Tom Usually Does not mute the A string on the octaves. Its unorthodox and not theoretically correct in the classical sense. Its part of his style and it sounds cool when he does it. Other than that this is a pretty good tutorial.
Although what you said is true, the A5 you're describing is a bit more treble-ier and 'open' sounding as opposed to the A5 she's playing which is closed and meatier sounding, much like the original. Closed imo usually sound better. Hope this helps :)
Why dont you play the "A5" like the "E5"? I mean open a-string , 2nd fret on the d-string, and 2nd fret on the g-string? its really easier cause its short way to change the chords
You're doing the outro all wrong, every other time you strum you have to let it ring. Which means you don't strum all of the notes , you strum whenever you hit the 2nd, 7, 9, and 10 frets. You don't strum every single one of them
blink 182: Making easy songs sound spectacularly badass since 1992
Wow pretty awesome and a bonus since that outro is also the main riff in the song "All of this" 🌹👍🏼

You made it look so easy that I was really taken aback by the boo boo at 2:25. Phenomenal job.

Awesome!! Thank you so much (:
The putting gradually slows down into all of this
Thanks for this :)
You need to do all of the mahalo series. Can Jennifer T. and it'd be perfect.
Great

Tom actually keeps the A string open while he plays the octaves. Everything besides the octave notes is muted.
