Was wondering if you’ve listened to “Let the Truth Speak” by Earthside. It has Dan Tompkins from tesseract in it and it’s gotta be one of the best written songs I’ve ever heard. I think you’d love it!
funny you uploaded this today, I finally checked this EP out yesterday and spent all night binge watching live videos after falling in love with this EP. Glad to say Greg and the ETID boys are absolutely killing it live. Greg still up to his jumping off balconies to piss of security shenanigans and Jordan is still a Riff Wizard. Decided to look up tickets and I missed all reachable shows by 5 days for me :(. I love the whole EP but I just can't get enough of Sacrifical Participant. Although it does kinda bum me that a lot of the lyrics seem to be pointed at Keith of ETID. While I get that Keith probably wasn't the greatest bandmate and there's a bit of resentment, Keith was and is still one of my favorite vocalists.
I never thought there could be a musical reconciliation of “grunge” and “metalcore” done in a tasteful way. You can tell Greg being a Layne Staley stand in for Jerry Cantrell had an effect. But on the other side of things, Keith is also going down the grunge metalcore wave. This is an interesting development in the genre when the popular music is cringe BMTH, Ronnie Radke and Bad Omens butt rock octane stuff, the metalcore purists went grunge.
All the crunchy, ferocious dirt mixes perfectly with the beautiful softer moments. Very much the perfect mix of the Converge era, more modern melodic moments, with a splash of sludge and the voice of Dillinger himself shrieking into it all. It's glorious.
Think the vocals and chaos levels are bit much for me overall so it's not something I'll revisit. That being said I did kind of like "30 Under 13" and the second half of "Become So Small" was quite cool! Also as you mentioned, I did enjoy those bass sections that broke up the chaos. Glad you enjoyed it a lot though since you bought the ticket! Probably will be a very fun live experience!
still in awe at this lineup lmao, so pumped for whatever else they've got in the works
glad you had fun with it homie!!!
I'm so happy having Greg in his all gas towards a cliff element.
YAYYYYY BETTER LOVERS
yessssss
Anything with Greg kicks major ass! From The Dillinger Escape Plan to The Black Queen and from his solowork to Killer Be Killed! Love it!
That’s a wild discography. And then to be a fill in for Layne Staleys irreplaceable voice and kill it
Love hearing some of those familiar ETID licks!
Sacrificial participant is their best song imo. Love it
