I just celebrated 19 years clean from heroin addiction, it’s no joke. I’m so grateful & very lucky I made it out alive. I ODed & almost died, my aunt saved my life. Bon Jovi got me through my teenage years & I was so sad to hear about Stephanie (back then). It ruined my teeth & I can’t find a dentist who will help me, I have PTSD & many scars as a reminder of what heroin & opiates did to me & almost 20 years later, it still haunts me. You’re a beautiful man, Jon Bon Jovi...Thank you for sharing that story & likely saving lives❤️

BonJovi sparkle I'm so sorry for what you've been through. I was bullied as a child but not when I was older and definitely nothing to do with drugs. I couldn't believe how naïve I had been when at a 5 or 10 year reunion, classmates were talking about smoking weed and doing harder things as well while in school. I had no idea it was going on all around me. I truly hope life is going better for you now!! ***** Thank you for the encouragement. Things are going pretty well now except for spending money on stupid things, basically wasting it. He was engaged to be married in June, but his addictions changed all of that. She just couldn't take it anymore. He became suicidal and he OD'd on Xanax 3 times, the 2nd time really caught me off guard because I had told our pharmacy to never fill that for him again and I guess he heard me say something about it, and he had gone to his doctor who had prescribed it for him and filled it at a different pharmacy) He was given a months worth to take as much as 2 mg in a day. When we realized something was wrong with him, I called 911, he went out through the garage to get on his old moped, and thankfully my husband heard me holler for help, because the next thing I knew he was trying to wrestle him off the running moped. I had thrown down the phone while still on with the dispatcher, got the key turned off, and my husband finally got him tackled in the front yard, then I jumped on him, trying to keep his arms and head under control. He bit my wrist and while he never drew blood, he messed it up pretty bad. I never let go of him because I was terrified he would find a way to kill himself, all over the loss of his fiancée. Finally the police got here and as he got out of his truck, I yelled at him "Help NOW!!" and he came running over to us. As soon as our son realized he was there, he became cooperative. In the end, we had to go get him from the ER about 25 miles away but it was under one condition. He had to give me whatever Xanax he had. He brought me the bottle, and from a bottle that had been filled 48 hours earlier, 120 pills, there were 22 left. His doctor now knows to never let him have it again. So it will be nice when he can get by on his own, but there are so many things he isn't thinking about like paying all of his monthly bills once he has his own apartment. He can barely pay us $100 a month for "rent". It should be double that because he eats and drinks just about everything in the house. He knows he shouldn't be living at home at his age, being treated like a teenager with a curfew, but he had to agree to it and sign a contract we made up before he moved back with us in June. He's trying to get straightened up but it is a daily, sometimes an hourly struggle for all of us. Thanks to both of you for sharing thoughts with me. I hope you both can be safe and stay clean and sober. It's hard these days. My apologies for the book!!
I really hope that his demons can resolve themselves slowly and he gets to see the light. It won't happen overnight but one day at a time. I do not have any addictions but know many and a few who have succumb to them. Lets keep them all in our prayers. Thank you for getting back so fast and I wish you and your family the very best.
survivrs I'm not addicted. That experience made me anti-drugs. I hope your son can beat this. I also hope you and your husband will have enough strength to help him. Because as much as you want to help him hopefully you can emotionaly. Try to stay healthy and don't sink into a depression. Is there anyone YOU can talk too? Because this must be hard for you.
As a parent who found my son unconscious from "huffing" canned air-the air that you use to clean out your computer? When he was 14 or 15. I was so terrified to realize how close we came to losing him. I hate going back to that time. He's 22 now and healthy but I know it took a few years off of my life. Prayers go out to any parent who gets a phonecall like this. It can and does happen to anybody.

Not a single parent can say “This will never be my kid.” They will say it but they certainly should not. I thank God that, to date, I have not had to receive this phone call but, I’m not fool enough to think for a single second anyone is immune to this tragic situation. So glad and grateful his beautiful daughter did not lose her life and he did not have to bury his child. Bad things happen to everyone. I think he handled this with grace and eloquence. I also believe that talking about it brings awareness and awareness saves lives. Thank you sir, for sharing your family’s story.
My sister unfortunately didn't live passed 17. Back in 2000, her demons took her since a very young age. And it didn't help her out because all of us had our own problems, and hers took a turn for the worse. We all still miss her, and I always wondered how our little brother would've grown up if we still had her around. He took a turn for the better after having his son, then later a daughter. He was her shadow, everywhere she went, he would follow her.

So glad she got through it. Our family lost a 27-year-old Mother of two yesterday. We’re awaiting toxicology but the boyfriend said they had been using. 😡
Although I love Jon, he said his generation didn't have access to! B.S. I grew up and played in his 'generation' however, most of us came through alive, thank God
+Rockin Roger His generation was mostly having asses to cocaine, marijuana, alcohol and some psychedelic's drugs. Nowadays, or in last 20 years, the drugs are much harder, dire and deadly.
Ok but I mean, isn’t this something that EVERY rock star’s daughter does? Dedicating an entire episode to this would be like having me come on to discuss that time I crossed the street.
I think that the humility he shows and the fact he seems like a real nice guy comes from the fact that he so much appreciates that his daughter didn't die and that he realizes that if his daughter did die he never would of gotten over it.
ONE OF THE BEST I REALLY ENJOYED GROWING UP AN URBAN BLACK CHILD AND LOVING MUSIC OF HIS, AS FOR HIS DAUGHTER I NOW ASK FOR FAVOR FOR THE FAMILY TO CONTINUE TO BE EVER SO STRONG TOGETHER THAT NO MATTER HOW THE WORLD TURNS, THAT IN ANY GOOD OR TEMPORARY BAD AFFAIRS THAT THE BEST IS ALWAYS YOUR OUT COME YOU HELPED LIFT LOTS OF PEOPLE UP, WHY NOT WANT THE SAME FOR YOU. People who have problems with addiction are actually having problems with anxiety and depression. They are self medicating their anxiety and depression.
One of my best friend’s daughter got hooked on H, it was heartbreaking for her parents, who were awesome parents, very hands-on, devoted parents. They were affluent and their kids were well provided for in every way, it can happen to anyone.
I'm so glad she's doing great now. I hope she never goes back to those horrible fatal drugs. they are seriously fatal. My closest friend died from a heroin overdose. those doing it don't know how easily it is to OD when they think they're not ODing, one of my worse phone calls I had to take. and then 2 yrs later my dad dies from colon cancer. I couldn't take it anymore.. went thru a whirlwind downward spiral and had to be admitted in psych ward because of their deaths. but Im doing better now. Drugs affects us all, even those whose loved ones are afflicted. such an intense impact for us all. All part of life and that part just really sucks.
It is horrible when someone in your family or multiple family members have a substance use disorder. It is brutal to deal with, especially if they already have existing mental health issues. I think he may understand the impact on a family, and the struggles of the other family members. How did she get started ? Deviant peers ? I hope she is clean now....
I always get so tired of hearing people blame parents if their kids get addicted to drugs. Despite the best efforts of parents, children can go astray as peer pressure is an incredibly influential force when you are a teen .
My son has this problem. I wish I had his money to help him. To put him in a place that can help him. He has such a wonderful heart. He's such a good son. Praying very hard for his deliverance. He hates what he does.
great singer and a decent person most people I know would probably use there od against them and yet never take responsibility for there own actions man I wish I knew more people like bon jovi
I was diagnosed with Shingles about 10 years ago, when I was 30, and when they gave me Vicodin it was ALL downhill from there! I was the district manager for the company I worked, but after becoming addicted to pain pills, I lost my job, and then my vehicle and then eventually even my kids to the State. That was almost six years ago, and it literally pushed me over the edge. I quickly divorced, lost my house and was homeless on the streets of Seattle for the next three years. I slept outside all year around and held a cardboard sign for money every day to support my habit, which had evolved to heroin because it's cheaper and much easier to get than pills. However, as of today I have been clean and sober for two years and three months, with help from treatment and the last family member who's bridge I hadn't already burned. So, when he says it can happen to ANYONE, he is NOT lying. Addiction isn't a choice, it's a disease and nobody should EVER feel ashamed for it. "Honesty is the best policy," may sound cliché but only because it's true. And, if you get denied employment or relationships because of your prior struggles with addiction, those people and jobs don't deserve you!

I’m so thankful your Daughter is safe, and whole 💕Thank you God. God Bless you, and your family 🌹❤️
This guys kept his feet on the ground and kept his nose clean... Absolutely fantastic role model. Uncle Richie Dave and Tico are a granite foundation to work with. 🇬🇧
It's true - heroin is a bigger problem than people care to believe. I'm so glad she survived. What a GREAT family!
It doesn’t matter if ur rich, and famous, ur kids can have drug problems! Jon, Ur a Damn good man, and dad!!! Proud of u!!! Glad ur daughter is doing ok now!!! I Love ❤️ you!!!!!! Ur one of my favorite musicians in the world 🌎!!!!! U have a very beautiful voice and ur still gorgeous!!
I am so happy youre daughter is good. GODBLESS
Love this man and his music! Admire his dedication to family
I'm glad his daughter is doing well.
I truly respect his honesty. Always a class act.
It's a much deeper problem going on and that is people
People not connecting to eachother anymore
Lindoooo dono de um sorriso e uma voz!!!Te amo Bon Jovi❤💓
Pocas veces vemos a Jon tan serio y con un nudo en la garganta. Me duele verlo así.
It happens to the very best of people and families. So happy he acknowledges the huge problem. Just a regular Jersey guy. Thankyou Jon 🙏💜
Bon Jovi.... oh man.... LOVE FROM TRINIDAD.... I don't idolize anyone... but you see this man right here... I grew up with his music.... when I think of my teen years... this is it right here... I hope one day I MEET HIM IN PERSON.... to let him know that he is a big part of my live.... God bless you and your family
....the real man band ....,real father,he is my idol all the time..since they start in group...I love you John and band..keep writing new song...best regards from Indonesia.
He handled that question about his daughter with grace and class. Not easy discussing personal family business, I’m sure.
💔 I didn't know. Good to hear she is ok!
The worst phone call ever... Man that's deep....
He is one smart man; obviously to be as successful as he has become, and SO humble.....Just so much respect for him. If you receive a phone call from the police when your child is in college, it IS the most terrifying emotion, not knowing what they will say. Your heart falls bottomless. I feel his pain as it is still heard in his voice. God Bless you Jon Bon Jovi and your entire family.
Love him so much such a great man and father. Much respect
He'll be an amazing grandpa too, he's the man.
GOD BLESS U BON JOVI
Wow.. so touching to see him vulnerable
he's such a cutie.
Anyone else just now seeing this and realize he said “do what you can” 😏
So glad she got through it. Our family lost a 27-year-old Mother of two yesterday. We’re awaiting toxicology but the boyfriend said they had been using. 😡
🙏🏽
Jon es muy lindo y con una voz privilegiada
Although I love Jon, he said his generation didn't have access to! B.S. I grew up and played in his 'generation' however, most of us came through alive, thank God
+Rockin Roger His generation was mostly having asses to cocaine, marijuana, alcohol and some psychedelic's drugs. Nowadays, or in last 20 years, the drugs are much harder, dire and deadly.
Rockin Roger i am 43 years i do not think they was as bad as today. Thank God his daughter is ok now..prayer she can stay clean in jesus name. Amen
@@jolenecockey2200 🙏 to that 😇
heroin is more available these days than when Jon was young.
Ok but I mean, isn’t this something that EVERY rock star’s daughter does? Dedicating an entire episode to this would be like having me come on to discuss that time I crossed the street.
OH John, you are so lucky she is still here. My sister wasn't so lucky.😥😥😥😓😓😓...
THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TO SHARE HAVE A BLESSED NIGHT.
It’s terrible, God bless your daughter in her struggle.
I'm glad it's over. God bless her always. Keep her close Jon, they are our babies n need to support n guide them through even when they fall. 😘😘
Love to you and your beautiful family, Jon.
That addiction is not biased at all. Thank you Jon for acknowledging that. God be with Stephanie you and your family always
My god glad shes ok mannnn
Love all you guys
I respect this man. I admire his work ethics. I appreciate and am greatful for his talent. I loove his voice.
I ❤you Jon since i was a teenager. Te amoooo
For me, Jon is a symbol of the positive aspects of America. Such a great man.
I met Jon in 87 he was the sweetest guy!!
A reaction of a great parent...hat off..👍
He and his wife Dorothea are so awe!!! And for luck Stephanie is well and thats the most important thing!😍
That's god's way of showing her how lucky she really is.
Still handsome talented good father mother glad she's ok thank god
I wish only the best for his family..recovery and Reformation for his daughter.God bless his family
Im so sorry i hope everything is going ok.
GOD BLESS ALL FAMILIES GOING THROUGH THIS , STRENGTH COURAGE HEALING TO ALL💕🌺
It is horrible when someone in your family or multiple family members have a substance use disorder. It is brutal to deal with, especially if they already have existing mental health issues. I think he may understand the impact on a family, and the struggles of the other family members. How did she get started ? Deviant peers ? I hope she is clean now....
just respect him and love his music.
My son did it. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Support, support is the answer
Jon eres hermoso y cantas divino
Damned. The worst nightmare of any parent.
I always get so tired of hearing people blame parents if their kids get addicted to drugs. Despite the best efforts of parents, children can go astray as peer pressure is an incredibly influential force when you are a teen .
In love you Jon you are my favourite band
Come HeLL Or High water, a Good Parent Would Do ANYTHING For their Kid, Am I Right?? May God Bless him&his Family. Love ya man.
Even if you hate him you can do anything but respect him
admire him his values and family wow !
I'm glad she's okay.
My son has this problem. I wish I had his money to help him. To put him in a place that can help him. He has such a wonderful heart. He's such a good son. Praying very hard for his deliverance. He hates what he does.
Laura Boschen 🙏🏽
tears in his eyes
My love Jon Bon Jovi 😍😍😍
My friend's daughter overdosed. She survived. He was off work for weeks due to the trauma. We can't police our kids.
Keep her close. Wish drugs didn't exist 😪 prayers 🙏 😔
I pray for her
great singer and a decent person most people I know would probably use there od against them and yet never take responsibility for there own actions man I wish I knew more people like bon jovi
Can't say I'm a fan of his music but that must be hard to go through, can't imagine what must be like for a father.
And, if you get denied employment or relationships because of your prior struggles with addiction, those people and jobs don't deserve you!
yes Jon...it happens to alot of people...young and old
