If you are able to create a VM then network is present. Just go to console.cloud.google.com/networking/networks/list to verify whether the VPC is present. In the Compute Engine screen you will see a drop down named "Columns" click and select "Network" to get this column

I have an idea as this was happening to me, i went through other videos before I came to this one, and i had your problem, most likely because I already installed what everyone else told me to, i just made a simple vm as easy as he just did from scratch and it worked perfectly, so delete the one you already made and just make a new one
Try to change the speed in the remote desktop app. I changed that to LAN and it worked pretty smooth. Edit: U can find that by pressing Show Options and then Experience Tab.

@@boriszyrianov6121 RDP port 3389 (firewall) is opened in Default VPC. If you have a windows VM which is using Default VPC then RDP will work automatically.

Different Project means different VPC networks hence ping will not work. For it to work use VPC Peering but make sure IPs conflict is not there b/w these two network

Thanks for the video. For some reasons RCP works only with ubuntu-desktop. Xubuntu makes the session end in RDP as we enter password.

delete your vm make a new one you messed it up with everyone elses videos, i did it too, but i made a new one and it worked

Remote View uses Xfce which is a lightweight Desktop environment. Normal one will be usually Gnome

I had also the same issue. Try this command
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
Guess Ubuntu desktop is not installed. Now it is working for me.
