As an Update, I decided to reverse the oversampling mod. This was after speaking to those with much more experience with these machines. The mod can introduce unwanted Rf signals into the audio stream due to the removal of the filter.
NOS mod does not cause any problems...... I use all my cd players and dac that way for more then 10 years..... may be can cause problem with some poorly build amps.... for me never had any....
Thank you very much for your video. I have a Magnavox FD2040 CD player which has exact transport CDM-1, I have a hard time to put motor assembly back after replace the belt, your video is great help.
It is working great now. The original belt is 40 years old. I used 2 mm square belt 128mm length,(64mm when fold in half and measured with caliber). 2mm is beefier than original belt. I love this old CD player's sound-rich and smooth like tube.@@waheex
16 bit came out shortly afterwards and Philips installed a chip to 'oversample' and make it like 16 bit I believe. Many say it compromises the sound of the player, therefore many removed it and bypass with a mod. Also change the clock speed of the player.@@KarlHamilton

@@cskabosBut did you measure? It's not a matter of 'I don't hear it so it is not there'.
@@puciohenzap891 you can still use a bessel filter at 40Khz… when using NOS….

The piece of plastic at 11.07 looks to me like one of the two little triangles that are underneath the sliding tray.
Good Video , by the way where can I get the plastic wheel in yellow color that one , mine one is broken ! Thanks
ohh might be tricky, there's a chap called 'merlinboat' on ebay has a lot of spare for this machine

ohh I can't remember but it was a torx driver bit I got in a kit. Perhaps some other viewers can comment
What do you mean by pseudo-16bit? Are they not actually 16bit?
