    Great video Michael. I did a full bar install on my road glide years ago, it was stressful. On my sport glide I kept the stock bars but added 4” risers, I am quite pleased. Now if only there was a virtual machine , where we could try out all the bars on our bikes that would be a game changer. Oh well maybe someday, happy riding. Cheers.

      Rob haha I know what you mean! I think I have only seen 1 or 2 other bikes here in Australia (in person) with riser and moto bar setup. So this was a really hard decision to get right! Fortunately the riser legs on these Kraus risers are interchangeable- so you can swap just the legs if you ever wanted to change the height 💪

    Great choice. I looked to buy exactly the same set-up for my Sport Glide six months ago, but had a problem finding a Kraus distributor in Europe who actually worked with the company and knew the product. Kraus offered to sell direct and ship to me, but there are currently high customs tariffs between the US and Europe and it proved to be an expensive option. There was also a small downside as the moto bars will not allow heated grips to be fitted, but I could have lived with that. I am still looking at alternatives, but can’t find anything I like as much. Looking forward to the next video on how the Kraus bars and risers affect the handling.

    • @TheMotoBarista
      @TheMotoBarista  4 роки тому

      Peter Connell ahh mate, that is a shame about the tariffs etc. I imagine heated grips would be nice in Europe - maybe could look into hand guards to help with wind deflection? I have to admit, the quality of these are amazing compared to everything else I have seen. Comfort, handling + style - everything has been improved drastically 👌

      I also have been looking at the Kraus risers the last couple of months....can’t find a dealer in Europe either....but I think I will buy it in US even though the shipping will be 320 $ and I will have to pay some tax to get it to Denmark....so way over 850 $ to get it here.....😏

    I base my motorcycle piloting on the ergonomics of the skeleton based on Thai chi science. What works for one will be disaster for some. So height, inseam, arms, wrist, hands all need to be considered. Great Video, most informative video I’ve found thus far about the pilot becoming one with the machine.

    Bike looks mean as, great info in this video mate, awesome job. Without a doubt go higher, you will never regret having more. Can't believe you waited that long to get higher bars hahaha
    12" Burleigh bars on my Street 500 and 14" Harley Chizeled bars on my Road King Special. With the Street maybe 14" would of been good but I don't regret it as the riding position isn't the same on the RKS.
    Glad you got Pro's to do the install, so many people DIY and pinch cables, and its just worth it unless you really know what you are doing... bars not working is kinda dangerous :S

    Great video! I read through all the comments and didn't see anything about vibration. A month ago I installed 12" T-Bars from someone else and above 3k RPMs, it's terrible. Like you're hanging on to a foot massager at the fair. With my stock bars with 4" risers there was hardly any buzzing or vibration so I'm sure it's the T-Bars acting like a tuning fork and just resonating.

    • @TheMotoBarista
      @TheMotoBarista  3 роки тому +1

      All bars are different and depends on what bushing you use also. Stock bikes have fat rubber bushing which remove vibration but give handling a mushy feeling. Most aftermarket use polyeurathene bushings which are a middle ground for vibration and handling.
      These Kraus riders use billet bushings which means extremely direct feedback in handling inputs - but high vibration. So Kraus added rubbing vibration dampeners in the mid section of the riser where it clamps to the bar. Best of both worlds. I have no vibration issues with these bars.

    Hope you’re recovery is going well. I just watched this older video about handlebar risers. I have 2018 SportGlide and find it more comfortable having installed 6” curved pullback risers, Corbin seat with backrest, floorboards in place of pegs (allows increased foot position flexibility) and Memphis Shades screen. I’m intrigued by the higher (almost apehanger like) risers but have to say they look less comfortable and that you’re stretched forward to reach them compared with natural seating position...?
    Thanks for great videos.

    • @TheMotoBarista
      @TheMotoBarista  3 роки тому

      Hey mate, recovery is going well, have been walking for a couple of weeks now, just working on my shoulder now. These bars and riders are extremely comfy for me especially compared to the stock bars. With stock I was reaching forward and down causing my to bend my bike forward. Now I am sitting a lot more upright and my hands are straight forward with a small bend in the elbows and at about armpit height. For me I find this a lot more comfortable and also find I use a lot more control on the bike as it provided a more responsive input to the bars. In comparison I find traditional ape hangars to be too wide and have too much turnout for my preference.

    • @drdannylevin
      @drdannylevin 3 роки тому

      @@TheMotoBarista Interesting. Thanks for the prompt comments. I’ve experienced lower back problems and hence find the sit back position with 6” risers and backrest helpful. Arms and hands are thereby relaxed and with pronounced elbow bend. Higher bars just look uncomfortable but o guess I should give them a try. Best wishes for speedy recovery and return to bike riding.

    Great video as usual. Very helpful. I have decided to change the risers on my ride so that the grips are on a horizontal level to my shoulders. I have decided on the KRAUS KICKBACK ISOLATED RISERS. I like the wider stock handle bars so hopefully don't need to change those. I can't decide as to whether to get the 10"or the 12" risers no matter how many times I measure. Having installed the 10" risers would say your grips are horizintaly in line with your shoulders or do you think they are a little lower? The video does't quite illustrate that. Let me ask you another way. having ridden with the 10" risers for a while now, do you think you would have preferred your grips 2" higher or do you think your 10" risers were and are your optimum height? I also have the 2018 Sport Glide. Any advice coming my way is appreciated. I am 5'11" . Thanks.

    • @TheMotoBarista
      @TheMotoBarista  4 роки тому +1

      Jacob Khakshouri hey dude, glad you like the video! First off all, you will have to change the bars - the stock bars are 1 1/4” and the risers support bars that are 1 1/8” wide, there is also a 1” option too. To be honest though, you’ll like the straight across MX bar - way better for comfort and handling. In terms of height I would say at 6ft tall and 34” inseam that the bars are perhaps just lower than my shoulders but only just - so depends if I am sitting upright or slouching too. I am happy with 10” - perfect height for me - any higher and I would be giving up some handling performance I think. The straight bit of riser legs are actually interchangeable so if you decide you want higher or lower later on you can just swap them out for a different size. Hope this helps!

    • @jacobkhakshouri2557
      @jacobkhakshouri2557 4 роки тому

      Really really appreciate the prompt response and yes your answers are very helpful. I was aware of the 1/8 difference in the diameter but I thought I could neutralize the difference. However, I never considered there would be any difference in comfort and handling with a straight bar. Thinking about it in terms of Physics it makes perfect sense. which makes me a little annoyed with myself considering my background :-) .. Installing a straight bar also answer the question of whether I should use a 10" or 12" riser. Due to the 1 1/2-2" rise within the stock bar, which you have also correctly referred to in your video, points to the 12". Thanks to you. I have been going back and forth on this for a few weeks now. I will miss the chunkiness of the stock bar, though I think I can find a little wider bar hopefully. Your video also convinced me to use same wires as you. The contrast looks amazing. By the way besides your bar, any input on other bars out there? I also spend time before I make a decision. A big part of the fun in riding. As an example, I have been waiting 2 years for Magnaflow to release their Rockstar 2 into 1 exhaust pipe for our ride. 2 Years! As for the cleaner, I waited for a year for Kuryakyn to manufacture the Mach 2 Co-Ax. I finally purchased one and had a new back plate made for it. I have used a lot of Kuryakyn in personalizing Perla such as grips, pegs, etc. I have also stripped off the black paint from the forks and so have a chrome front end. My next change is to replace the triple trees with a rake 4-7 degree so that the front leg is extended 3-5 inches. A bit of a challenge since there's isn't one manufactured yet. The FXDR uses the same triple tree but its only 4 degree rake. If I can't find a 6 or 7 then I will settle for that. By now I am sure you realize that I am taking Perla to a 70s-80s look while everyone is moving forward into the 21st century :-). I want that nostalgic and traditional look with the 21st century technology mix.
      Anyway, thanks again for your videos and your reply. Kraus 12" chrome Riser it is.

    • @TheMotoBarista
      @TheMotoBarista  4 роки тому

      Jacob Khakshouri from my understanding the mx bars are all very similar - just depends on width - either 1” which come in different types of height/bend (check Thrashin Supply Bars) but if you want 1 1/8” they are are standard mx width. I went with Kraus because I trusted their powder coating and machine cutting for internal wiring and throttle by wire. Sounds like you have an awesome bike dude - I’d love a 70s/80s style bike for fun!

      I prefer doing cables with handlebar jobs as you can upgrade your cable quality and also you are guaranteed to have 0 fitment issues. I changed the complete clutch cable, and the first part of the brake cable that runs from the bars to the connection.

      @TheMotoBarista  4 роки тому +1

      I would say definitely go the kickback it really helps with comfort and personally think looks better. In terms of height - it is tricky because it is purely personal preference. So here are some notes that might help you a bit more - I am 6ft but I have long legs and a shorter torso/arms, so perhaps your upper body/reach is similar to mine. I am happy with my height, I was thinking about the 8” but a few people told me if you are deciding between 2 heights - go the taller because you will always wish you went taller! So I think you should go the 10”. Unless you want a bike purely for performance- 8” will allow you to ride and turn more aggressively. 10” will have you cruising and feeling like a badass. Hope this helps mate 🤟🤟

      Depends on how long your torso and arms are. Everyone has different proportions. Also depends on the seat you have and if it pushes you forward or sits you back. I used a tape measure and tried to guess my fitment.

      @@TheMotoBarista Yeah that is the downside of the kraus risers they are like 550.00 just for the riser but I think i want the dampener effect . You do not get that with the bung king , biltwell or lucky dave risers. Dam cables are high too. But hey it aint cheap to look good lol.

      Yeh dude, it is pricey. But I will say, I have seen other cheaper brands on bikes and the difference is massive. It isn’t even close. You definitely get your money’s worth.
