You can talk, talk, talk all you want about Julia Child. All I will say about her is that she and her work got me through about 6 years of the most difficult time in my life. Hard to top that.
@@eqlzr2 .....my fav episode of theirs involved making hamburgers. There's nothing like witnessing a Frenchman thoroughly enjoying the flavors of an American sandwich.
@@msr1116 Hey, I sure remember that episode. "Now that's REEEEAAAALLL American fare!" Julia exclaims. Also, another one that sticks in my mind is the one where Jacques Pepin slices his finger dicing an onion. Next scene, he has a bandaid on that finger. He was always using that little teeny paring knife to dice onions. lol
I’m surprised no one on the historian’s team corrected her slides and presentation - the movie title is JULIE AND JULIA not Julia and Julia. As for recipe research, I still go to Julia’s books and videos (and Jacques Pépin) for THE version of whatever French recipe I’m making. I have memories of watching WGBH every afternoon and Julia being in the mix with Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers. How she got a five year old obsessed with mushroom duxelles I still can’t tell you but I give her credit equal to my grandparents for creating the food writer I became. ♥️
Noontime soap operas such as "Valiant Lady" and "Search for Tomorrow" were favorites. As I recall they were 15 minutes long, so I could fit them in at lunch time and get back to school in time. I'm trying to remember the one at 12:30 PM which, if I watched, I'd more than likely be late for school. After school, it was "American Bandstand" time. Homework? After dinner (if I actually got to it). When did "Queen for a Day" come in? I hope to get to watch "Siting Julia: A Julia Child Centenary Symposium" later today. I'm still enjoying Sunday breakfast and my morning tea.
Julia did not have a Chablis at La Couronne, but a Pouilly Fumé from the Loire; goes great with oysters and a great balance to the rich butter of the Sole Meunière. Paul knew what he was doing!
i find that Kaplan insist a lot about the communist they were the first (résistants) and communist and De Gaule were hand in the hand love for American was big i'm deceived by her discours

eqlzr2 I hope the difficult times are over and that things are looking much better for you.
@@lilyarnaout7369 Thanks to digital media, Julia is still around for a therapy session whenever required. ;-)
@Leah Surette Long live ZZZZhhhoooolia as Jacques Pepin called her. ;-)

I understand. I remember being obsessed with Donahue as an elementary school student 😄

She was 1 of a kind..we love her and shall always respect her. Do not even try to dishonor her.

These three Harvard panel videos are all wonderful! As is Julia's and Alex' book, My Life In France.
I wish I could’ve met her. Just charming.
Amazing.
What lovely stories.
Our home in Williamstown was across the road from brother Johns home. Very nice neighbors.
Beautiful julia!!!
21:31 “…where she doesn't quite fill her French bed.”
Seems like Mrs Child fills her French bed and then some.
She looks like her
