This is why your videos are so Damn good, you show your mistakes and own up to them unlike others who edit it out and never mention it. Kind of like when you forgot and flipped it upside down to take the paper off 😝. When struggling with WiFi if you have dual band you can turn off 5 mhz (on most routers) and use only 2.4 mhz for the connection. Once it’s found and connected you can turn it back on. Doesn’t always work but most times it will, most things struggle with 5 mhz, it is stronger so that’s what it tries to connect too but not compatible. Once it finds and remembers it you are good to go. Looks delicious as always … Cook on kids!
Great job Neil and Amy, came up with a winner after all and even the tweedy birds enjoyed it too so it has to be good. Thanks for sharing , stay safe and have fun with what you're doing. Fred.
Awesome transparent video as always. That’s why I use full and half aluminum pans 1. To keep the smoker as clean as possible and to catch juices and fats to reintroduce to the meat.
Everyone does it differently. All that matters is the taste and texture. I ran out of wood halfway through but had a decent bark. I put it in the instapot to finish it off. Came out pretty good. I've never tried a pellet smoker and never tried the paper method but eventually i will when i move. Until then I'll keep using my barrel smoker. I love that you have so many options to cook with
You're not alone on wifi issues. Last week when you introduced the Titan I went online and checked it out. In the reviews there were a fair number of one star reviews, nearly all of them complained about the wifi not working. They either have a user unfriendly system or bad hardware/firmware, whatever. On the foil boat preference, I find it most useful when the fat cap needs a little more render even if the bark is set well. The open top keeps rendering happening while protecting the naked meat on the bottom from getting overdone.
Great idea with side by side cooks on the different smokers. Been Pit Boss fan for years, Titan on the top of my list for an upgrade. Don’t need the Wi-Fi or BT but like some of these features.
That definitely looks delicious!! When I do mine, after it gets good color bark, approx 165°, I put mine in 1 of those foil pans with the high sides and add a little apple juice, then cover tightly with foil. Once probe tender, I pull off and leave it in the pan and remove the foil. Let it steam off, and the bark will actually kinda Reset itself. After sitting for an hour, uncovered, I pull it. If I lack juice or need juice for reheating, I use apple juice. Everyone is different but I do like the foil method you did. I did that with racks of ribs and it was amazing!! Nice video as always, Neal!!
Well I guess you got that first messy cook out of the way😂 Pork butt is probably my favorite thing to smoke. It's very forgiving, and fun to experiment with different methods😊
On the smoke mode use your finger and dial it from p4 on up to p7 I believe is max I have the same grill and you can adjust the level of smoke on the smoke mode👍 keep em coming great video. Speak with pit boss on WiFi issue had the same issue they walked me thru it.
Love the way u show that u don’t know it all. Great video good lookin smoker. Just curious - why not catch dripping in foil pan to 1 keep smoker cleaner 2 add drippings to butt when wrapping. Just a suggestion. Keep the videos coming.
In another video we talked about reheating brisket (or anything!) using the sous-vide method. I did it tonight with leftover brisket, and it was absolutely perfect @145F for an hour or so. It maintained its original juiciness and tenderness. WooHoo! - Cheers! This pork cook looked awesome - I've been adding a baking sheet under the foil after "foil boating" to prevent your juice leak - seems to work well for me so far.
Neal, Amy, that sure looked pretty amazing! But i just can`t bring myself to buying one of them there fancy gadgetry techy electric pellet smokers. I`m old school, to set in my old ways and i`m still using my 40yr old stick burner with real logs burning in it. (The Magic Internal Temp is 203 degrees, let it rest to 160 degrees)
Interesting results...the shake that really held its own..even being my own seasoning I would not have used it...some people were saying how good it was...i kept thinking they were being nice and just shrugged it off...I was surprised how much we liked it...
I've been on the phone pretty much all day with support trying to get the Wi-Fi up and going on mine. I can connect with Bluetooth with no problem but I can't walk to my living room which is less than 20 ft away
@@wesleymartin5366 No, I'm getting ready to ask for a credit to get a WiFi/ Bluetooth thermometer. Since the service I bought doesn't work. The Bluetooth is crappy also losing connection less than 4 feet away and not notifying me of cook times nor tracking temperatures. If you look at the app from Dansons everyone is complaining. I think it was rushed to market with the cheapest hardware available. Support was going to email me back if I get a response I will respond here.
@@PelletsandPits thanks a lot for the feedback. I’m driving into Texas this week to pick up the Titan. Decided to go with it over the Ironwood XL. Keep on smokin!
I bought the new Titan about 2 months ago. Never got the wifi to work. Turned off 5ghz, even removed password on 2.4ghz called pit boss, they said it was a wifi problem. Everything else in my house connects easy peasy. Took the grill back and got another one. Brought it home and had the exact same issue. Tried everything and called Pit Boss again. Returned it and won’t look back. Their customer service didn’t want to solve the problem. Just wanted to blame my wifi and have me contact my ISP. I think it has cool features but customer support matters.
Honestly I completely agree....hate that...really do...but thats being honest and thats what we stand for....just being honest...thanks for commenting...
When I originally bought the grill in April, I figured it was just a bug in the app and gave them some time. Now it's too late and I've tried 3-4 app updates and it's still an issue. I've called PB multiple times on this and they are clueless on how to support this. I'll never buy anything PB again and will never recommend them to anyone.
What I’d like to see is a head-to-head smoke off using all your smokers, including the LSG. Use the same brand pellets BUT utilize ANY and ALL features on each grill. For example, use the Smoke Feature on the Pit Boss. Use chips in the pellet mix with the LSG. In other words, use the features available on each grill as it comes to you. Don’t add a smoke tube or anything that doesn’t come with the grill. Just use the grills to their best outcomes. Smoke some pork butt or maybe add some ribs to the mix. Use the same rub(s) so that that isn’t causing any differences. That would show the true potential of each grill.
That I do not know...thats from the manufacturer....when creating our seasonings...its like a HUGE game of what they offer and what we want...it was an offering...we tested it....and liked it...
Did you get the problem solved, or did you have to call Pit Boss? If so, what was their answer to the problem, and are they sending you another controller? I have also watched Grill Sergeant walk through review of the Titan, and he seemed to connect with no problem, but when asked in the reviews on how he did it, he would not answer back. I believe that since he is a pretty big UA-camr with a 100k+ followers for PB Smokers, that PB couldn't take the chance of people knowing this issue, they immediately sent him an newer controller with the updated firmware on it so he could make a walk through start up video. Seeing that his walk through review of the app, start up, and the controller board is about 4 days after his unboxing walk through review.
Interesting...I have not had any luck...so Pit Boss actually says they can not help...we need to call our internet provider... We saw similar comments and someone said to switch wifi from 5g to 2.4 g...and thats what the Titan says...it only runs on 2.4 hrz...so we bought an extender that allows that to happen and still CAN NOT connect...its extremely frustrating...my 2 wireless thermometers, and 4 other grills connect...no problem As for the Grill Sergeant...thats beyond me...we have spoken some through social but never connected so ....i dont have anything about that...
@@PelletsandPitsI've gone back and forth with pitboss for months on this and even tried to explain to their support that an ISP doesn't need to come install a "dedicated" 2.4GHz wifi SSID. They still don't get it. I regret paying for the Titan and they play dumb, like they don't know this is an active issue. Lol
same exact thing...not happy for sure...customer support blames my internet...my internet connects all other items no problem...some are saying it has to do with 2.4hrz vs 5 hrz.....you have to disable the 5 hrz and connect to 2.4....all done over the phone with internet people...I aint doing that...that sounds ridiculous...my bluetooth works will enough and I use aftermarket thermometers as well...
I gave them screen shots of me configuring my router to only 2.4Ghz, then a speed test and one of the routers on top the pit and they said it was on their end and to keep it plugged in they would do an over the air update on my controller. Unsure how they can connect to my controller when it’s never been on the server but I think it’s because they ran out of run around options when I provided them with all the info they didn’t want to see. I Plan on returning it on Friday while still can. Can’t see myself paying a premium price for a feature that doesn’t work. WiFi isn’t a factor and honestly for me I can do without but that means the grill should also be priced lower. I wish they sold this grill cheaper without the smart functions and that’s what I would buy.
I take the juice off of my pork butt, set it in freezer. Let the grease get hard. I remove the grease and pour the juice back into the pork butt after I have pulled it.
Obvious stuff but you need to try and find ribs the same weight and fat. Then make sure you weight out the seasonings so it’s the same amount on each. Love the channel but hate watching at night after diner cause now my mouth is watering and I am hungry 😂
