It's probably why the new water/oil cooled bikes don't need topping up with oil every so often as the air cooled ones do, it fills it self with petrol? Of course the oil you should of changed boys is the rear shaftdrive hub oil.
Very interesting about the oil smelling of fuel I will be checking mine on the 1250gsa, just wondering did you smell the new oil before putting it in?
