the shield isnt for me, its for my dumbass pawns who continue standing under the drake while its doing the bodyslam
xD TRUE
Mystic spearhand Magic shield? I put that on my pawns every chance i get because yes they don’t care about their lives.
OmG yes they’re so careless, I have a set up just dedicated for pawn support
Yes.. me too.. it is for my pawns, I don't need it..🙄🙄
Dont need pawns with spearhand, just overkill
Mystic Knight will be missed. But when Spearhand is dragooning harder than even FFXIV dragoon, it's a worthy sacrifice...
Exactly, I was a mystic knight main. But now mystic spearhand is my absolute favorite
They are two different hybrids comparing them is incorrect. Mk was heavy armored sword board and basically a tank paladin with holy enhants. This ms is a light armored monster hunter port obviously more “fun” and agile but removing MK was a big mistake.
Yeah I was sad the MK was gone. Although this isn't the reason, I think I like DD1 better. I am having fun in DD2 tho
But, but, mystic knight parries :(
@@adamdavidsoddities8573 I felt the same way for a while. But the more I’ve played dragons dogma to the more and more it’s grown on me. It genuinely does feel like an evolution of the first game to me. Which is what they were going for
The shield is a godsend for escort quests. Those NPCs all seem to think they are the protagonist or something.
Just pick them up and use a stone to teleport with them
@@razgriz2276 Some escort missions take you in front of town, in the middle of nowhere, or inside a building, so teleporting might be useless. Also, unless you're in the endgame, why would you waste resources on escort requests that don't even appear on your quest log? Just trek with them and beat monsters on your way there.
@@urielgloire I really don't find the stones had to come by, I buy 1 from every town as I pass through each day, and the one's you get from quests and randomly found. Wasn't a big deal, between carts, Portal crystals and stones fast travel is pretty consistent
@@razgriz2276 The ferrystones, we can all deal with them - I travel with 2 to 5 on me and keep 15 to 20 in storage, but the portcrystals are limited. Also, you cannot use a ferrystone or place a portcrystal everywhere. The game may have a hard limit on the number of portcrystal you can acquire by playthrough or save file, but you cannot always have a portcrystal at the exact location for a random escort quest. And why miss some of the best parts of the game by skipping exploration?
Shield is godsend for everything
You just opened my eye for Mystic Spearhead! So many people just say "hehe shield go brrr" but this is way more stylish
Ever arisen I see with mystic spear hand they always have the shield this looks dope gonna have to try this vocation sometime
Oh damn, didn't realize you could cancel Skiedragoun's Feste with bolt. That makes mystic spearhand even better at traversal.
Tbh sorcerer or cleric is the number one because it just makes it so easy this is a second but you take greater fall damage if you mess up
The maxed charge bolt can make drakes and griffins fall from the skye while flying. So its massive when drake wants to camp in skye
Had no clue bro ty
Thanks for the tip bro
"Foin" is an archaic Old French word for "stab". Just so people know.
I wasn’t ready for “berry delight” lmao
Cool video, makes me want to play this vocation
I'm glad it did had that effect 😁
It got a snort from me. Good name.
Fun note, if you rearm with warfarer i can bypass the airial bolt use cap.
Dragoon jump, bolt, dash, rearm mage levitate up, rearm back to mystic, dash, bolt, repeat
(Edit) This takes a lot of timing and practice but ya, TRUE FLIGHT
I tested switching to mage to float after Quick Fot or Foin though. You can't take the float action after switching mid air.
I was looking for this kind of detailed breakdown on DD2 combat for action game nerds like me, this is perfect!
I’ve been playing Spearhand lately and it strikes me as a high skill ceiling vocation, fairly simple to do well with but there’s
also a lot of optional stuff you can juggle during combat that’s there if you want it.
i didn't know about the dash cancel i was already falling in love now this is easily my favorite class! something about it being so flashy is so damn satisfying
I thought something was up when I suddenly found my character up in the sky chasing harpies.
All the mystic spearhend's skills are written in Middle English, that's why some of the words look weird but familiar
Cool why is called Middle English? Cause it’s in between English and something else? Lol
@@EARTHSOUL_Asm yes! it represents how the English language that was being spoken at a certain time period. English has evolved a lot throughout the years. I'll give you some rough dates. Old English was being spoken in England from around the year 450 until the year 1100. Middle English changed a lot and was being spoken from around 1100 until the year 1500. Then early modern English comes in, which is the time period in which William Shakespeare was alive and that takes place roughly from 1500 until the late 1600s and after that it's all modern english, which is what we speak now.
I believe the mystic spear hand skills were written in Middle English because Sigurd, the NPC that developed and gives you that vocation, is meant to be an old arisen, and having the skills be written in an older form of English would imply that he's been around for hundreds of years. He was also given an old Nordic name which would have been more common in England after the Viking invasions. Sigurd is also the name of a very important and popular hero in Norse mythology so I think it was a nice touch to name him that.
If you or anyone else reading this find the topic of the English language interesting and you like listening to podcasts then I recommend you check out the History of English podcast. It goes through the whole evolution.
@@GrimAhren wow this was actually a really good read. thanks for taking the time and explaining it makes perfect sense!
@@EARTHSOUL_Asm no problem I was using voice recognition to type my message because I'm visually impaired, and I didn't notice a bunch of mistakes it made so I went ahead and fixed them now.
@@GrimAhren lol I actually knew that it was typed via voice recognition I too am visual impaired! We were destined to comment to each other
Great video. High quality that I was not expecting. The timestamps and video chapters are excellent. Subscribed. Have a great day.
Thank you 😊
Wow this is insane skill ! Great job man! I have to learn this, Thank you :)
awesome video! I really liked mystic spearhand at first glance but couldn't quite figure out how to play it effectively.
The cool thing about this is if you're playing Warfarer, at the end of the sequence you can switch to thief and do the skullsplitter
The maister skill is also super fun for staggering enemies and blendering their health
Ok my time has come to finally......use.....no no............RULE THIS VOCATION 🎉🎉🎉 MAJOR SHOUT OUT TO YOU BRAH ❤
Great Vid. One more thing about charged bolts cancel ,you can also use it to cancel light and spinning attacks animation, which means if you're spinning or light attacking you can cancel yourself out of it incase you need to dodge something, really nice since the spinning attack always ends with a wind down/slam attack, which you can't cancel.
I also like to use the speregunne, good to tackle down big flying enemies or ogres hanging on walls. Seems to be that the dash and speregunne have some knockdown modifier, someitimes I can speargunne into dash for a bigh enemy topple/knockdown. real fun.
To mount monsters that are flying very high like drakes you can Feste->cancel->quickfot/dash->Feste again->Cancel again->quickfot. If you time it right you can do 2 cancels of feste middair, though usually 1 cancel is enough to mount anything, 2nd feste should land you ontop of the enemy then
Another thing I like to do is jump before doing feste to get some extra height, if I don't need the counter/s ofcourse.
I started as thief and really liked its mobility and feared switching to spearhand would feel boring, after 100 hours playing it, I have to say that it has even more mobility, though dmg is lacking a bit.
This is actually super informative thanks dude
Glad it was helpful 🙂
That pop pop made me laugh my ass off lol, i knew there was a way to do that combo, i was timing it wrong.
Pop the shield while near your pawns and watch just how much work a well spec'd Sorcerer pawns can put in when free from interrupts. I also have a mage with their version of the damage null spell.
This was awesome!! Ill 100% try this out
Thanks on the advice on the pop sound effect. I was struggling with the timing for so long.
My current loadout is the 2 youve mentioned, then shield and the maister skill.
The reason i run the shield is mostly so I can run the maister skill or the sperregone skill without being staggered, as both leave you very vulnerable and offer great sources of magick damage.
Glad I was able to help! Yea don't worry about the shield bit, play how you like. Just a jape for entertainment purposes 😆
I knew pretty much everything already except the fest bolt cancel. That's really cool.
You give me so much motivation. Subscribed!
Heya, like your vids too 💪
I like how berry delight fits thematically with how sigurd can't spell to save his life. Well played.
Yeah i love mystic spearhand lol, it's such a freaking cool skill
The second level charge duration is so long that you almost can charge another second level charge after it.
Man this guide is awesomeee
Nice video! Gotta love that DMC dna
I just switched to MS at level 75 today after running wayfarer since level 12 before switch my vocation was rank 6 already from wayfarer, so this video was a good tip for switching over
great vid dude hope you get more subs
thanks!
Good vid, well explained with humour! You deserve more subscribers.
Glad you enjoyed!
This is my favorite class, alls you need is the tap Square button when you windmill the douspears, it MELTS everything..
really dope discovery
Bro fukn right!! I kelt trying to pull off the warp after a scatter shock but i thought i pulled it off but i thought i was tripping. Thank you for this! & i also call it the Jedi😎🤓
Great video!!!!
Thanks!!
Oh, boy, meanwhile me spamming light and strong attacks with shield up... Haha, the charging while comboing opens up to many things, Thanks! Didn't knew this vocation had so much skill expression.
No worries, you should play how you like :D
NGL I thought it was possible to use Spearhand like this but have been unable to do so myself, mostly a skill issue I think, but goddamn seeing someone else pull it off is still sick as hell. I'm not super good at timing my cancels right, but now that I've seen how its done maybe I can pull it off myself.
good luck! if you can't get the Scattering Fot, it's ok. That's hard for me too, can't get it 100% consistent. But do try to get Feste bolt cancel cause it lets you get to higher places if you use Foin after :)
i believe the second charge for bolt stuns bosses for longer 😘
Delightful. Will be looking at what else you've made after I get payback on a rock lizard that rolly polly smacked me off a cliff to my death.
Nice respect
I fucking love the song "berry delight".
IG mains will be thrilled
I had no idea what the hell Berry delight was til I saw vergil's chair picture, haha
Dragoon and Insect glaive mains RISE
"Pew pew Megaman projectile" Now im in love
who needs sigurd when we have you
ty for guide. If u can mention the abilities' stamina costs, it would be easier to choose for us
Generally you can go ham on small groups of enemies with just 1 full stamina bar. You'll need to manage for large enemies.
Still don’t understand how you reach in the air at the start of the sequence because i have tried to learn something to this couldn’t understand the damn skills. I forever deems the spearhand to be slow and slow in movements but this move takes it a hold new level my friend
Aint going to lie spearhand class is definitely dubbed the dragon killer
It is Sigurd himself said that the fighting style was made for the sole purpose of killing dragons
Now time to try Warfarer with this kit + Thief's Skull Splitter 😈
berry delight is incredible
This is the most Vergil vocation to ever Virgil
Careful when using the magic balls in the middle of combos, I've had it stop working on me mid fight and kinda messed up my flow. Had to restart my console in order for it work again 😭
Even if you could do multiple casts of going you still need targets to get the blast rest
Lol mirror shields is so damn good makes pawns safe from their own bad ai
I didn't use the shield that much until endgame. I won't spoil for those who haven't got there yet, but I feel like now I can't even switch to a different vocation because I need this shield so much so I'm stuck with Spearhand and Warfarer until NG+.
mirror shield is really really good to protect your whole team though. even allows you to make more odd pawn teams that dont require as much healing.
Only need my main pawn… idk how u guys can play this game with full party lol they kill everything.. I want all the kills. Just really needs a mage for buffs
Virgil's smile in the thumbnail is sooooo CURSED 😂
So since you’re obviously the spellblade maester might I trouble you with a query? What upgrade should we be using for the spears? Which style
Nah I'm not a master, just a dude doing unnecessarily elaborate moves for fun haha. I would suggest just going for dwarven since knockdown gives you room to do things.
@@jesterscreamtherapy idk dude that’s the best guide I’ve seen so thank you duarven it is
POP POP!
Yeah, this vocation has a high skill ceiling, which is good.
I think my spearhand is bugged. I have everything unlocked, but I can't do the teleport, I can't stun multiple targets and I can't do the twirly spear move no matter how many times I hit the button
Dope movements, but do you know how to unlock the ultimate skill for the mistic spear hand?
There's a hidden dragon lair somewhere. Sigurd will give it to you after the fight
Can you provide your full button mapping layout?
Is there an augment/ring/gear that allows you to charge foin faster?
Not that I know of
It's actually called Cielos' Dynasty but it's OK, alot of white arisens can't pronounce it
Maester I return with more inquiries can you show us your setup height and weight and also augments I’ve been practicing this like crazy I’m ass but starting to get it but I feel like I’m always running out of stam mid way trough the combos
The augments I use are
Zeal: Warfarer
Voracity: Magick Archer
Endurance: Archer
Exaltation: Mage
then 2 optional ones. I should have probably mentioned you shouldn't combo every single enemy, adapt to the situation like using light attacks or exiting the area of combat to recharge stamina. also don't always charge bolt, it prevents you from recharging stamina.
@@jesterscreamtherapy gotcha thanks yea I just been practicing on everything and that’s probably why I run out holding the charge back to back good to know thanks how small is your character I think that helps the regen
@@leocreuu3254 they're at 170cm I think. Hope you find your groove 😀
You run mirror vesture for self protection.
I run mirror vesture so I can run three melee damage pawns with no healer.
Would the same thing be accomplished by having a mage with high palladium? Surely.
But I can just spam vesture
Imagine having to face this if it were PVP. Then again I'm a thief...formless feint XD
Yea the only class that would stand a chance is thief
finally a fuckin gamer
Broke: MS is the Virgil vocation
WOKE: MS is the Noctis Lucis Caelum vocation
Looks cool as fuck....but I have to disagree with the Shield. It makes me feel like the greatest guardsmen in the world using that dash to get to them and protect them as they charge up the super spells. I ran a team once with 2 sorcerers and a Frontline guard and went around eviscerated everything. I felt like a true captain on the field going where I was needed doing a little combat dashing back to my rear line in case they were getting heat, throwing a bubble on them then clearing their surroundings while they charged a spell without getting interrupted then dashed to the main battle. It's fucking orgasmic lol
I didn't know about the canceling through the charged bolt so thank you for that I will surely add that to the repertoire!!!
Awesone! Don't worry about the shield thing, play as you want. Doing the dislike bit for entertainment xD
@jesterscreamtherapy well it was hilarious 😂 plus hell, it even got me to engage lol
This feels a lot like Dissidia's gameplay! Very flashy!
Dragoon
I feel mystic knight will be a DLC vocation.
Wish my execution was better, the combos look cool but I can’t get them consistent enough to have fun with it!
You can do it!
...ok...I'm to old and slow for this game. I tried for ages to reliably use quik fot after scattering bolt and now I learn that I really need to keep charging that thing while fighting AND execute the move I failed to do. Well it does look more fun than spamming the ultimate and then stamina suck.
hey at least you get it though! :D
U don't have to pulse it, just teleport after it hits works fine, he just added the extra step for AOE cc and style
@@razgriz2276 yup, style and AOE CC, still good to practice to be consistent when fighting large groups.
I want to see how good your movement options are without enemies to get to places
Best I got so far is jump, Feste cancel, foin
But what is the point of running away with the stab after closing the gap? Bamboozle the enemy? I get it if you dodge something but othwrwise seems like a waste of time and it does n t even look cool
Bro don't get me wrong mystic spear head is cool but I was for certain this vocation wasn't for me I was literally bout to drop this vocation till I seen this video now I can't stop playing mystic spearhead
Balls!…..
Is this possible without Skiedragoun's Feste?
yup! simply jump and use quick fot. it won't be as flashy but it doesn't consume as much stamina :)
@@jesterscreamtherapy ok cool, I'm not going to lie it's kind of tough the timing is pretty tight lol
Mirour shelde is far more Powerful than you think! I have gone through multiple Big battles without a bit of damage on any of my pawns. By the time I return to town I normally still have 95% of my full hp after multiple Dragon battles and a army's worth of smaller enemies!
Oh it's definitely powerful, I personally find it boring to be immune to damage :)
mang but dont pretend u invented the 'berry delight'
I.. didn't 😅
I will use the shield and you cannot stop me
Dang it!
The sequence you show feels like its just wasting stamina for the sake of looking cool (which no hate everyone likes to look cool sometimes) and doesn't actually seem very efficient
It is the opposite of efficient. It is being overly elaborate because you can
What the f.. I didnt know you could play it like that... I have been playing the game wrong this whole time..
you can do that, it flashy no doubt or you just wildfury everything to dust while being unkillable. your call dear viewer
haha exactly my thought
You can either be a badass, or press two buttons and pat yourself on the back.
@@Zuggandtugg or use the teleport stuff if its need and not for style.
but yes it a preference. for me i never liked goalkeeper who make a step aside to do a spectacular save
@@Zuggandtugg or you can use the teleport stuff when its need and not for style.
but yes its a *preference* .
for me, i never liked goalkeeper who make a step aside just to do a unnecessary flying save. for you you can style all day and tell others "gid gud kid".
Dude, wtf, lol. You know like, we all can play Street Fighter right. Until you see professional players and you're like "no fucking way". That's how I feel about this. There's no way in hell I can pull that off, lol. I use foin and... shield 😔. Congrats on your skills bro.
Nah man, I believe players can do it with practice! 💪
No stamina succ?
Optional for your other 2 slots. I just personally don't like skills that lock you down :)
@@jesterscreamtherapyjust do it after u stun them with bolt and teleport to them, I call it giving kisses
dont listen the shield is the best ability in the class, you take no damage aslong you can maintain it, i killed multiple boss monster together with shield alone, it protects the whole party from aoe’s and is perfect when your getting stun locked in the corner and trading blows, instead of running aways when bosses stay still and charge up attacks you can then just stand there and tank it while you’re hitting him back
i suggest the spearhand or the mage have a shield, you cant outheal a one shot move
the only monster that can break the shield is the dullahan with his scream then he’ll go in with a grab when your on the ground, only move that can break the shield so far
@@mudaosama2648 it doesn’t break the shield it breaks your concentration on maintaining the shield. You literally pass out. Boom! Shield gone.
There’s a third bolt charge after like 8-10 seconds of holding down the button
Hold the f up. This seems illegal
Good for you to suggest not using that boring ass skill.
Sacrifice storm for the shield. The shield makes your entire group invincible. Your followers will significantly out damage the storm when they can't be touched.
Too much unnecessary movement but nice to look at
That's... the whole point of the video....
