If you like NH, come back and hike other trails. The AT gives you a good idea of the trails here but there are so many more, both challenging and/or interesting. Some of the trails in the Great Gulf will take your face off climbing them. Invest in an AMC White Mountain Trail Guide, it has more than trail information, with some history of the area your hiking in, why things are named as they are, stuff like that. When you get to the Mahoosuc Range, I'll give you a tip to find the DC-3 airliner that crashed on Mt. Success in 1954, enormous wings and fuselage, if that's something that interests you.
That ridge line was interesting- no trees so you had incredible views. Wish I could hike something like that!
