- Опубліковано 8 вер 2024
- In this episode, we hang out in Zapatilla Cays, Panama before sailing our way through the mangroves back to Bocas del Toro. We meet up with Wasteless World who has opened a recycling center and volunteer for a couple hours. After a couple days in town, we head to Starfish Beach for a couple nights to relax and then we make our way back to town to go check out a boat for our friends. We end this video in the tiny village of Kusapin.

jellyfish always seem like they are from a galaxy far far away, alien and graceful. always liked seeing them when I was diving.
They are so cool!
Moon Jellyfish-gorgeous and so cool!!! Yay peace ...😁
They are quite beautiful aren't they?? I never thought about filming them until this and it turned out great! 😘
Hey, you guys are Awesome!!!! , thank you for stopping by at Shelter Bay Marina ,
Eddie !!!!!
Hey Eddie! Thank you so much. You are awesome! Thanks for everything you do for us and for checking out our channel! 🍻
Thanks for going to look at the GEM of a boat for us 😆. Love love love this episode! So much goodness! Wish we were there with y’all! Miss ya bunches!
Hahaha.....oopphhff. 🙄
We miss you guys so much! So happy we were able to see your faces on zoom last night!
That boat looked it need LOTS of repairs 🤔
Yes it was certainly not a 'project' boat as listed and most definitely not worth 15k! More like they should pay someone 15k to take it away.
OK, I'm falling out of the cockpit here.... Brooke says were meeting up with our friends and what do we see, a pig and a goat! Love it!!
Hahaha good eye. 😂 🐷🐐
That project boat looks more like an endless $ gobbling piece of work
Yes we totally agree! You couldn't pay us to take that boat!
Oh wow, gorgeous sunset and such a calming sail. It looks so relaxing there. :)
Sailing around Bocas del Torro is so fantastic! If only sailing were only this peaceful! LOL
Thanx for sharing!
Thanks for your watching! 🍻
They mentioned your channel ! Calico skies have big hearts
We love Calico Skies! It was so nice of them to mention us! Grace and Bill are so nice. We really hope we get to see them again, we weren't able to spend much time together before we went in different directions.
Calico skies are cool 😎
They rock!!
I appreciate you two addressing real issues, ie educating locals, featuring water filter multi use bottles and local recycling centers. Tiresome to hear lectures about sea trash when you’re in suburban central US, never drinking from plastic bottles, recycling everything possible and growing our own food in middle of winter. Thank you!
Thanks, Wally! Great job doing all you can in the Central US. Our plastic problem is quite overwhelming and we certainly did not set off on this adventure to lecture about trash. We just want to bring attention to the problem and help the places/people we visit as much as we can. 🌎♻️
What a delightful boat. LoL
We like her! 🤙⛵
@@SailingOneLife I was talking about the really rough one you went to see in that episode. I'm amazed that Tayana was still floating.
Great times in this one. Loved it.
Thanks, Thomas! 🤩
It warms my heart , to see you guys cleaning up (buzzards ) trash . As you guys sail and fly as (eagles ) to your next mission not impossible. Awesome video !
Thank you very much! ⛵🤙
There are allot of Americans moving there in bocas , perhaps the community will get cleaner each day . A community effort . You guys help kick start the mission
Hanging with Kaza and Brain 👍
It was very cool to meet them!
Great video awesome views. Love how u guys give back. Such amazing humans. ❤️
Hey Jorge! Aw thanks! ♥️ Every place we go to gives so much to us so we need to pay it forward!
amazing, just got to bocos del toro yesterday to look at boats and it is so beautiful here
Ah bummer we just missed you! We are waiting to transit the canal. Good luck boat shopping and enjoy Bocas! We had lots of fun there!
@@SailingOneLife safe travels, may meet you out there one day. Thanks for the inspiration and doing good where you go.
That would be awesome! Keep us posted on your boat journey!
I love the recycling idea; always a super cool idea. I firmly believe Mother Earth would be much happier if everyone recycled around the world. Stay groovy and stay safe.
Hey there MA Yandle! We 100% agree. Thanks for supporting us out here! ♥️🌎♻️
You are making such an impact helping spread the message of recycling and taking care of the environment. 🙏🙏🙏🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
We are trying our best to give back to all these amazing places that have given so much to us! Thank you! ♥️🌎♻️
Brooke, your "fails" would be a welcome activity here in cold Delaware! Thanks for taking us along, you are still one of my top 3 sailing vlogs!! Enjoy each one. Ed
Ah thanks so much, Ed! We are happy you are enjoying them! 😁 Hopefully it will start to warm up there in another month for you! Hope you are having a good Sunday!
Thanks for the video guys. Great description of the species while diving. So glad you are helping with the clean up and recycling. Obviously, most people could care less about the environment.
Thank you, Mike! Glad you like the description when diving. Editing the underwater footage is always one of our favorite things. We hope that by bringing more awareness to our trash problem, it will encourage others to be more aware as well. Cheers!
Found you folks by watching Plukky's channel. Hi!
Ah cool! Thanks for coming over to check us out. So nice of Plukky to give us a shout out!
I would love to have heard the conversation with you all and the people that were interested in that Tayana...
I could see where that would be a great hobby, but that was not the right boat.
Haha yeah could be a hobby for someone who has lots of money and lots of time!
Nice
Thank you! 🤙⛵
Outstanding what you’re doing for recycling 👍👍👍. Great video. Thank you 👍🇺🇸😎...
Thank you very much Trent! ♻️🌎 We will touch base soon! ♥️
Great Trash/Recycling efforts! Keep up the good work.
Thanks, Marie! It was good to see you on Beau and Brandy's chat! ♥️
The world is small. I live in Brisbane :) Sailing Etchells (Bay Side only):)
You are right! The longer we are out here the smaller it seems! Thanks for watching all the way in Brisbane!
Awesome job one life it takes one voice to make a difference recycling should be going on all over the planet look forward to next week's video on the cleanup cheers sailor friends see you out there soon
Thanks, Jay! We are so excited to share the cleanup video next week! It was so amazing to see everyone come together for our planet! 🌎♻️♥️
Glad to see you're doing well; great to see how you're helping the cleanup of our environment! It's really sad to see how prolific plastic waste is, even here in Hawaii. I've found my "new" sailboat (yay!) a couple of weeks back. Now, I only need to finish selling off my life and I can join the cleanup effort :) Cheers!
Thanks, Island Man! The plastic problem is so overwhelming. Some days it seems like a lost cause. 🙄 Oh wow that is so awesome. What did you get?? Can't wait to hear more about it!
@@SailingOneLife Yes, it's overwhelming. Some of our north shore beaches are filled with plastic, nets, etc. 1990 Hallberg-Rassy 352. I bought it unseen, well except for a live video walk through and Q&A, haha, because the couple that owns it were super nice! Seems like the sailing community is really really great! Flying to take the boat over in March and then back there after a trip to Europe and Hawaii. ;)
@@islandman9619 Fantastic! Hallberg-Rassy's are very nice boats! Super excited for you! Where is the boat at? We look forward to seeing pictures once you take possession! Congrats!

@@islandman9619 Very cool! 🤙
Love your vlog. It was very relaxed and beautiful. Thank you for sharing.🙏🙏😍😍❤❤
Thank you, Gerardo!
Awesome video, First off, Love the Hat Brooke, The trash problem sucks, It's every place, even in the Arizona desert. Gary my Brother you must be doing it right, as I spotted some gray in the beard, lol a sign of maturity and wisdom. Great episode Y'all.
Hi Gibb! Thank you! The trash problem does suck, unfortunately it is everywhere and we can't get away from using plastics because literally everything comes in plastic these days! 🙄
Gary does have a little salt and pepper in his beard these days! Cheersssss Gibb! Chat soon! ♥️
My wife and I just got all caught up with your episodes! Thanks for taking us along on your journey! Because of your Statia videos, I think we will be heading down to the old gin house for our next Caribbean trip.
Looking forward to the next one!
Hey there! Wow that is so cool! Thank you for watching! Statia is still one of our favorite places. The Old Gin House is absolutely lovely. If you do go, please let us know so we can have one of our friends show you around.
Another great video guys! That was the one thing we notice in Bocas, the amount of garbage around town. Nice to see that they are at least going to try to clean it up. But it is really a world problem, not just in Panama...sad.
Hey P. Mack! Thank you! Yes, definitely a problem world wide. Our goal is to do more beach cleanups along our travels. We figure every little bit helps even though sometimes we feel like it's a lost cause. 😥
Beautiful video!
Thank you Aunt Jen! 😘
Loving the new vid! Awesome job :) Have Fun
Thanks, John! We hope you have a great weekend! 🤙
Just subbed you guys as you both have a great vibe and great content. I am always looking for a new sailing channel. How cool was it to hang with the legends...DELOS!?! I started watching Delos when Brian and Brady first started and there was only a few 100 subs, I hope you see the same success. Cheers and fair winds
Hey there! Thank you very much! Meeting Delos was so much fun. They are one of the reasons we are out here living this lifestyle. They are extremely inspirational. We hope you enjoy our journey! Cheers!
Great job teaming up with locals for beach cleanup. We're planning on doing the same when we complete our move to St Croix. Outside of the water/nature park and reserves, the south side needs help. Thanks!
Hey Andrew, thank you! We hope to do more cleanups as we go! Great idea for you to do one in St. Croix! Are you scuba divers?
@@SailingOneLife Yes, at least starting to. I've (Andrew) taken lessons from Sweet Bottom before the hurricane when they were at Davis Bay and after at Cane Bay. My last instructor has a channel, Triton's Realm, which is great, check it out. Valorie, my wife, is learning to swim better and has snorkeled the north shore and Buck Island. We'll be cruising, based out of St. Croix.
@@andrewbryant324 So cool! Good for you guys. 🤙
And we will check out Triton's Realm!
That was not a boat project, someone would need to pay me to take that boat hahahaha
Totally agree! You would have to pay us to take that boat. In fact you probably couldn't even pay us to take it! Definitely falsely advertised as 'project' boat!
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks, Stephen!
15k for that junk? hell, you couldn't convince me to take than junker for free...haha! then i pressed play and heard Gary say, " they couldn't give this boat away." HE IS RIGHT!
I don't even think I'd take it if someone offered to give me $15k and the boat! 😂
@@SailingOneLife TRUE DAT!!! That boat would run buzzards off a gut pile…bahaha
What do you wish you knew before you started? Biggest Regrets? Best Moment? Any thoughts of coming back to land? (Wife & I are contemplating sailing full-time) How much do you spend a month on a conservative side?
Hey there! Thanks for the comment! Would you mind to send us a quick note to sailingonelife@gmail.com and we will reply with answers to your questions here. It's easier to send a proper lengthy response that way. Thank you!! In regard to cost, we just put out a cost video - take a look when you have a chance! But on average $2k a month. As far as sails go, our sails are over 14 years old (previous owners cruised the boat for 12 years) and although we could probably use new ones, they are getting us to where want to go!
Nice Vid. Please spear the Lionfish, they do taste good for dinner.
Thanks, Harri! We always spear lionfish but in this particular case there was no spearing allowed (even on lionfish) in the Zapatilla National Marine Park. Hopefully the regulations for this will change soon as people in Panama are being educated about the harm lionfish do to the reef.
@@SailingOneLife Understood. It was difficult to tell where abouts you were.
Yeah of course! We should have mentioned it!
Another great episode. Just watched Plukky's newest episode and some hot chick and her hunky husband made an appearance. Have fun guys
Hey Dane! Ah sweet it was so cool he gave us a shout out! Gary watched it but I've not seen it yet! I'll watch today. Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽😎
Thanks, Rebel! Miss you and the best rum in the world!
Saw ya kneeling in the sand at sunset and wondered if you got any chitras bites / sand flies... or do you use repellant? I'm just learning all about Bocas from afar.
So interestingly enough we haven't run into much trouble with bugs. I only remember being attacked one time at a beach and that was in Las Perlas. When we anchored outside the town in Bocas there were lots of mosquitoes at night but we really didn't have any other issues.
Bow and brandie wanted you guys to recycle that boat also , put it in the trash can .
Such a shame! Tayana's are such nice boats. This one extremely neglected.
I found a nice boat deal , the captain just past away wife is selling boat ready for sailing in the keys on Craigslist , but it sold in hours on the first day . , those deals are out there , but only for hours to be snatched up like eagles you are . Beau and brandy babbling with to much coffee and letting the good deals get away , early bird gets the worm . Buzzards eat the dead carcass , as eagles snatch .
I’m on this breaking news with Putin and the (instigator Biden) I’m blowing up social media with my comments . It’s a sad day in politics . As Biden instigates. if I was the president I would bring my wife to Ukraine and camp out and tell Putin to stop the noise because my wife cannot hear the birds sing. .
I saw that boat on market place. Wow thats in pretty rough shape 😕 too bad a tayana 42 would be great
It was so unfortunate! If it was truly a project boat as advertised it would have been a good deal. The level of neglect was above and beyond project status.
@@SailingOneLife I looked at this boat back in July 2021, thinking it might be a diamond in the rough. It was too far gone then, and sadly, the current owner has made no effort to preserve it. It needs months on the hard and 50K worth of restoration work to make it worth 50k. Better to buy a fully functional boat and just go sailing. Enjoy the regatta on Sunday if you're still in Bocas!
Was it Guatamala that they do the embroidery and bring it out to the boats? Bring out fruit and veggies, ask you to charge their phones?
You're thinking of the San Blas Islands (Guna Yala) in Panama. We were there for a couple months... Episodes 51 to 57. 👍 Amazing place
Thanks
Quite admirable when folks use their gifts and talents to care for God's Creation, as Jesus said: ",Occupy till I come." Luke 19:13🙏🏻.
If everyone will join in to do the same, yes? Hallelujah👍🏻
God Bless Brooke & Gary🙏🏻⛵🐬🐬🐬
I love seeing interaction between channels! Also saw a quick cameo on Plucky's channel. What exactly is the protocol for filming when 2x UA-camrs are in the same area?
Hey Mad Marv! Yeah it was super cool for him to give us a shout-out! It was also nice to meet Delos and Calico Skies but unfortunately we didn't film much with them and split ways shortly after we met. Hopefully one day we will meet again! There really is no protocol - anyone is welcome to film at anytime!
How long do your sails last you when you use it full time?
Was that pluckys oil bottle , perhaps it fell out of the boat , sometimes trash is not intentional. . Or perhaps some people are ignorant about sea turtles eating jelly fish , only if people are more educated what sea turtles eat . Unfortunately Plastic bags are sea turtles biggest diet . Try to get videos of turtles eating jelly fish perhaps it’s difficult task , but a epic mission !!
Of course most of the trash is not intentional but we have seen people dump trash in the water and toss it onto the woods. 🙄 If only all the big box companies would stop using plastic packaging and forcing it onto consumers! We would LOVE to capture a sea turtle eating a jellyfish!!!! That would be amazing to watch.....okay challenge accepted!
$15,000 seems like alot.
Agreed, way too much and definitely not a project boat as advertised more of a total gut job. Tayana's are very nice boats, it's a shame this one was so neglected. It was definitely worth a look though, it could have been a great deal.
What time of year is it there?
Hi Donna - it is dry season. This episode was filmed late January.
You should do more research into recycling. The vast majority of recycling operations result in a net negative. Not in terms of profitability, just in overall environmental impact. The best approach is waste disposal.
You could put 50 grand into that boat and end up with a boat worth 8 grand.
Or you could sail it around the world, have the adventure of a lifetime, and not worry about what it's worth!
Love This one!! Do not waste your time - Promo`SM!!
Thanks, Mark!
They should be paying someone to take that boat off their hands, not asking money (let alone $15,000!) for it.
Right?! Definitely not a 'project' boat as advertised!
I wonder if you guys can team up with Cardano or another crypto currency community to see if there is any interest.
Yeah good idea! We do mess around with crypto a bit!
PC
Plucky , he should of mentioned your channel . ! Not cool 😎
He did on his last video! 🤩🙌
@@SailingOneLife he mentioned names but not (sailing one life )
Ah gotchya!
@@SailingOneLife I wish the best for you two eagles 🦅 keep on snatching . Don’t let them pluck your feathers . I love ❤️ you guys for responding nicely to my comments .
I absolutely LOVE you guys and your channel. BUT, I feel like the viewers get a little ....."Eco shamed" from your sponsor. Wouldn't it make more sense for everyone to direct their attention to the large plastic contributors of the problem instead of making it an individual based issue? If Coca Cola and other large waste contributors are pointed out, how is it fair that we as consumers must carry the burden? I know we should all do our part and I have yet to meet someone who is cool with throwing plastic into the ocean. I'm just saying that instead of holding individuals accountable, perhaps the major beverage and other plastic based product manufactures should be the target. Individuals can't solve this issue alone. I know the sponsor is not directly blaming people, but as a sponsor, that should be mentioned instead of relying on what consumers do to help this issue.
For sure, this is a challenging topic. We hope that viewers don't feel eco-shamed by our sponsor, but rather see it as an opportunity to not be part of the problem. Our main intention is to bring about the change you speak of, where manufacturers are no longer incentivized to produce massive amounts of single-use plastics. We certainly can't blame the people in the parts of the world we visit for wanting access to clean drinking water and food products. And guess what, it just happens to only come in plastic.
On the other hand we have personally seen, more times than we can count, people simply toss trash and plastics onto the side of the road or into the water when they are done with it. All the plastic trash we find washed up on remote uninhabited islands didn't get there by itself.
So how does this change? The true cost to the planet needs to be burdened on the manufacturer's of the products. This requires political action and legislation, which will only happen when the population feels strongly enough about it. So, the first step is an increase in awareness and a cultural change around plastic consumerism. And that's where our intention today lies, in showing the problem, presenting alternative options, and increasing awareness as to just how bad it truly is.
We didn't set off on this sailing adventure to harp on plastics and eco-issues, it kind of slapped us in the face so we are addressing it.
@@SailingOneLife Beautiful response. Thank you! You guys are great. I agree totally. You make several great points. Glad you guys see the whole issue and how it's not about just what people do when they are done with their drink. I knew I loved your channel for a reason.
@@SailingOneLife Can I subscribe twice? lol. Thanks again for being awesome.
