I started off watching every couple months when a video popped up to watching every day within hours of posting. SWU has a chokehold on me, nothing else like it on YT. The perspective I get from stories like Emilio's has really made me a better person

Same here. I watch every morning. Even have about 10 good friends now I talk to every morning in the comments. This is an awesome channel and nobody’s consistent dropping videos every morning at the same time as SWU.

A good point I don’t know if I should say fortunately or unfortunately I have a fairly intimate knowledge of these type of things I was an addict for quite some time luckily not during this most recent decade which is pretty awful but either way I wanted to say I hope Emilio gets clean man very sad because I can see that he has a kind soul and he’s not dumb at all just never really had a good role model or been shown the way it’s almost amazing he still here considering everything he’s been through I hope he gets claim which he’s already on Suboxone so he’s taking the right steps and I hope he returns to Puerto Rico and can be a good father and role model to his children

Your initial words really caught me. I'm 30 now, and I'm a very loving caring person. I was shown entirely to much love and compassion by my mom as a child. I had free reign of anything I wanted to do. We were poor, but my mom made me feel like I was perfect in anything I did. I'm gonna be a father and its weighed on me thinking about how I will be with my child. Because, I've reflected on my past. And i gotta say getting to much love has had it's own ripple effects on adult life. I never feel like I'm good enough, I always feel like if things aren't perfect in my relationships then I must be the problem. Me and Emilio are at both complete ends of scale but in the end, have probably struggled equally. I wish Emilio the best, hes an amazingly strong man I bet. I will love my child, but also have to check my self in being stern and letting them stand on they're own two feet. I know I have a big heart, but it's not always a good thing. Because sadness and pain can be quite overwhelming at times. Peace love and strength to all

So much pain written into every scar, every awkward gesture, every deflected question and every heartbreaking memory. As strong as fentanyl is, it may as well be water: ultimately you develop a tolerance for opiates and opioids that bring you to your knees in a worse hell than you were beforehand. Reality is a cold place when you're alone with your demons.

Incredible story again Mark, thank you for sharing this, and Emilio: I pray that you tear down the hurdles in your mind and know that you can do ANYTHING if you put your mind to it. I too was once a struggling heroin addict and decided one day that I had had enough, it took a few years but I overcame it… addiction is giving up everything for one thing, recovery is giving up one thing for everything… god speed and good luck Emilio, I know you can do it!

Dr. Gabor Mate says, "there's only one story in your life that explains everything...I had needs, they weren't met, and as a result I suffered"
1 and half minutes in when he says "I never heard my mom and dad tell me they love me" my heart literally hurt for him.
Just that one thing is all we need to know about him to explain everything he says after and the reason he's sitting in front of Marks camera.
I also instantly thought of my boys and my granddaughter and can't imagine a single time I see them and not saying I love you..or the 1 million ways I show I show I love them. I also thought of my parents and grandparents and brother and life long friends and I know how incredibly blessed I am to have so much love in my life.

The world is so full of broken people. It's devastating. No wonder society is such a mess. We need to learn to love more. Accept more. Care more. This channel is a great start. It starts with understanding. My heart goes out to Emilio.

I love him. Foster care sucks. Neglect and society teaching all the backwards things sucks. Can’t wait till the people rise up more. Would love to hear Emilio open up more on his childhood….When he’s ready.

I think at the end when he said he was having trouble explaining,
He was trying to say that, the people who remain loyal to you when you are at such a low point in life, are very important, should not be taken for granted, and should be shown that same loyalty
