I noticed in the Long Night of Solace cutscene that the sabers had skulls and crossbones which is the same symbol used by the United States Naval Fighter Squadron VFA-103 Jolly Roger’s. Do you think it was just a reference or that the Jolly Roger’s exist in Halo lore?
From some things that have been said it seems that before the war the UNSC had few ships, around 200 or so, after the war and I quote: the UNSC gathered all its ships in the solar system, adding up to a few hundred. The issue of the number of ships has never been adequately addressed.
Probably a few thousand realistically. They had like what 800 colonies? It was a 30 year losing war so they probably were dwindled down to a few hundred.

@Chris-os3nt yeah, I love to hear more about it. I thought Earth had like 1500 outer colonies' worlds with 300-440 inner world . With 10k war ships.
