Lafayette is a beautiful climb. The honor system HUT system is awesome. I hiked it several times. One day hiking down, a group of Greenleaf HUT volunteers were hiking up, with everything they'd need for a several month stay. They used 8' 2x4s strapped down with at least a 125 lbs if gear. They all had ox legs, lol, guys and gals! Great people!
Camped a night up there overlooking Eagle cliff, sleeping on the mountain moss, under the pine boughs. Good times!

That ridge is my nemesis.... our training ground...Lincoln and Lafayette are always cold and windy lol (IMHO).... But it's always beautiful!!!

Beautiful, it's a tough call but this might be top 3 hikes in New England or easy of the Mississippi. 10 miles up there feels like 25. Did the Franconia loop on October 7th, best hiking day I've ever had in the fall up here, temps in the 60's on the summit of Lafayette zero wind, no clouds, unlimited visibility. Watching this I was able to relive a glorious day, so happy to see your joy and wonderment in an epic place!
Woohoo you made it to my favorite part of the whites and the Franconia notch area. Great weather at the top despite the wind, took family to the area probably about a month before you hiked thru and it was a clear sunny morning but by the time I drove us to the base of Mt. Washington it was completely clouded in with drizzle.

Very nice video. Y'all were SO LUCKY to have the ridge to yourselves on a beautiful day. During the heat of summer, this ridge can be a conga line of people and you don't always get good weather. Franconia Ridge is THE best hike in all of New Hampshire. Many people have lost their lives up there in bad weather, so definitely respect these mountains. The sunset views from Garfield were fabulous. It looked like y'all took a left instead of a right off that summit. Keep your eyes on the GPS... especially in the dark ;-)

Excellent! You got to experience a spectacular day on Franconia Ridge. So glad, the views were for miles and the wind made it even more epic. This was one of my favorite hikes on the entire AT. Mount Washington and the Bigelows are right there with it but what an amazing day. Thank you for sharing. It is difficult to make these daily videos but you will be thankful you documented your adventure. Can’t wait to watch the rest of your journey as you continue to post. I've hiked this ridge a bunch of times but the clouds always roll in on me by the time I reach Lafayette summit. You got very lucky!
100%. Between the ridge and Mt Washington I have had more cloudy summits than clear ones! To me clouds are the norm!

.Hey Kelly! What a baller video! Having hiked over 2500 miles in Moabs, I have learned that they take a good 200 miles to break in. They are better than old school leather boots, but they are not nearly as “trail ready” as trail runners. I hope you have them a chance as they are a great boot. Holy 💩, there is nothing like the ridge. Yet again you captured the feel of the section amazingly. Your video took me back to the first time I climbed it and nearly brought me to happy tears. That clip of you hiking and smiling, living your best life was beyond words. What a perfect day! Every year around Thanksgiving I reflect on the things in my life that I am Grateful for. I hope you know that You and the time and effort you give us has made a huge difference in my year and I am forever grateful for everything. I hope you and the whole KH clan have an amazing Thanksgiving. 🙏 Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well.

The thicker the sock the tighter the shoe/boot can feel.
I hope you got to check out the bench at the view point just off the spur trail to the Garfield Shelter. It's a short way before the caretaker's tent. Great view and a nice place to enjoy an evening beverage!
