland are veterans 2 recessions. What a weird rant LOL
Just to clarify, Swedish isn't taught in schools here because Finland used to be a part of Sweden and it's a tradition, it's solely because of the fact that Swedish is one of our two national languages with about 5% of the population being so called "finswedes"
It's been interesting to note the differences between Finns and Swedes in big gaming meetups I've been to which have included mostly Finns (since they've been in Finland), some Swedes, and a few from other countries. Observation number one: yes, it's true that Finns are/can be quite quiet. Often it's because we don't have anything of importance to say or because we want to listen what the other person has to say first. The Swedes though, oh my God they can be so incredibly loud. They have been such social butterflies and the life of the party, which on the other hand is nice, but on the other hand it gets irritating pretty fast with interrupting others and generally being just...loud. The Swedes I know have also had extremely thought-out views on politics and seem to be quite well on the left in the political scale, and enjoy spreading their political opinions to a fault. Anecdotal, yes, but on the other hand Sweden is known to be proud of being so open-minded etc. (which I gotta point out is often quite hypocritical). In Finland sharing your political opinion is (or at least has been) kind of a taboo. Just like religion, you don't really talk about it and let others do their own thang. Also, this is pretty the stereotype of how Finns view Swedes: ua-cam.com/video/pw3e64sosEg/v-deo.html =D
Rybentor If talking about politics is taboo, that's pretty bad. I mean come on. Religion I get but politics is important sometimes. And you are right when you say swedes are left leaning. Because we really are. And our opinions usually are pretty shallow and dumb. Like oh he said mass migration is bad, he must be a Nazi.
The Finnish language is super weird. You can speak it in a "harsh" way, or a very "soft" way. Basically the story behind the language is that several tribal dialects of finnic were in the area before most of our ancestors came there. Later on the tribes had contact with the proto-germans, with many proto-german words coming into finnish (Kuningaz, Druhtinaz, Thurisaz -> Kuningas, Ruhtinas, Turisas etc.). Most of the land was inhabited by the Sami people, but they moved gradually further north as the Finnic tribes in the south west grew. Then, during the Viking age the Swedes colonised Åland and started engaging in trade with the Western tribes, and more scandinavian influence started trickling in. Then Finland became part of Sweden, and the Swedes wanted a uniform language in the area to help deal with administration and religion, so the King gave a guy called Mikael Agricola permission to formulate a standard form of Finnish. However, the tribal dialects were very different and lacked many words and grammar rules, so Agricola took a couple western dialects, added in some Swedish, some German and some things from Latin. In the end what we had was pretty much the mess you now call "Finnish", which doesn't really even resemble other languages related to it all that much. Btw, the "gay" thing is because being gay was legalised in Sweden before it was in Finland, so all the Finnish gays back then moved into Sweden, and it turned into a running joke which has been going on for a very, very long time. As for the rest of the thrash talk, that's mostly because Finland is so similar to Sweden; it's basically Sweden's younger brother, so that's why there's this kind of teasing/boasting going on. You can still see it in modern day politics and other affairs that Sweden does still hold some real influence in Finland. For example Finnish politicians have generally not minded what for example French politicians want or say, but when Swedish politicians do something, Finnish politicians usually do the same thing, and they use phrases like "it works in Sweden, so..." Also most of the "cool" and "hip" new things come into Finland through Sweden, like fashion booms or music/art styles.
Thanks for being so nice to us. I don't know why so many Finnish people think insulting Swedish people is funny, because it's not. It's probably our national mentality and not tied to Sweden at all. We just can't handle it if someone is better than us in something. It's very archaic and stupid but what can you do? However, we love the Swedish royal family and we love sailing to Stockholm for a day. I guess we like acting like "the jealous little sister" -trope, since we've been keeping it up for a century. I still think, that if you Swedish people need us, we'll be there, just like you've been there for us in history. Still feels awkward saying anything at all. I just really can't let it go, when people don't realise they're being rude.
No we portray Swedish men as gay, it's a running joke here and not meant as an serious insult at all, it's basically primary school level joking. My two gay former roommates make those jokes all the time, that's how not seriously they're meant, Swedes seem to be the ones that think it's a serious insult (I've never seen being called gay as an insult as I see absolutely nothing wrong with being gay) so maybe it says more about the Swedes that take it seriously than the Finns that tell those jokes 😜 Also the hatred some exhibit might also have something (maybe just a little more than the forced Swedish classes) to do with the bad treatment under Swedish rule where Finnish wasn't even a recognised language at all, Swedes establishing a Swedish elite in the country that to this day holds a ridiculous amount of power and wealth compared to their population (which actually is why we still have those mandatory Swedish classes) some of who to this day don't basically speak any Finnish and only socialize with other Finland-Swenska people keeping the power and wealth tightly within that small elitist minority, our men of age being forced to serve in the Swedish army and die in wars we had absolutely no say in... and like with all Sweden's neighboring countries standing by during WW2 while ALL your neighbors were fighting for their lives and Swedes actually selling the ones they were fighting against (both the Nazis and the Soviets) raw materials INSTRUMENTAL for keeping their war machines going, this was especially true in the case of Nazi Germany and Norway actually got invaded specifically to protect the extremely crucial metal shipments from Sweden to Germany... So yeah, generations of bloodshed (Norway and Sweden were at war many times throughout history as we're Denmark and Sweden and like I said earlier Finns were forced to die for Sweden in those wars while also being treated rather badly by them) and Sweden providing the enemies of their neighboring countries with raw materials that were used against them during WW2 seems much more likely explanation. Basically during WW2 ALL of Sweden's neighbors were devastated by war needing years to rebuild their industries and economies while Sweden actually profited and got richer from the war and therefore at least partly FROM THE SUFFERING OF THEIR NEIGHBOURS. I have Swedish relatives so I truly don't hate Swedes at all except for some stupid individuals, but the Swedes that try to act like the bad blood towards them is caused by something other than the previously mentioned events I do dislike and sometimes even hate if they're especially brazen about that denial of facts. To return to the point about those gay jokes not being serious insults, if I were to make a seriously insulting joke about Swedes I would say something like "Sweden the country that made Nazi Germany's war machine possible and whose economy to this day profits from wealth gotten from the Nazi gold they got for doing so." but that's really mean spirited and I would never do so, so when I get annoyed with Swedes I make gay jokes instead because they're not serious, it's a bit like when you were a kid and you called your friend a "homo" or something like that. Sorry for the super heavy subject matter of this comment but I felt this needed to be said since I didn't see any other commitments pointing out the more serious side of the bad blood... To be clear most Finns nowadays don't actually hate Swedes, most don't even actually find them especially annoying, except when there's a hockey game between Sweden and Finland, then Swedes are the scum of the earth! 😂
You have a big amount of metal bands per capita as well. We have more, though. About the gay jokes, i think its funny you had a pink background. Did you do that on purpose :D ? Now we dont hate Swedes at all. Hating people who are so polite would make us feel like assholes :D More seriously though. If there are real general criticisms towards Sweden in Finland, i think it would be the excessively destructive immigration policies you have been having, and the lack of freedom of speech (clamping down on "hatespeech") and generally having too much hypocritical pc-culture. I know that doesent apply to all Swedes, but if we are to talk of negatives, i think thats what i and many others would point out to. We have the same kind of issues, just on a smaller scale. That aside, Swedish people seem very polite and nice, and i wouldnt see a reason why i would have something against Swedes. When not lingering into regressive hypocrisy, openness and tolerance are good virtues which seems to characterize the Swedish mindset. Honestly, though, i dont personally know any Swedes so this is all just an impression i have. Anyway cheers :)
I'm a Finn. I have visited all European countries having a coast line (by profession) and some others on this planet. Coming to Sweden is like coming home. Instant connection with people. What I have learned, you people just love us. And I can say, that we actually honestly just love you. (Except icehockey which = war)
A thing many Sweedes forget is that there are people born in Finland with swedish as a first language (about 5% of Finns speak swedish). And that is the main reason that people have to learn swedish in school. Not because we were a part of Sweden, but because there are swedish speaking Finns still living in Finland.
I think it's great to gain some insight on this matter. I guess Finns in general may be more interested in what Swedes think of Finns than Swedes are about what Finns think of Swedes. I might be wrong, it's just a gut feeling. Maybe it's a confidence thing or just related to history or something. Honestly, basically every Swede I've ever talked to about this has regarded Finland a "little brother" of some kind. Historically speaking it's pretty understandable. Finns may sometimes be pissed off about that, since Finland has been a separate entity for quite some time now and has done pretty well as a country and as a nation. Then again, much of what Finland has done (politically, for instance) has been based on Sweden's blueprint. Also, I don't think calling Finland a little brother is meant as an insult per se, but more as a pat-in-the-back kind of thing. We share so much after all. I have no doubt that stereotypes live on to an extent on both sides of Gulf of Bothnia and it's not just a bad thing. Actually believing all Swedes are gay or all Finns carry a knife is just silly, of course, but stereotypes are also a manifestation of thinking about the "target" of the stereotype. The fact that Swedes and Finns have stereotypes of one another shows that we have to know stuff about each other. Despite completely different languages, the hockey rivalry and so on, we're close in many ways an share a great deal. The same goes with the rest of the Nordics, even If Finland stands out a bit being slightly quirky. Pohjola-Norden for the win, I say.
You mean it includes compulsory lessons of Finnish and English. And makes pupils and students waste time, energy and drive in the message of post-colonialism with Swedish.
I think most of your commentary was spot on...in my 40+ years experience the Finns don't "hate" the Swedes by any measure, it's friendly infighting at best. Finns tend to appreciate the Swedes as the culture/mindset that's the closest to Finland's own...those mutual national stereotypes you mention do seem to have some basis in fact, but are mostly recocgnised by both of our countries to be camp stereotypes used in comedy etc.
Very few people know that one official minority language in Sweden is "meän kieli" which common in both sides on border river Tornio ( Tornionjoki = Torne älv). It is one of finish dialects and very similar to dialect spoken in Finmark Norway.
I like swedes and think that we are brothers and have this very special bound between us. Learning swedish is good thing, beacouse se have swedish speaking minority and learning swedish gives you a lot of understanding about Nordic countries.
Suomalaiset, svenskar, nordmenn, danskere, føroyingar, íslendingar.. All brothers and sisters to me. :) It's fun watching videos like this, Nordic people poking fun at each other. Much love from Finland.
I wanna see what the swedes think of the united states over here in Georgia everyone thinks of vikings, blue eyed blonde hair people and thats about it actually oh and swedish fish
Liam Culpepper most of us are not blond and blue eyed vikings. *Said the blond and blue eyed girl who's helping out at the local, annual Vikings market this weekend x'D But really we're more diverse than that^^ hope you'll visit one day and experience this beautiful (I'm not bias at all) country for yourself :D
My Nilebo i want to but my friend Simon who lives in Sweden said the muslims mest everything up i dont know what to believe and i really wanna go because vikings are my life xD
Liam Culpepper hahah ok. Sounds like me and Simon have different takes on reality then (and probably vastly different views on politics). I'm not denying there are issues in Sweden, but most of them have very little to do with Muslims or immigrants :p
Big cities and large urban centers are mostly affected by large immigrant and muslim minorities(in some regions majorities) but smaller cities and countryside are Swedish.
Im a gay person in finland and I have gone to hit guys in bars and they have allways taken it really well! But for some reason a lot of people here use the gay word as an insult witch is using the word in wrong way. Even some of my friends use it and im like what did you say!!??
Du är jätte duktig!!! Detta var en fin video!!! Finland har ju hört till Sverige ca 650 år. Då pratade man svenska i Finland.
Finnish people actually hate swedish people becouse you guys are often so arrogant and your language sounds so childist and also finnish people think svedish men are kinda unmanly becouse of the swedish langauge pronunciation and also becouse most of swedish men havent been in army until this year? i dont remember
I'm American. I also lived in Ontario, Canada for 10 years (consolidated 6 years in and out of Canada and the States), 1 year in Finland and have been to Sweden 6 times. Overall, I see Swedes as: loud, funny, vivacious, full of energy, easy to make friends with, kind but pushed over too easily (ie open immigration, Sweden's rise in violent crime due to immigrants). Finns: patriotic, prefer to defend their borders, quiet (unless drunk), reserved (unless drunk), takes time for them to even start a conversation with you, takes time to become their friend, brutally honest which I love. Either way, I like Finland and Sweden.
we aren't homophobic at all, we think its completely fine that swedes are gay :)
Agreed!
Xd same opinion :DD

The reason Finns are kinda quiet is that they think it's polite to let the other person finish their sentence before talking themselves.
Isn't that the norm in every civilized European country?
Kosta M. No its not, thats not true even in Finland.
Ketunloikka I think something like that should just be common sense.
Best comment I've read!
Kosta M. That's true but it's emphasized more in the Finnish culture

Finns seems to believe that all Swedes in Finland are Bättre Svendktalande Folk and deserves to be beaten up because of their privillges, like living in a mansion with Finnish speaking servants and being entitled to free scholarsshios for everything and so on.

the thing with "all swedes are gays" is mostly just a national joke between us finns, i remember when during high school we went to stocholm with my class and one of our mates was drunk, he started saying "all swedes are gays" and stuff like that (not in public thank god), normally we would just ignore him or hell even join him! but since we were visiting sweden and were gests in the country, we asked him to stop it, it wasnt funny anymore, just rude at this point even tho there werent any swedes near us hearing our conversation (in finnish....)
Hell we dont even use the word gay as an insult anymore, hasnt been used for years, mostly kids who have just learned name calling do that.....
it is not a joke

You also know that the Finnish civil war was one of the deadliest civil wars in the history of Europe, in proportion to the population?
Nevertheless, compared to the other nordic countries we do have quite a dark recent history. I wasn't talking about Russia here.
You do you, brother!
I heard from a german dude that we Finns sound like we're always drunk. Quite ironic kjeh kjeh
Finnish men might be "macho", but at the same time we are "honestly loving" and family oriented. Also we are friendly towards those who deserve it.
Also, Fennoswedes think it's pathetic that Swedes no longer speak proper Swedish. Our Swedish is way better and more correct than yours.
Canada and the USA love Finland and Finnish people. And have the utmost respect for them! Love you Finland! ☺💖

Maybe Swedes think that, but I'm a native speaker of a language that's considered to be pretty harsh, so maybe my ears aren't so sensitive. xD
+Solar Wind I don't think it's because of the amount of consonants (like with German), i believe it could possibly be the tonation of the language :)
Solar Wind Finnish actually is the most beatiful language in the world if you understand it very well.
Our dearest eastern neighbour!
"Sweden will fight to the last Finn".

Thank you for mentioning us Swedish speaking Finns! It's nice to see that we aren't forgotten 😂
Nah I think it's actually about the language and the accent. Swedish just sounds really feminine the way it's pronounced.

I meant it in a joking way.
And since I'm finnish, I don't talk to strangers anyway.

i don't really care what people think about sweden, but it really hurts when people just don't accept people who like the same gender as themselves. most sweds accept things like that, we are really openminded and we express our feelings. i guess to some people expressing your feelings is gay, being a guy and hug another guy seems kind of gay to some? but we just really like to show affektion to everybody. who cares? we do our thing and you do yours.
But Swedish is one of TWO official languages in Finland because we use to be a part of Sweden...
You're just arguing semantics right now.

Wow, Americans think Swedes are quiet. We must be really obnoxious.
Why are all these 10 year old Finnish people here getting offended and trying to defend Finland? It’s hilarious.

Jeg elsker Sverige og Finland ❤️
Random fact most people actually know: Finland is a bilingual country, with 2 languages. Finnish and Swedish
This gave me a smile, and I think you spoke very well. Finland & Sweden, brothers :)
For example Finnish politicians have generally not minded what for example French politicians want or say, but when Swedish politicians do something, Finnish politicians usually do the same thing, and they use phrases like "it works in Sweden, so..."
Also most of the "cool" and "hip" new things come into Finland through Sweden, like fashion booms or music/art styles.
I was born in Finland and lived 6years in sweden
Being homophobic is only meme in Finland nothing else😁😂
Dude you are so classy and well mannered even depicting brother rivalries.. nice work ;)
Thanks for being so nice to us.
Its all swedens fault😞
No we portray Swedish men as gay, it's a running joke here and not meant as an serious insult at all, it's basically primary school level joking. My two gay former roommates make those jokes all the time, that's how not seriously they're meant, Swedes seem to be the ones that think it's a serious insult (I've never seen being called gay as an insult as I see absolutely nothing wrong with being gay) so maybe it says more about the Swedes that take it seriously than the Finns that tell those jokes 😜
Also the hatred some exhibit might also have something (maybe just a little more than the forced Swedish classes) to do with the bad treatment under Swedish rule where Finnish wasn't even a recognised language at all, Swedes establishing a Swedish elite in the country that to this day holds a ridiculous amount of power and wealth compared to their population (which actually is why we still have those mandatory Swedish classes) some of who to this day don't basically speak any Finnish and only socialize with other Finland-Swenska people keeping the power and wealth tightly within that small elitist minority, our men of age being forced to serve in the Swedish army and die in wars we had absolutely no say in...
and like with all Sweden's neighboring countries standing by during WW2 while ALL your neighbors were fighting for their lives and Swedes actually selling the ones they were fighting against (both the Nazis and the Soviets) raw materials INSTRUMENTAL for keeping their war machines going, this was especially true in the case of Nazi Germany and Norway actually got invaded specifically to protect the extremely crucial metal shipments from Sweden to Germany...
Hating people who are so polite would make us feel like assholes :D
More seriously though.
"Hating people who are so polite would make us feel like assholes :D " that's a reality in most Finnish cases!
and here i am, finn and gay :'D
I'm a Finn. I have visited all European countries having a coast line (by profession) and some others on this planet.
Coming to Sweden is like coming home. Instant connection with people.
What I have learned, you people just love us. And I can say, that we actually honestly just love you.
(Except icehockey which = war)
Very nice and polite video. I really enjoyed it :)

You dont have to write a fucking bible
@@framling4692 True. And you don't have to read it ;) Peace.
it's funny that finns (us) hate the swedes while they aprreciate us lol
Is there such thing as "Swedish Nationalism"
Definitely
The Finnish school system teaches us, Finnish(duh), Swedish and English.
You mean it includes compulsory lessons of Finnish and English. And makes pupils and students waste time, energy and drive in the message of post-colonialism with Swedish.
Yeah but also french and spanish
I live in Finland but I speak Swedish and I hate learning Finnish
Sweden and Finland had issues and decided, lets play a hockey game! What happened next? 6-1.
*Said the blond and blue eyed girl who's helping out at the local, annual Vikings market this weekend x'D
But really we're more diverse than that^^ hope you'll visit one day and experience this beautiful (I'm not bias at all) country for yourself :D
My Nilebo ah well hopefully next year i can go to Sweden it would make me so happy to see the land of my ancestors even though my name is english xD
Big cities and large urban centers are mostly affected by large immigrant and muslim minorities(in some regions majorities) but smaller cities and countryside are Swedish.
300 years of swedish rule... and now the king of sweden is in my prisma commercials. feels höpö mään

Finland har ju hört till Sverige ca 650 år. Då pratade man svenska i Finland.
