Hi everyone I hope you are doing well. This week’s video is a special trip to Jungfraujoch, the Top of Europe. It’s as close to a winter feeling one can get when traveling to Switzerland in summer 😊. Hope you will enjoy and wish you all a great week ahead 🌺🌼🌸
Thank you for all the hard work you did to put together your videos. While they are all beautiful your videos with tips and suggestions are so good! May I make a request for a video? Would covering how to get around Switzerland be a good topic? Public vs renting a car - especially if you plan to go to smaller locations vs just the big cities.
@@Komainu959 thank you very much Komainu. I really appreciate 🙏. I indeed have a few more Switzerland tips videos coming up and cover transport options as well. In the meantime, please check out my video on savings tips where I talk a bit about transport as well. Greetings and thanks for watching 👍
First and foremost, I take my hat off and give my standing ovation to the true heroes who had built the tunnel. Jungfraujoch definitely showcases one of Switzerland’s most cutting edge technology that is worth visiting. And how I cried😭😭😭 looking at those assorted selections of Lindt chocolates because they cost at least twice or thrice over here! Thanks again, Janus, for this amazingly insightful vid👍🏻😃🌻!
Thank you Aisha, yes the building of this tunnel is really an engineering masterpiece. The chocolates were so yummy and they had flavors I never had seen before 😋
On the Jungfraujoch are some new tunnels since 2012. For example the ones with the escalator you would usually find in an airport or the one with the small glass bridge. My dad was actually the engineer in charge of this project. Kind of proud that he is part of such an amazing project that the top of Europe is.
Fun fact: the reddish dust covering the snow in this video (but especially easy to see between 6:15 and 6:55) is actually dust from the sahara that gets carried to the alps after large sandstorms in Africa and then deposited here. Pretty wild, eh?
You’ve given us an excellent outline and highlighted some really cool things that I didn’t know about. Thank you very much. I am planning a trip to Switzerland and want to do as good a job as you have done. I am grateful for you.❤
Again another great video. When this covid thing is all over I am heading to Grindelwald. The video has given me an invaluable insight of what to do and where to go. Brilliant. Thanks!
Hi Bambang, absolutely! The views from up there are amazing and, while you can do some extensive walking and hikes around the glacier, you don't have to. Just make sure you bring a jacket because it's quite cold there, even in the summer.
This video is amazing! Stunning mountain and village sceneries! I love chocolates! Ice palace looks a bit like the ice and snow world in Harbin, China.
Thank you Jennifer. This is indeed a remarkable place, so high up in the mountains and the fact that it’s accessible by a train that goes through the mountain makes it really unique in the world. The chocolates were awesome 😋😅👍
Jungfraujoch the Suisse wonder is a must visit. Nothing comes cheap in Suisse especially train fares is most expensive in EU. Best during high summer temperature in later midyear. One of best video. Danken
Thank you for watching again Nerve. Yes, the views from up there are breathtaking! One has got to get used to the Swiss prices which are as steep as the mountains there 😀

Thank you for watching Xiaoyu. I’m sure you had a fantastic trip there too. The day I was up there it was quite cold, but nothing a jacket can’t protect against 😊. Stay tuned for more videos on beautiful Switzerland 🇨🇭
If anyone is considering doing that walk in the snow that he showed just keep in mind the elevation. I've done the walk on Sulphur mountain in Banff Canada at 8,000 feet as well as hikes into Bryce Canyon USA at about 8,500 feet and been to the summit of Mauna Kea at 13,800 feet. This place is 11,300 feet. For me, an out of shape person who lives at sea level the change up to 8K feet wasn't too bad but that was mostly flat walking on a nice wooden structure. At 8.5K the hike back out of Bryce canyon was definitely felt and I had to stop numerous times. The last time I went up to the summit of Mauna Kea just walking around on a level surface for maybe a hundred yards left me as tired and dizzy. Lots of people in the video so probably safe but just be careful :) Oxygen level at: Sea Level- 20.9% 8,000 ft / 2,438 m - 15.4% 9,000 ft / 2,743 m - 14.8% 11,000 ft / 3,352 m - 13.7% 13,000 ft / 3,962 m - 12.7%
Thank you for sharing Komainu. You are absolutely right, that walk will not be for everyone. I found the soft snow the most challenging to walk on. It's a bit like walking on sand - just takes even more effort.

An alternative to paying the large amount of money to go to the top of the Jungfrau would be as I did (who could'nt afford the hundreds of Pounds for 2 people) is just to go to Kleinne Schideg (for great views) which is much cheaper and also the rest of the journey to the top is in tunnel anyway.
