Hayley was a bit of a bitch to elijah at the end of season 4 if im being honest. It was the writers fault making her seem afraid of him. Im like bitch please ur all vampires and ur freaked out coz he killed people for his family.... just stfu and have sex xD

Haley was not afraid of Elijah she was shocked that he chose that part of his mind to hide ..at first she thought she would find him in their memory together and then she found that the one place he chose to hide safely was behind the red door ..where he is a monster and a place he is supposed to be ashamed of.
So this is it ..I don't find her reaction odd in any prespective i think it's very normal.
