    Thanks! I love this! Just wanted to share a trick I use to make really sharp corners. When I identify where I want the corner to be, I thread the wire into an eyelash curler and compress it. I find it makes for a more sturdy frame.

    When I started making jewelry a little over 5 years ago, I looked at EVERYTHING as a means to wrap and/or form my wire including a Bic lighter I had lying around! 😄 I used anything and everything I could get my hands on from pens, lipstick tubes, sharpies, TicTac containers, pill bottles, shampoo bottles, dowels, plumbing pipes/fittings, the inside part of an ink pen (for tiny jump rings), etc... you name it and I've probably used it as a mandrel or as a wire forming tool! 😄 You have some excellent tips for beginners and all I can say is that one is only limited by a lack of imagination. Btw, I think your little blue beaded Bic lighter earrings are soooo adorable. I just love them to pieces! ❤️❤️❤️ Also, anyone who happens to solder could use a thicker gauge copper or silver wire to make large oval jump rings with the Bic lighter and use the jump rings to make an alternate/oval version of a paperclip chain. Jackie Kennedy made the paperclip chain popular in the 60s and they seem to have made a strong comeback. Although I am not a beginner jewelry maker, I really enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing! 👍😊

    Hello, thank goodness there is someone else with a brain like mine. Everyone I see a UA-cam demo I always think of alternative way of achieving the same result. I have already a small collection of objects that I have saved because they have good shapes for craft. This ranges from small bottles from perfume, tiny jars that have contained jams other toiletries containers i.e. deodorant or fancy shaped pillboxes. If you decide o look for a particular shape, always start in the home it's amazing what you can find. The other idea I had if you can't find the right size or shape, make your own from air-dry clay, then you might start a new collection you can always turn to. Happy crafting, thank you for your video, Eve from England x

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  Рік тому

      Hi Melanie! My tutorials use a lot of 18g square for frames, 20g squares for add on decorative wires (sometimes smaller frames)... 22g half round for bale wraps and ties, I also weave with 28g and 26g round.
      All of my tutorials should work with either square or round wires, so if you have round wires onhand, you can also use them and sub where you see square frame wires.
      Having said that... here are the links to Riogrande.com where I buy wire... they sell in large quantity but it really is the better to best price in volume... there are shops on Etsy that sell in smaller spools too.
      The half round wire I always use is 22g half round.
      Here is the link... select the gauge, they sell spools by 1 pound.
      www.riogrande.com/product/copper-half-round-wire-1-lb.-spool-dead-soft/132506GP/?code=132541
      For square, I'd get 20g and/or 18g... maybe both? :D
      www.riogrande.com/product/copper-square-wire-dead-soft/132410GP/?code=132418
      You select the gauge, then add the spool, then select the next square gauge then add the spool to the cart, etc for each gauge you want to buy. They are all 1 pound spools.
      Rio sells all the metal, so if you want silver, gold, etc, you can also shop with them. The more you buy, the better the prices get. Have fun!
      Let me know if you have any more questions.

I use bic lighters to shape long slope earring hooks... chapsticks, and lipsticks, mascara bottle, they all work great... I hope that helps and gives you some ideas!
