  • Welcome to the World Athletics Watch Party, join the conversation on Twitter with our hashtag #WatchWorldAthletics.
In a brutal race of attrition, Joshua Cheptegei of Uganda capped a glorious year by securing the world 10,000m title to add to the world cross-country crown he secured in March.
Cheptegei, who shared the pace with Kenyan duo Rhonex Kipruto and Rodgers Kwemoi for much of the race, was rewarded by out-slugging Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha in a thrilling final lap to land the title in 26:48.37 - the second-fastest time in World Championships history.

So in afraid I dont buy what youre selling. Being short and unhealthy gaunt also has very little to do with it. The only American to run under 27 in the 10000 was 6 foot 1 and weighed 170 lbs.

Every event I've watched from these games has had her butchering everyone's names. It's almost as though she's doing it on purpose, as she's screwed up some super common names or just outright mixed up the names of two athletes. It's just painful to listen to and honestly is a bit disrespectful; at least the male commentator is obviously making an effort, even if he doesn't always get it right.

Kwenye Mt. Elgon there are kalenjins on the Uganda side too. Hence you see all the Ugandan elites are Chemtai, Cheptegai, Kiprotich, etc.
In fact these days it looks like even the USA and Bahrain found a population of Nandis somewhere 🤣🤣

Kudo to Kipruto for pushing the pace, he has a pretty smooth running stride, he just lack a bit of raw speed to be the best on the track, but he could be a MONSTER on the road. To me he has the perfect style to establish the new HM/Marathon world record.

At 25:20 or so you can see how relaxed Cheptegai's face is, so it's clear he had it covered. The man is a marvel, considering how he kicked on so brilliantly in the fragmented 2020 season. Superb running all round.
