With some thought and planning, it is possible to go away in just a personal item size bag (or under seat bag) for a week plus. I hope that this video will guide you through the process.
I have this exact same bag. Love it! Took it as my only bag on a 4 day weekend to New Orleans. Worked great! Just have to buy really tiny souvenirs. Also took it as my personal carry on to Egypt. Had no problem with Austrian Air. It only cost me $30 and held up so much better than other more expensive bags I have. Love your videos!
Hi @ritasnellgrove6343 Wow that is amazing that you took the bag to Egypt and good to know that you had no problem with Austrian Air. I do love this bag. It hits a sweet spot that so many other bags don't.
Coming back re-watch. My lovnock bag is the 15.9 bag... Yet..I am only going 4 days... So..whew...seeing how u did again...I am confident I can do this
@PerriesPassport ty. I pre practiced with medium...took me a couple of tries...but...I ended up ...with a one bag backpack with this bag. Whew. I can with fjällräven..but...with this bag..the straps are more comfortable..and is better organized. Thank u...thank you
First of all...sorry for the emergency. I loved how u showed ur bag. I have one like that...and I learned a lot. I do personal item only for allegiant. I use the fjallraven kanken 15 inch lap top. I use 2 compass rose slim packs for 5 days worth of clothing. One lays flat the other on its side. I use slim pouches as well as the bento bags for electronics and toiletries. The tiny front pocket..stuff for the plane. In the laptop section..I put in a tiny slim crossbody bag and my liquids bag. Since I use a lot of solids..the liquids bag is a quart plastic bag from ziplock. Inside the backpack..at the top..for a bigger pouch as a catch all. The two water bottle pockets I utilize as well. I actually cannot wait for your other videos on this subject. I love the backpacks for travel. ..hands free. I also have used the bento 3 bag..but..it can be heavy...and..doesn't fit allegiant...but does for the rest of US airlines
Hi @marybrady6934, thanks for your kindness regarding the family emergency. It all worked out in the end. It sounds to me like you do a great job on your own. I love those compass rose packing cubes. They hold a ton and fit almost anywhere. Great for these kinds of bags. I think the bento bag is a great bag, but I have a hard time with the weight as well as the irregular shape. but hey, that's just me. I can't wait for you to see these other bags. Totally different from what is out there!
Hi @lauralinkoff3776, I tend to reshuffle my dirty laundry into one bag, and the clean in the other. If I am with family I tend to do laundry there, otherwise I do it when I get home.
Good video! I'm curious about the Loovook vs the Baggalini 3-in-1 vs the Samantha Brown To‐Go 3 Ways to wear convertible tote. That would be a nice comparison. It seems the 3-in-1 is quite popular at this time (2024).
Hi @696969bold I just checked out those bags and that sounds like a very interesting comparison. I will put that in my notes for future videos, so stay tuned!
Purchased one of these bags and sent back as I found it awkward to deal with. Your bag seems really heavy! Hopefully you were able to carry to your destination.
Hi @nikij.6058 it wasn't light but not too heavy that I couldn't carry it. My Beis bag gets much heavier since it's easy to overstuff, but I usually put it on my carry-on. That is why I used this one.
I bought this bag (might be a bit larger than yours, Amazon is confusing sometimes) after seeing it on Travel Tips with Laurie. It’s a smidge deeper than what Air Canada show (7.5” vs 6”), but another video showed it fitting in the personal bag sizer. I’ll be using this and a carry on for 17 day trip in Oct/Nov. I’m worried, but determined LOL.
Hi @TracyKMainwaring Here is what I would suggest (which is what I do). It's always better to do a real life test, so if I am not sure, I do a test pack and go to the airport and see if it fits into the sizers. I know that Air Canada is rather strict, so if I were you, I would do this. Btw, my bag is the 17 inch which is the larger bag, and what I found was that it actually fit better than the smaller one, since it gave some squish room in the sizers. I hope this helps! Happy travels ahead! ✈✈🧳🧳
@PerriesPassport it's not feasible to just go to the airport... an hour away through Toronto, no cheap parking. However, we will be there picking up/ dropping off people a few times so might be able to do it!. And my husband is going to Europe on a business trip... but he won't take my bag LOL
@@TracyKMainwaring I was going to suggest having a friend take you to the airport and you just jumping out to drop the bag in the sizer. As for my hubby, he only took my blanket, not my backpack. He had his, LOL!
The link you have for packing cubes are for compression cubes. Can you please share the size of the packing cube you used in the video? Thank you. This video is so helpful!
Hi @kathleenb4574 , Those cubes were from Away. Here is the link to the set: www.awaytravel.com/accessories/packing-cubes-four?color=coast_blue Hope that helps!
HI @TracyKMainwaring I do a lot of traveling and the only airlines that I have ever been stopped for weight is Easy Jet, Ryanair, and Froneiter. Their weight limits are still quite high, so I have never had any issues with them. When in doubt, always check online to see if your airline has a weight limit.
Hi @sandiblakney5447 I pack shoes when I am going for pleasure, otherwise when I am trying to be very minimal it's the ones that I am wearing so I choose carefully. I guess I could have taken my fold up flats and put them into the other water bottle compartment, but it just wasn't important to me.But that is why I said everyone's usage will be different and this was just what I did.
Hi @tinyablake1593 LOL, I promise you I am not a smelly person. If I am gone long enough I go to the laundromat, or for smaller items I wash them in the sink. I would rather do that then drag around big bags from place to place. Btw, for this trip, I was staying with family, so I could use their washer if I needed it.

I like that bag! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Hi @Gevedon That is one of my go-to bags as a personal item. Still a fave of mine!
Hi Perrie! I love this kind of video. It would be fun to see a video with the different outfits you can make with just those pieces.
HI
@EmilyWilliams1967 I will be doing that after I get out 2 other videos I promised on personal item bags that fit for international flights.
