    Thank you for all you have done for Sosua. Rocky's was a great place to be. I hope it will live on in some fashion. Rick you are the best. Sosua is changing. Rick said that to me 5 years ago. Those changes have closed numerous businesses, depopulated the "city" and forever changed the economy. Does Sosua need a mega store for cheap beachwear? I think it should be a disco. No one is going to Sosua for the beach. Police run off the women, men don't visit. R.I P. to Sosua of years past. Thanks again Rick for letting us into your beautiful establishment, home and family. You are the best.
    Love you.

      I heard that Ecuador didn't have their own currency and was surprised to hear that they use the USD. I heard if you visit not to bring anything bigger than a $10 bill though. Also from the pictures I've seen most of the women look similar to the women you'd find in Southern Mexico, El Salvador, etc. Not really my type but to each his own.

    There haven't been any updates on the Status of Rockys But I'm gonna take a Guess and assume that Rocky's is still Running. Due to the Events that have taken place All the Hotels in Sosua would have been equally affected. This video was made not to long before the Apocalypse hit the world.

    I've been going next door to Cabarete for the past 14 years. Last week (jan 15-22) was the slowest I have experienced in many years. Might not be just a Sosua issue. Mr. T has said all the $$$ is going to Punta Cana.

    that's so hypocritical that they are hassling the women but not the men that are hiring them...and I know that's not your point on this video but it's still not fair.

    • @EducatedTraveler
      @EducatedTraveler  3 роки тому +2

      No-one should be hassled - our freedoms as people stop where the cops noses begin! These woman come from all over the country to meet the vacationing men, so if both parties are happy, then everyone else should focus on their own lives, and not try to manipulate something that has been a natural thing down here for decades! P.S. Many of my friends now have wives and kids because of these hot encounters, so who are we to judge?

    • @waschell1
      @waschell1 3 роки тому +1

      @@EducatedTraveler you know I'm not judging them partaking..live and let live. What I don't like is the cops singling out the women but you are right, if it's legal then why are they hassling them in the first place? Although I do understand if it's raunchy stuff like twerking in the streets and such, as Flip Flop said, either keep it indoors or someplace else down the beach so tourists that don't want to see it don't have to. Your friend that did the big development had it solved it seemed and then the gov squelched it. Cut their nose off to spite their face...I hope it comes back.

    I don't stay in resorts and I'm a "family" tourist. I stay in small hotels or airbnb. I eat at the local restaurants and shop in the local shops. The places I looked at online in Sosua over several years were horrific. I wouldn't stay in one of these places unless my life depended on it. While I am very sorry to hear about people losing their customers and businesses (this is NEVER a good thing), I'm not going to stay in a place looks dirty, outdated, non-secured or overpriced. I hope the owner of Rocky's finds a solution for his business, it appears he will be well missed and I would have enjoyed trying his restaurant. All the best to those involved.

    So sad to see a business destroyed. I think the plan is accelerating to destroy the local economy to make room for the all inclusive resorts. I hope the locals are no forced out of the new economy or denied access to the beach.

    • @EducatedTraveler
      @EducatedTraveler  4 роки тому

      Absolutely! With the same set-up as now, Rocky's used to be booming, so that shows what happens when the priorities of the Authorities change, based on the big bribes they've obviously received - it's disgusting and business owners need to fight back with vicious force and sue the heck out of them!

    A long time ago I read somewhere that they would make a zone in the North for the clubs. In a more recent article another site said the new zone will be in the area of Playa Chiquita, which is indeed a little bit North of Sosua. Any truth to this?

    • @EducatedTraveler
      @EducatedTraveler  4 роки тому

      Yes, there is a new night club area being built in Playa Chiquita, but this is a private investor who's taking the entire risk, the municipality has not bothered to invest a dime or help in any form or way, as all they do is harass and destroy businesses that don't fit in with their "Family Friendly Agenda". But because they yet can't survive without the money coming in from mixed tourism, they are for now allowing this guy to keep the party scene going in the outskirts, yet one day for sure they will try to eliminate all clubs all together, and make it the nr.1 boring town of DR! We need a new mayor badly!!
