  • After all the floods over this past winter and spring we wanted to go into one of our favorite creeks that we felt had been “hunted out” a couple years ago. We wanted to see if some of the old sand bars had been moved around or washed away exposing any old gravel bars. We were hopeful but not really optimistic. We couldn’t have been more wrong! We had a record breaking “three person” day! This day will be remembered as long as we live. We hope you will watch and let us know what you think in the comments. What has been your best day? As for us we may never do this again!

      Heartbreaker Relics I’ve found one in a year and a half lol! I started hunting creeks without much luck. But to me it’s the most peaceful way to hunt. I don’t sift because the creeks here just doesn’t fit that method. Mainly just small creeks with small rock. I did find my first one in a while the other day a nice Adena Dickson point made from heated kaolin. It was about time for me. Killer videos too man!!!

    I don't know who it was several years ago said most of the Indian artifacts had already been found. They obviously didn't have a clue because you guys and others on utube, folks at the shows, not to mention people who never post or show any of their finds, keep finding tons of them and some are the most beautiful points there are. Personally I believe we'll never find them all and really have only scratched the surface.

      Chalcedony is made of the same material a agate is. It just doesn’t have any banding in it. It will glow when a light source go through it and often looks like it’s been melted, or will have “grape” bumps on it.

    This was the best 30 minutes I’ve spent in a while. Thanks for another great video. I’ve got about another month post heart surgery before I can hit the creeks again. My wife might say I have another 2 months or more.

      Thank you so much. We love sharing our outings with everyone and comments like yours make it so worthwhile. Take care of yourself and listen to your wife. When it comes to hunting arrowheads and our health they are usually more level headed than we are. When you're able to get back out there we wish you the best of luck.

    Alright I gotta know two things are you boys from and in Mississippi? Also, how do you go about picking your fields and creeks you hunt ? I'm from Mississippi and I know our state is rich with Indian culture and prehistoric finds...

    • @HeartbreakerRelics
      @HeartbreakerRelics  5 років тому +1

      First, thanks for watching and for the question. Yes we are from Mississippi. Actually I (Spike) grew up in Louisiana but I have been here on the coast for 35 years. Randy and Kenneth were born and raised here. As for the fields we look for anything close to water but just up out of the flood plain and level enough to live on. The creeks we prefer are hard bottom or soap stone creeks with isolated pockets of gravel. Anything with a lot of gravel is just to much to sift. Hope this helps and good luck.

      @@HeartbreakerRelics thank you it definitely does help I've wanted to do this and only know of one creek that has produced alot of Indian artifacts that is in the brookhaven area. I wasnt sure if yall researched possible Indian living areas or what but things like Ditchwalker finds like the ammonites that is truly rare stuff. I've seen a mammoth tusk at the army Corp of engineers in vicksburg that was found north of vicksburg.

      @@Truff2687 There was a mammoth tusk found very recently in Yazoo county too. When looking for artifacts we know there were people living around here up to 10,000 years ago or longer. Taking that into consideration we can assume at one time or another they lived along almost every stream in the country. So the odds are pretty good that the points are there. Its just figuring out how to find them.

    WOW! Inspiring! Do you suppose the "catches" work because the artifacts are denser than the common rock? Any insight on the catches?

    • @HeartbreakerRelics
      @HeartbreakerRelics  5 років тому +1

      Thanks and thanks for the great question. We are going to have to discuss this in a video in the future. The "catches" are simply spots where the pressure (force of the flow) in the water drops enough to allow objects of like densities to drop out of the water column. That's why you'll have sand bars and rock bars and even spots where pea gravel will settle. These spots can be caused by logs, large rocks or chunks of clay or bends in the stream.

    Yall have great videos and intros but the audio sucks. Please invest in a better microphone or new phone. It's hard to watch and listen with volume. Solid advise. 👊🏻

      Thanks. We use FujiFilm XP cameras and always have a problem after underwater shots with the mics. We realize this is a problem but our research says the GoPros have the same issue. We are looking for something better even as we speak. We apologize for the audio and thanks again for the suggestion.
