I think something they might want to add later is generic devices like PC, Video Game Console, IoT Device, etc. Someway that we can see our entire network and device layout, not just ubiquiti specific devices. Just me, I know that's a long shot, but it's not too difficult to implement this. Just add a 42U Rack to our current Rack options and then add PC (including a 4U rack unit option), Video Game Console and IoT Device images to the drag and drop Devices list. Just nice to see for the enthusiasts among us that place our PCs into our home server racks.
Thanks for the review. I'm building a multi-story home with concrete walls and floors and it would be nice to be able to specify the floor material too. I don't plan on any signal reaching down between my floors, but it might be useful for wood-framed homes. Also, being able to specify an AP being wall mounted and showing the proper heat map would be nice too.
The biggest challenge I have with UDC is the lack of ability to integrate it with the actual Network app. If they did that, it would be a game changer and would make the process of using UDC more than just for planning and documentation. One thing I am still not convinced is the algorithm they are using to compute wifi range. At least in all of the versions I have used, it does not seem very accurate, especially the 5GHz range. I will test out the new version, but I would not count on it as actual until it can be verified.
I wish we could manually change the wire connections and it labels. I trie Visio but it was too complex and expensive. I’ve also tried the Omnigraffle was easier.
Where are all the options for the UDC? When I open it i only can add devices which are already at my network. With all the other options it is just 10% what i can use. And why I cannot move the plan to my UDM SE?
Hey Cody, much better thumbnail for this video. Not sure if I’m the only one that didn’t like the goofy faces, but I believe this one looks much more professional 👍🏽
It as well depends on what floors we are talking, for example if you use radiated floors then there is almost no wifi travel through it. Best practice IMO is usually to not have them ontop of each other but it really depends all on wall/floor density etc
The design "tool" is so so far away from being usable in any real-world conditions. There are tons of necessary features which are not included. I think Unifi is headed in the right direction, albeit in an extremely slow manner. It would be nice if they actually fast-tracked this to become a usable piece of kit.
Well, I hate to counter Cody, but the Unifi Design Center, rev 1 and 2, are significantly lacking and are not intuitive. Mu Big Chief tablet is better.

3d signal calculation over various floors would be nice

Looks like the floors here are not considered when modeling coverage/interference, and are de facto independent
this is helpful for planning wifi coverage if using unifi access point, good job bro
Thanks for watching :)
Great video Cody, thanks for the review. It would be great if Ubiquiti were able to release more services and devices in Australia.

@Jason, what do you think is incorrect? Do you think the range is farther? shorter? stronger? weaker?
What about support multiple floors for the the WiFi coverage? i don't see any options to make a passthrough in the ceiling
Does the Design center support multiple floors? and does the WiFi coverage take multiple floors into consideration?
They need add and option for hole in floor or open below so we can see 2 store houses with opennings where you can see the first floor
Always informative. Thanks Cody.

Why does it only send 1 cable to the 2 output wall socket?
What's the best route to get a floor plan to upload into design center? This would be for residential
Do you ever have a problem getting floor plans, many of our customers don't have them.
Most of my customers have them. If not we can always take measurements or use the LiDAR Scanner and get a rough idea
I personally get screenshots from Google map if they don't have any

What they need is to show exact measurements / scale / ruler.
Where to enter design plan ?
I guess there is no Audio/Video in design center?
I would love to use it but 1/2 the equipment is not even available.
Still no support for 6Ghz band. :-(
Is there a best practice for addressing placing an AP on the second floor, and how that would impact signal on the first floor?
personally i would put them opposite sides and see how it goes, ad 1 in middle if needs be

Hey Cody thanks for the share. Do you any app to capture dimensions and develop blueprints to import to unify design center?
Just use the LiDAR Scanner on your iPhone and import the maps

I still can't draw my own house in this thing. Haha
Do you have a phone with LiDAR?
@@MactelecomNetworks nope they haven't added it to Oneplus yet.... Don't want to give apple money.
