The only time I ever have trouble with the decode is when the band is up and down. The THR setting is a little flexible but if you set it to work well on a s5 signal, for example, and the signal swings from s7 to s3 it can cause issues. I am still learning CW so it can be a problem. I am probably hurting myself by using the decode vs concentrating on doing it in my head but I sure an having fun with it.
Yes, the KX2 can decode and it works great. You can set 3 CW memories as well. The only thing you can't do it use a keyboard without a computer like in this video. Love my KX2 too.
Ordered my KX3 and KXPA100 last week, so I am excited to try them out. I am aware of the CW Decoder, although I understand it can be touchy.

Soon it will be possible. I'm already testing this on my KX2 and PX3. The signal panorama has been running for a long time.
