Oh, I’m glad to hear! I had the same experience and that was a major reason why I wanted to make a detailed video on how to hang one. Hopefully it helps you get your project done! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thanks. You’re the only one who demonstrates how to put the stoppers on. I know it’s easy but growing up with a hard working single mom. I had to teach myself most of the things people assume everyone knows. Deeply appreciated your video.
@Username_87 I’m so happy this video helped! I tried to make it as detailed as possible for that reason. Thanks for chiming in and letting me know how it helped you! 😊
I’m so happy that you found this helpful! That was my objective and your message encourages me to keep putting easy to follow videos on my channel. Really appreciate your comment and I wish you lots of success on your barn door project! 🙌🏼
This was the best video on barn door installation I’ve seen! Thank you 😊 I have a wall right next to the left as do you and this made it extra Informative! Thanks again. And the sneaky fur baby is hilarious. I have one of those 😉
Haha 😂 She’s sneaky! And they have both figured out how to slide the door open lol. Now I need to add a decorative latch 😅 Glad the video helped!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
The Studfinder. That was my nickname in college. But seriously, I have watched several of these trying to figure out how to install our new barn door for our kitchen, and yours is the easiest to understand. Thank you
First, great video. I had to build my door, to cover a 54 inch arch way. My door is identical to yours. I used tongue and groove siding and 1.5 inch screws that looked like #4 finishing nails. And, plenty of glue for the T&G. I used Reliabilt hardware. The hardware was good, but the graphics left a lot to be desired. So much so, I had to go to UA-cam. My door is pretty heavy, so I may have to cut it in half. The cost was about the same if I had bought the door, but I wanted to build it. $150 for the wood, $90 for the hardware, $40 for stain, glue and screws. Using plywood would have been faster and cheaper.
Sounds like you did an amazing job! I had to assemble mine but the engineering was already done for me 😅 Appreciate your sharing your experience on here. I bet it looks amazing! 🤩
Outstanding!! I’m preparing to install a barn door in an existing doorway. It currently has wood trim around the door to compliment the existing door. Will I need to remove the trim work, or will the barn door have spacing to accommodate the trim? Thanks so much for sharing!!
I’m a longtime DIY’er... just now for the first time installing one of these... I’m liking your content, but the background music wants to make me put an ice pick in my head... other than that you’re easy on the eyes and fun to watch. Keep up the great work! 😊
Haha! Thank you, I think 😅 One of these days I’ll get the music figured out. Appreciate the feedback. Wishing you much success with your barn door project! 🙌🏼
Installed my doors today.. went smooth.... @@TammysHomeTips these S. Florida metal studs are a pain tho, I like wood studs better... my stud finder kept giving me false readings... all in all a fun project. New sub here.. you’re fun to watch.
Thank you ☺️ I would say the 40” door with the 2” on each side is enough but you can definitely do the 42” door as well. Really depends on how much wall space you have, the location and your personal preference. If you aren’t sure, you can use a thumbtack to hang a string down on each side of the door opening to give you a visual of your preferred size (2 vs 3 inch overlap on each side). Much success to you on your project! 🙌🏼🙂
If you have molding around your opening it is nice to get a door wide enough to cover it if you don't want it showing. I added my molding into my door width decision because mine would look weird if it showed.
@@woofwoof-w4g Thanks. I went with a 42 inch and am glad I did. It offers more privacy. Then put a 1 x 4 inch wide border around the door, looks great!
Hello there! Here is what I used. Paneled Wood Unfinished Barn Door without Installation Hardware Kit on Wayfair. I simply did not use the decorative angled wood piece as I’m not really into that look. You will also have to buy the hardware separately. I used Sliding Classic Design Standard Single Barn Door Hardware Kit, also on Wayfair. I had to stain and sand the door myself. Wish I had done a video on that 😕
Thank you for the question! The board you put up first needs to line up with those lines. That provides the support. Then the black bolts can go anywhere on the board because the support is there.
Thank you for your question. There is a small piece that you attach to the floor to keep it on track. However it is on the right bottom side of the door and is always covered by the door whether it is open or closed so it is never a trip hazard. The stops on the overhead railing prevents it from opening or closing too much. Hope this answers your question. 🙂
Hi Debra, I found this door on Wayfair but had to completely assemble it as it came in pieces and I had to stain it as well. Wish I had thought to do a video on that part as well… 😬🙃
I’ve watched about ten videos on barn door installation as I'm putting one up tomorrow. This is by far the most informative and detailed. Thank you!❤️
Hope the video helped and you had a smooth installation!!
You make things so much easier to understand compared to other tutorials. Also love the sense of humor and personality!!
Thank You! I hope it helps with your project 👍🏼👊🏼🙏🏼

I love how unlike in other videos you dont assume one already knows how to do a step and therefore just gloss over it. Much appreciated.
Oh! I’m glad to hear that ☺️ That’s one of my pet peeves 😬 I need details myself and wanted to share details that I appreciate having. Hope it helps!
Because of your video I was able to install my door perfectly. Thank you
I’m so happy to hear that! Feels good to get these projects done 😊
thank you. finally found a barn door installation that has the best details.

Thank you for the feedback! If you are putting a header board at the top like I did, it should be fine to leave the door trim.
That looks great! Great channel, thanks!
Thank you so much! More to come... :)
Excellent and informative information... Thank you!
Thank you. Hope it helps!

Great job! I have a 36 inch opening for a bathroom. With the experience you now have would you suggest a 40 or 42 inch door width?
Thank you ☺️ I would say the 40” door with the 2” on each side is enough but you can definitely do the 42” door as well. Hi, thank you for sharing. I cannot find the door a of my choosing, where did you find yours please?
Yes, wish you had done a video of that.

Thsnk you again
what color was the dang stain? dang it!
nice video and great job
Yikes! Well… Sad story. Somehow we discarded the stain😩I’m as upset as you are because I would like to do a little touch up 😓😬
Great video!! Is the header board centered on the line you drew at 86” or is the line on the bottom of the board?
It is centered on that line. Hope this helps 🙂
Thanks for the fast reply!
Sure thing! Wishing you success with your project!!
Wow!!! You did an amazing job. I have learned a lot from you and thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much! I wish you a successful installation 🙌🏼🎉
You do great job thanks 🙏 😊
Thank you so much! I hope it helped you with your project!
good job
Thank You! 🙏🏼
The rounded bolt nuts go on the front of the door not the back side oops. The instructions were awesome
Thank you for that 😅🤪
What size header board did you use? 1x4 or 1x6. It's hard to tell. I just bought a 1x6 Thanks
It is hard to tell in the video but it’s actually a 1x4. Good you asked 👍🏼
Hello - how long are the screws that you use on the headboard into the wall? 2.5 inches? Or 3 inches? Thanks!
I honestly didn’t check. It came as a set and I no longer have that information
Question. The black large screws match up to the line you drew???
Thank you for the question! The board you put up first needs to line up with those lines. That provides the support. Then the black bolts can go anywhere on the board because the support is there.
@@TammysHomeTips thank you my board is up I made the door but I have no instructions. Your vid helped totally
Wonderful!! That’s what motivates me. So glad it worked out 🙌🏼🎉
Did you add a rail at bottom with stop ? If so wont you trip on rail ? Thanks
When the door is opened; does it cover the light switch?
Yes, it is covered for us whether it’s open or closed.
You're hanging it into the studs because the drywall will not hold a heavy door. The anchors are for naught. They won't help. The door would fall.
You are 💯 correct. Thank you for the added clarification 😉
Where did you purchase your door?
I actually got this one on Wayfair. 🙂
Does someone know if she shared where exactly she got the door from? TIA!
Hi Anahi! I actually bought this door on Wayfair. Thank you for the question.
What stain color did you use?
That is the million dollar question. Unfortunately, I can’t find it among my paint collection 🥴
Awe, well thanks for the quick response!
Did she say where it was ordered
Hi Debra, I found this door on Wayfair but had to completely assemble it as it came in pieces and I had to stain it as well. Wish I had thought to do a video on that part as well… 😬🙃
the cone nuts go in the front apparently watching another utuber who put them in the wrong way and corrected himself
Oh, interesting! I didn’t use a cone nuts but it’s possible I put a nut on the opposite side. Thank you for the feedback. 👍🏼
all the videos ive watched -- yours is the best
ellas a cutie
Thank you! I think so too 🥰
Something about a woman explaining just clicks. Thank you.
😅Well I’m glad if I helped make sense of it. Thanks for sharing! Wish you the best with your project! 🙌🏼
The dog is so snuggly.
Yes! She’s our little snuggle buddy 🥰
What stain did you use?
I wish I could remember… 😔
