  • English explanation (versione in italiano qui sotto)
Purchasing non original parts may sometimes cause unexpected problems.
It was time to replace the lamp of my Epson TW6100 projector. Original parts cost hundreds of dollars, non original lamps cost around 50 to 100 dollars.
I decided to purchase a 60 dollars lamp with housing on Amazon, I replaced it in a couple of minutes, everything seemed fine.
The brightness was good, the beamer did not reject it.
But the problem was there....as soon as I stopped the video playback, I started to hear a faint sound, like a siren or a beeping.
This sound never stopped, you could hear it even during a movie, this was unbearable.
I found no solution on the web, the only suggestion was to set the beamer to normal mode, instead of ECO, but so the fan is very loud, the lamp will last
40% less....and, even if different from the siren, an alarm sound was still there.
So I decided to mount the non original bulb in the original Epson housing....and it worked!
If you decide to replace your beamer's lamp, always keep the original housing, it could be used in case the projector does not like the non original replacement.
Plese find below a link to the replacement of the housing.
    Hope this helps someone.

    Italiano:

Hey man thanks for the video. I followed your instructions and replaced the bulb inside the casing of the original Epson lamp and fired it up and I still get beeping in eco mode. Exactly the same pitch/etc as you showed. I noticed my bulb is slightly different to the Epson one in that it doesn't have the extra resistor attached. As i'm well out of warranty with this unit I was considering opening up the projector and cutting the wires on the internal speaker that causes the beep.

Hi, yes this could be a solution. Only that it could be difficult to locate the little buzzer and even more difficult to disconnect it. If you set the beamer to normal mode, instead of Eco, the fan noise (it's not loud) could cover the beeping. Let me know if you manage to disconnect the buzzer. Good luck 👍

@@giannitorre7544 Hey thanks for the reply. I ended up sourcing a relatively cheap brand new bulb on Ebay genuine Epson. Installed it and back running again. RRP on those bulbs is high but the picture really pops now.

@@zakblue Hi, happy to hear that you solved. Is the replacement an oem bulb (@150 usd) or 100% original epson (@300 usd and up)?

@@giannitorre7544 The replacement bulb was the full priced Epson bulb but I got it for much lower than RRP ($170 AUD) It was factory sealed with an Epson stamp. As soon as I installed it the siren noise disappeared. I also noticed it much brighter in eco mode vs my cheap amazon bought replacement from before ( that cost me $60AUD) Cheers

@@zakblue I had the same problem, it wasn't the housing it was the bulb. I had the original housing and replaced the bulb with an OEM bulb and I had the siren sound, now Im going to buy an original epson bulb and try that. Im sure its the bulb because the original bulb has a purpose porcelain housing at the rear of mine vs the OEM one that doesn't

My projector started beeping so I moved the sofa to improve the airflow and it stopped. The issue may be the projector overheating due to fans running too slow in Eco mode so you can open a window or point a fan at the projector even on the lowest setting to move the hot cloud of the air away from the projector.

My Sony Projector does this too. I have to run the lamp on high for it to disappear. Time to replace the Bulb!

Hi, if it is under warranty you should better contact the assistance, or the seller. Otherwise, try changing the lamp settings from eco mode to normal, I did it a couple of times and the noise disappeared.

I have tried a few non Epson bulbs in the original lamp housing and it still beeps. some people seem to have got it to work doing this. I'd love to know how it knows it's the real one from the casing?? It's just a plastic box?? Anyway, it doesn't work. Does anyone know how to just physically stop the buzzer. I'd be happy to open the projector and just cut a wire!!!

Hi, you are right, the buzzer in some cases keeps beeping. You could try to put the beamer in standard mode. I have noticed that in normal mode, when the fan is working faster, there is no beeping. Moreover, I have watched a teardown video of this Epson but could not see where the buzzer is, sorry. I believe that the presence of a fuse on the original bulb could help the beamer recognizing a non original lamp, but it's just a theory. Next time I will purchase a diamond lamp or an original one.
