    Vectorworks is more ‘parametric’ and uses the IFC format for team collaboration better than Revit. Each of the benefits you claim for Revit also apply to ArchiCAD and Vectorworks.

      @@steedlei1 but Vectorworks has various built in (rather than add-on extras) that perform the same role as does ArchiCAD. Both are more cost effective than Revit as well. AutoDesk software is NEVER the only option and neither should it be.

      @John Kellett but sadly online learning options are very much limited.I learned revit by youtube videos and using few reference book but that's not the case for Vectorworks.Vert few online courses are there which are very much expensive and no reference books.I gave a try for vw to switch from revit but couldn't because of above reasons.

    Archicad my favorite

    Sadly, none of the programs are up to date on what you would expect a 2022 BIM tool to do.. No wood framing in Archicad and Revit unless you buy the extra ArchiFrame/AgaCad package. The 3d tool Revit got the ability to measure in 3d in last years version. Archicad got the ability to hide one item and not the whole layer in last years version. It takes forever to generate a schedule in Archicad on a small project. We expect too little from the software we pay an arm and a leg for :/

      " It takes forever to generate a schedule in Archicad on a small project." quite a good news for revit user :)

    • @johnkellett7797
      @johnkellett7797 2 роки тому +1

      Vectorworks has framing tools for walls floors and roofs. The schedules are just there when they are created if you use one of the templates. It is only creating different templates that takes time and whilst neither Vectorworks nor ArchiCAD need Excel they can import and export to it if needed, and in 20 years I never have.

      Everything you said is true. Revit had great extension in 2015 wood framing but they gave it to 3rd plug-in agacad have no idea why...

      Allplan is so far away from the others that when the company is forcing us to use Revit is like working with pencils.

  • @KarlHeinzofWpg

    Interesting list, but in my experience Tekla is the only software on this list which quickly and easily produces LOD 400 models. This is not surprising since the steel business has been into BIM from the beginning. Architectural software only seems to produce generic models, with LOD 300 at best (usually only 200). To me, that's a pretty picture but not true BIM.

    hi, nice video ^^... I want to ask your opinion... Are software like intergraph PDS, Aveva PDMS, SP3D, E3D, Autocad Plant 3D, etc. considered as BIM Software also? thanks ^^

    • @TheQuantixXx
      @TheQuantixXx Рік тому +2

      i dont know these softwares but in general, BIM stands for building information model, meaning that 3d geometry has added information to it, such as cost, material, structural importance, element ID, etc.
      so if the programs you listed have 3d objects that have added meaning then yes they technically are bim programs. if they function like rhino on the other hand where a surface is just a surface and a box is just a box then they are not, hope this helps
