The voice actors for Alice & Rob are so fucking excellent.

Robs VA is absolutely goated, I've never heard a fictional character portrayed so realistically. they must of spent most of the budget on him and Tessa then got some bums off the street for Eve and Lillith cause goddamn were their scenes painful

They rewrote the silent city scene badly. The people in that city don’t make any sound at all, even as they break a million windows. They can not make sounds. That is why they want the sound. Don’t be afraid to narrate what’s happening, Alice has a log for a reason.

Yeah they don't narrate a lot of things that are pretty important sadly, like Alic's severe struggle to reach bluejay's car, the way eve and apollo died is mostly audio with no description of what is actually happening

So I'm glad this series got enough attention to get a podcast and soon a show...but can we all talk about how confusing a lot of it is without the original narration? Most of the action parts are just vehicle and crashing glass noises with NO context. How did someone think this was a good idea?

I listened to the original podcast up till the tow truck crash then switched to this series. The tow truck bit made no sense in this one had I not listened to the other video I would be lost and now every action scene since I barely know whats happened. The entire sequence in the forest I still don't know what happened. Gonna go back to the original after I think.

Well, the TV show will probably fix that

    • @Fractorification

Yeah, they tried to get around it a couple of times by having some of the characters describe what they were seeing, but that can only do so much. Not only that, but some of the narration gave the characters far more depth making their deaths all the more bittersweet.
My guess? Well, apart from adapting it to a podcast, perhaps getting these actors to play the parts was expensive enough, so it might’ve inflated the budget to have Tessa narrate the whole thing. And I guess every actor needed equal screen time.

The city scene freaks me out, because I've been to this city a few times in my dreams... And all of those dreams occurred before this story existed.

There _really_ needs to be more thorough narration provided, especially for Episodes 8 & 9. People who have never read the story before weren't even given the detail that the residents of the silent city are eerily gawking from high-rise buildings as the Jeep drives by and, lured by the sound, the residents throw themselves through their own windows, falling multiple stories like human raindrops, just to pick up their battered bodies on the road to chase after the Jeep. The actual description of the scene right before the chase is creepier than the podcast lets on.

I'm still confused by the intro / side storylines....it wasn't part of the 'original' version I heard on DarkSomnium. I take it the guy is some survivor from one of the trips (?)

It's the guy who got her audio logs. After Alice disappeared he's trying to put everything together only to realize that no one seems to even remember her anymore. I think it's an interesting addition to the rest of the story and fits it very well.

    Spoiler:
they had all the time in the world. They could have rigged a ton of small explosives and/or other noise makers in a long path away from them, then got out and pushed the car. Rob dying only serves to turn the city from a days' trip into a few minutes' trip for Alice.
