Sad one bill my auntie floss r I p played dessies ma she was a legend and still is we lost her couple years back she was one strong lady and il always love her watched it on Netflix still cant believe how real she was in it thanks for this bill ❤🙏
I watched that on cutting edge on C4 and it was real as, i was always thinking these lads weren’t real actors but you’ve made my day saying they weren’t and still watch it occasionally. Thank you Billy for all your insights and stories💯
I cannot believe this!! I have been trying to find this fabulous film for years and I see that it is now a thing. It was so realistic, unglamorous and beautifully acted. Very, very true to life of North West working class.
Brilliant mate this really resonated with me had similar experiences & this definitely took me back i think we are lucky we had the inner strength & character to say no more. My days are taken up on 10 k walks with my beloved Staffordshire bull terrier & a clean living life getting up on a morning ready to connect with the world. I think unless you’ve experienced that other life you can’t truly appreciate the here & now. ✊🏽
I think it was actually made as one of those Film on Four projects. I remember flipping through the channels on telly in about 2000 and catching it part way through. I instantly realised it was something unique. I'd see the DVD for sale in HMV sometimes in the years after, but they were trying to charge £15 or £20, so I never bothered to buy it. Searched for it online all the time and finally found it years ago. Everyone knows it now, but back then it was a small, indie film that most people had never seen or heard of. I still watch it periodically. Absolutely brilliant. The bit that always stuck in my head was at the beginning when we see John hanging about outside this fellas house, then suddenly Ricky and Des come flying round the corner bally'd up!
I remember watching and taping this when C4 first showed it - it seemed so realistic compared with most films that were out up to that point - or how I imagined that life to be in real life UK. I certainly had never seen anyone on film spewing up after killing someone before, same with the petrol shower scene after the crazy shootout where nobody got hit - I had never seen or read about using petrol to get shut of evidence in real life. I would say that Shooters is a underrated gem of a movie that deserves be a lot more widely known than it is today.

Brilliant film. I can’t believe none of them were proper actors, they were all great in it. My only problem is it’s too quick - it’s only 70 mins long. It’s on UA-cam if anyone wants to see it.
Only watched this on Netflix yesterday I'm from Dublin Ireland and watching the film brought back memories the scousers are so like us dublin lads everything the exact same over here in Dublin too a T... Even had crazy wig!😂
As a filmmaker myself Billy (originally from Liverpool) Shooters was brilliant, very visceral and why was that, well it had a documentary feel to it (with actual Liverpool felons/ir ex) it was slated by the pouncey London liberal dweebs who were fed a diet of Guy "I practice dressage" Ritchie bullshit. 20 years later the film still resonates.
I watched this on channel 4 when they first showed it , bout 2000 or 2001 , thought it was a great film especially considering non of them were real actors
This film is nothing short of a complete masterpiece, it doesn’t get anywhere near the credit it deserves.

The first time I saw Shooters I was on remand in Doncatraz, a wing full of 16yr olds had never been so quiet. Everybody loved it.
I was on remand in Walton jail at the time... I’d just done a ten and was looking at an 80! Do I win the bullshitting competition?
