    The Woman in Black and Casting the Runes are both top notch literature and 100% cozy. For years I have fallen asleep to audio versions of both. Also agree that a lot of Lovecraftian horror is very cozy in part because of the academic tilt to many of the stories.

    I love this! I was actually compiling my own list of "cozy" horror books so we must be on the same wavelength

    Me catching up with all the videos I have missed 😅 really loved the recommendations. There is something so cozy sabout many horror books hahaha specially probably the more supernatural ones. They tend to be more atmospheric and cozy for the winter season

      I didn’t think that cozy and horror mixed at all until I tried making this list, and then it I was surprised at how easy it was coming up with the books. 😂

    Great list. I read Lock Every Which was excellent. I can see that becoming like a 3 part series. The twist ending was awesome. I have Sager's book Home Before Dark, it kind of has a Amityville vibe to it. That book Red Equinox sounds real interesting. As a huge fan of the second Predator movie. Plus you described it as a "dark academia" which sound awesomely creepy. My wife loves the cozy mystery books buy author Laura Levine, about writer and amateur sleuth Jane Austen and her cat Prozac.

    • @JasonsWeirdReads
      @JasonsWeirdReads  2 роки тому +1

      I would say Red Equinox is dark academia light as it has a similar atmosphere along with a little study of the dark arts type stuff. But it also has that investigatory aspect to it. It is all Lovecraftian, however. 😀 I hope that you enjoy it. I see those cozy mystery books similar to those by Laura Levine. They appear to be very popular these days!

    This idea made me smile, great. One general wish. If possible I would appreciate a content list when your episode features many books. Also for my tbr but mkostly cause I like to add comments to the episode with that particular book. Sometimes takes time before I come back to comment and may be hard to find that episode. I really like your comments on books so I am not trying to use shortcut here. Coraline was excellent choice here, great audiobook also. And so is M R Jones, also great in audiobook format with David Suchet narrating.

    Sherlock Holmes is one of my favorite all time characters. My favorite tv version of him is the 1980s Granada Series with Jeremy Brett. To me he really was holmes. Susan Hills Dolly is really lovely eerie coming of age story, if you havebt read that. Great list!

    I read the Woman in Black this month and thought it was fabulous. I didn't realize it kicks of around xmas otherwise I would of held off till then. Yes the heavy atmosphere though dark and gloomy gives a sense of all encompassing...also the little town the main character arrives in via train is nice and cozy too. Thanks for sharing ~ Tracey

    Great video, thank you for the recommendations! I just finished reading Dead White by Alan Ryan and I think it would fit this theme perfectly as well. Small town trapped by a blizzard visited by an antique circus train filled with menacing clowns, good stuff!

    When I think of "cozy" genre it's something along the lines of the cozy mysteries.. aimed at older folks with less punch to the story.. lots of bookstore/bakery owners and cats involved... basically the same concept of the YA genre. The one that comes to mind for me is the Charlaine Harris (known for the Sookie Stackhouse series AKA True Blood) Harper Connelly series. It's about a girl who was struck by lightning and can find dead people and see how they died. Actually most of her stuff would fit, the Stackhouse books are nothing like the TV series in content. I would consider a lot of Koontz books to be "cozy" as well.

    Curse of the Demon is the English pop star Kate Bush' favorite movie. She samples a line from it in the title track of her album, The Hounds of Love.
    This makes me want to do my own list video but I'm not sure what I want it to be on. I'm thinking folk horror, maybe.

    Have you read "The Witch of Blackbird Pond" by Elizabeth Speare, and also "The Halloween Tree", by Ray Bradbury? Good stuff.

    So many great choices in this list! I am always excited for anything Lovecraftian. I also wanted to let you know that I tried three times to leave a comment on your last video. It would never post. 🤷‍♂️. Also, I appreciate you subscribing to my channel. (You are currently the only one. 😂). I managed to read the comment you left on my first video in my email. It is not displaying on the video. It shows a comment, but will not display the actual comment. 🤷‍♂️ I am working on the “new booktuber” video you suggested. Thank you for that! I am sorry to post all this here, but I did not want you to think I was not replying to your kind comment. Thank you again!📚
