@@ragingpanty no, you have to go through an entirely different process called rigging, and adding weight paint and adding bones... another process that could easily take 20+hrs... lots of work to make a still model move in VR D:
@@mowsei Actually, if you want nice animations you want to take it a step past just rigging and weight painting, though that is huge and if that is wrong the rest of the animations will also fall apart. You will also want to set up shape keys and shape key blending for animations if you want something to really animate smoothly, and depending on the fidelity you want and the deformations you may want to also retopo certain areas like eyes, ears, and joints unless the model was specifically made with that in mind like in this video. A great example is the knees in this video. if you pay attention to the edge flow of the topology you will notice that it uses a double loop patch to give the correct deformations during animation. That topology specifically makes weighting simple meshes far easier. There are other patches for elbows and THICC body parts too to add volume. Edge flow can actually have a pretty large effect on the animation and the flow in this mesh is masterful. The only thing I might edit is the elbow joint as they simply used a double loop again which I think works better for knees. I really like the pixar elbow joint topology with subsurf. It looks like it shouldn't work, but the effect when animating is actually really slick. And then all the bones have to be properly named and constrained for the program you are feeding the mesh to.
