- Blackpool looked more like the Appleby Horse Fair on Saturday June 29th as a round 100 horse & carts raced up the promenade.

Stephen, here in Ireland we are trying to get these Sulky banned. They go down the middle of the motorway causing mayhem. They are called Sulky. And one of them made a horse go over a cattle grid, it broke its leg, a vet was called and had to put the poor horse down 😢. The person who was on it said (as usual) I don't own it !!!

@@marykenny8664 why the hell are the guarda letting them get away with this or is it the usual they think they can do what they want when they want and wherever the hell they think they can. I'm from Glasgow and it's never happened here 🤞yet!!!! Maybe because they wouldn't get away with it here.

We have plenty of that in Ireland, more horses have been injured or killed on the roads. They are known to take the sulki and run and leave the poor injured horse there to die.
Was driving up towards Bispham from the roundabout when these clowns was heading back towards blackpool as they was driving on the wrong side of the road at speed and over onto the tram tracks and there was about four police vehicles just sat doing nothing.
If that would have been anyone else driving along the tracks the police would have been on them for it!!
The travellers did nothing but cause chaos and to think they also had children on them carriages was just mind blowing and shows their levels of stupidity!!

Yes, 25mm of of base Tarmac is the order of the day here. The beauty of this is that within no time at all you have a nice mix of wild flowers and grass growing through which gives a semi-rural appearance to your new driveway!

The Police were behind them on the tram lines, two vehicles I saw on this video. Seemed almost as if it was an official escort.

Have heard an 8 year old has been injured on a pedestrian crossing with green man on and hit by one of the carts that went through on red whilst they were crossing.
When I saw what that 1st horse driver was making that poor horse do, I was utterly disgusted. Nearly slipping at the very least 3 times due to the speed it was travelling on a tarred road. Poor horse! I dare say it wasn’t official having these horses running along the promenade and tramlines like that. I’d surmise they are all above the law! 🥺😔🥺😔 When it comes to their actions.
I’d forgotten how deafening the promenade was with all the bingo places shouting the odds etc. I do miss the older Blackpool, the way it was in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Thanks for posting.

It's a shame you didn't have the Macmaster with you today. I am sure there would have been some non PC commentary accidentally slipping out regarding our light fingered friends ignoring the rules of the road (and the tram tracks) I am also pretty sure none of the illegally parked cars have road tax 🤔🤔🤔

Just got back from Blackpool. It had to have the most visible drug problem I’ve seen in any city. Don’t see why there are so many homeless as half of the houses are empty and you could get in them for shelter 😂. Still liked the place. Has great shopping and some nice restaurants
The council nor homeless charities will take them in if they are on drugs.

Seen them in Great Yarmouth too. Great load of them. One tied a horse and cart up outside a pub. The horse was neighing and struggling to get free, obviously terrified.

I was in Blackpool from Saturday 22nd till Wednesday 26th June. First time and was so much fun. Thanks to your videos, Stephen, with helpful information, we didn't get lost and found everything we needed. I will still be a fan and subscriber as Blackpool is a very vibrant place.

Wouldn't think it would be legal to run them on the tram lines.Weaving in and out of road traffic either. Worry for the horses not the idiots driving them.

Thanks Stephen, I have to say it does look pretty gloomy there today with that weather. Those carts are pretty dangerous going at those speeds when there are families about, it's an accident waiting to happen. We haven't seen you on the donkeys yet Stephen, it's what we are all waiting for. 😂

Greeting from London and thanks for another great vid. Re the grass, in London they are letting green spaces grow for biodiversity to encourage the birds and the bees. Have to say the green space where I live is overgrown but it's full of buttercups and daisies, which look quite nice :)
If they let them grow, they should sprinkle wild flower seeds.

Omg, we had these in Rhyl! Sainsbury's, McDonald's, One Stop etc, all had to close early. They were fighting on a mini roundabout, stealing from the shops, swearing. I'm so glad they've left the area. It's the kids going out and causing havoc.

I've been to Blackpool quite a few times over the years it's gone down the tubes a bit .I'm coming again in August always loved the punks never had any hassle from them a bit wary at the beginning needn't have worried well behaved bunch

It's a case of being in the right place at the right time Steve.
I saw 2 men riding one of those racing carts on the beach at low tide last Sunday evening near Manchester Square. And a man on the sea wall negotiating with the council about how long the 2 men had left on the beach. Saw the same man walking along Central Dr near St Anne's Road leading a horse pulling a cart with an old man riding on the cart on Tuesday. On Wednesday I heard a horse trot past pulling a cart while I was in Bispham. I think the travellers were using the plot of land near Gynn Square that the burned down hotel stood, as a car park but I could be wrong.

If there's no parking on those parts you showed can't believe the council haven't tried cashing in with wardens, I guess it's because there no definition of the pedestrian zone and the road so chancers use it, that range rover owner could clearly afford parking charges
You tend to find that those who can easily afford to pay for parking are the ones who flaunt the rules.

Dangerous and ridiculous
I once encountered the horse carts on Garstang Road between the Shell garage and Windy Harbour heading for Blackpool one Saturday morning a couple of years back - so where they come from is a mystery. A couple of new catch phrases spotted "is it official!" and (desperately looking at weather app.) "they got it wrong again!".
I was going to take a day trip to Blackpool myself today, but the weather forecast said "rain all day", so I decided not to go. Maybe next Saturday.
It wasn’t as bad as the forecast predicted. The afternoon was mostly dry.
Hi Stephen those horses and carts should not be allowed on the roads... There must be a load of Irish travellers in town causing a nuisance! Police need to move them on quickly...

Britain's favourite topic the weather. It is all mixed up and topsy-turvy, this year. The forecast for today, Sunday, was cloudy sun, but we got more or less constant fine misty drizzle! - - -That two-tone sound, near the tower - sounds like a shops electronic 'doorbell',
It was more than likely one of the organised drives that local horse owners partake in a few times in the year.
A lot are from traveller communities but general horse people do join too. They all get together for a drive and a chat.
There's not much advertising outside of the community so it can seem to be random to others.
I’ve heard of the Appleby Horse Fair but in Blackpool?? As for that pavement parking it’s disgraceful🤬

Stephen they have been asking not to cut grass in June to help the bee's and insects because it was so cold. This was as well as No Cut May.
